The social program of support for a client with physical handicap

The thesis ,,The social program of support for a client with physical handicap" is devided into two parts. The theoretical part presents the filosofy of the spirit and body, the physicality, body dissability, cerebral palsy and the Act No. 108/2006 Coll., on social services. The empirical part consists of the case managment of the client with cerebral palsy. I describe the goal of the thesis here and the method of collecting data. I also introduce my respondent in this part and mention the tasks of the research. The chapter called ,,Data and it's interpretation" consists of the qualitative interview. The aim of the interview is to show in what extent my respondent use a social services. The interview is the part of the thesis.
Psychological aspects of obesity in adolescence

The thesis deals with obesity in adolescent population and with its psychological aspects. At first it focuses on obesity from the medical point of view. It presents diagnostics, epidemiology and etiology of obesity. Subsequent chapters describe complications and treatment options of obesity considering the period of adolescence. The larger part of the thesis analyses the psychosocial aspects of obesity. It focuses on the personality of obese adolescents, on family lifestyle and relationships with peers. Furthermore it analyses the issue of incidence of pathology with a focus on eating disorders. The empirical part proposes a research design which focuses on relationships between obese adolescents and their peers. Self-esteem and body image in relation to somatotypes

This thesis focuses on the relationship between body image and somatotypes in the young Czech student population. Previous studies have shown a relationship between body image and BMI, notwithstanding, somatotypes describe body morphology in a more detailed way. Somatotypes describe the amount of body fat (endomorphy), the amount of muscle mass and the robustness of bones (mesomorphy), and the length of arms and legs relative to the rest of the body (ectomorphy). Seventy-one women and seventy men participated in our study. They completed a battery of questionnaires (The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire; The Body Figure Scale of Dosedlová et al., 2008; Rosengerg's self-esteem scale; State-Trait Anxiety Inventory - T; and Beck's Depression Inventory - II). Then they underwent an anthropometric measure of somatotype components (endomorphy, mesomorphy, and ectomorphy) according to Carter and Heath's anthropometric method and were assigned to a certain somatotype. In our sample, there were 5 somatotypes in men (endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorphic mesomorph, mesomorph-ectomorph and ectomorph) and 6 somatotypes in women (endomorph, endomorph- mesomoroph, mesomorph, mesomorph-ectomorph, ectomorph and the central type). Body schema in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Diploma thesis "Body schema in Patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease" is an experimental work which deals with body schema perception. As a part of the thesis there are particular tests of body schema included, which examine difference between control group and group of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Research part of the work deals with current findings about body schema and with findings about chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. There is more detailed analyze of musculoskeletal questions in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease included. In an experimental part of the thesis there are comments on results of the body schema tests. Self-concept of the girl with cerebral palsy

The thesis deals with self-concept of the girl with cerebral palsy. It highlights the process of creating self-concept and tries to find the difference between self-concept of intact population and people with physical dissability. The theoretical part presents body dissability, the cerebral palsy and self concept in general. The empirical part describes the objective of the work, methods of data collection and uses qualitative interview (which is part of supplement n. 1). From the empirical part the reader can find only the case study in the hole text. The case study draws inspiration from the interview and it is also completed by the passages from the interview.
The Influence of regular physical activity on self concept of women

The aim of this thesis is to study physical self-evaluation and generalized self-efficacy within the self-concept of women. This is put in context with their regular physical exercise. a number of other variables are being examined to add the complexity to the topic of self-concept and sports. Among them there are Body Mass Index (BMI), subjective self- confidence, level of professional involvement in particular sport activity and whether the woman has children. The theoretical part of this work looks at the self-concept paradigm focusing on the physical self-concept of women and self-efficacy in sports. Furthermore it examines how the physical exercise is related to the mind. In the empirical part of the thesis physical self-evaluation of women was researched in context with the type of exercise they had been doing. This was examined in quantitative analysis of a group of 100 women who did sports. The research includes also relationship among physical self- evaluation, generalized self-efficacy and other variables. The research method used was the Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) and Generalized Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES). The influence of print media and school on adolescent girls self-concept

This diploma thesis deals with the influence of teenage girl magazines and school on the self-concept of adolescent girls. Theoretical part aims to bring comprehensive review of current scientific research on the topic of development of self-identity during adolescence where self-concept is created with strong emphasis on physical appearance. The thesis subsequently examine possible disorders that can arise from erroneous self-concept. The impact of printed media and especially girl magazines, on components of adolescent girl's self-concept is considered. School and educational system as another important contributor in development of self-concept is reflected in my thesis as well. Experimental aims to explore which areas of self-concept and girls behavior are influenced by girl magazines most significantly and whether educational system takes girl magazines into consideration during educational process. In order to collect necessary data the experiment was concluded with sixty respondents, which were instructed to valuate several body parts before and after the exposition to the picture from girl magazine capturing fashion ideal of woman body. The focus of this thesis is to analyse the interest of students in alternative nutritional guidelines. Anthropology of Body: Application of the Model to the Eating Disorders Phenomenon

The subject of the thesis is a theoretical and empirical analysis of the human body, which is examined through the prism of eating disorders. Methodologically, the project rests upon the core methods of cultural anthropology. The purpose of the thesis is an application and testing of concepts apply concepts developed by the author of the thesis to research embodiment, specifically eating disorders perceived as culturally conditioned phenomena. The broader goal is thus to contribute to the development of the field of anthropology of body and contribute to the development of its theoretical and empirical foundations, while its specific aim is to apply the model of anthropology of body to the research of eating disorders. The thesis proceeds from the general interpretation to the specific research agenda It is divided into three interrelated sections. The first part presents a summary of concepts and approaches to embodiment in social sciences, accentuating a diachronic perspective.
