Karhánek, Tomáš ; Šoltés, Michal (advisor) ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (referee)
Gambling, as well as many traditionally physical forms of entertainment, has become popular in a digital form. In the recent years it has found its way to video games. In the environment the gambling element is represented by so called loot box, virtual vessel containing random digital rewards that are in most cases purchasable strictly for real world currency. The writer hypothesizes an existence of a variable, lottery premium, that can help him well explain the decision making process of gambling participants in this environment. The author collects data from the loot box buyers to help him determine the other significant factors influencing the amount of money spent on loot boxes. Using OLS regression he estimates the size and direction of effects of mentioned variables as well as their significance. The lottery premium variable is determined as a significant in terms of the amount spent. Therefore, the author performs a second OLS regression to determine factors influencing size of the lottery premium. The significant variables influencing the amount spent are: age, participation in risk involving activities, searching for the odds of the loot boxes, amount of friends that purchase loot boxes as well, the value of the most expensive item ever received from the loot box, disposable income and...

Based on relevant international literature, the author of this paper assumes that opinion leaders exist in every social group or community around the globe, possessing an extraordinary personal influence on the decision-making and opinion-forming process of the people within their social network. Simply put, opinion leaders are the individuals to whom others look for guidance, credible and accurate information and context when they are in doubt or experiencing indecisiveness. For journalists, the possibility to have someone to whom they can turn for all the above-mentioned is crucial, the author believes, for it is a daily part of the profession to handle information cautiously, to evaluate news critically and objectively, and to get acquainted with a confusing topic in a relatively short period of time. Firstly, the paper offers a thorough theoretical framework for understanding the concept of opinion leadership, which is followed by a practical part consisting of a two-phase research examining opinion leaders in the ranks of Czech...

After some general context, the thesis closely examines the selected period from the first protests in Libya on February 15 to the beginning of the Operation United Protector on March 31. This timeframe of forty-five days is further divided into the week-by-week process tracing analyses. The development on the ground in Libya is merged with changes of attitude in the American administration and changing alliances among the members of the advisory team of the President. The Bureaucratic Politics Model is used to analyze specific tactics used by American officials to impose their preferred scenario. The study also tests the applicability of several new methodological approaches within the Bureaucratic Politics Model like the palace politics perspective,...
