Language and pedagogic edition in Bohemia in the time of Maria-Theresa reform. Back to a big question et small books
Madl, Claire
Before language entered the program of national movement in Bohemia, it was at the core of pedagogical publishing. The issue of the language first revealed a contradiction between two leading principles of the Maria-Theresa’s reform aiming at a diffusion of literacy: the necessity to adapt to pupils on the one hand, the effort to reach out uniformization of schooling on the other hand. Publishing textbooks in Czech became then an economic issue that fostered rivalries between local (Bohemian) actors and central authorities who thrived for a strict centralized publishing and decision making. Finally, printing and publishing school books in Czech led their author to attempt a first normalisation of the transcription of Czech language, far before linguists were forced to do so.

This thesis deals with German foreign cultural policy in the Czech Republic after 1989 in relation to the promotion of German language promotion. The first part of the work is specialized in general introduction of the condition of research in this field of history, diplomatic materials of the town, history of the town and the issues of chanceries. The second part is based on documentary materials and it incorporated the analysis of macro and micro- structure. The macro-structure analysis is based on, according to using formulae, model structure of analysed documents, that is consequently used as a starting structure for analysis of micro-structure. Micro-structure analysis provides the way, which the linguistic means are in particular parts formulated. From results of my work is evident, that the structure of the documents keeps the reliable example that is a bit different from initial structure. Structure of the royal documents shows, in contrary to the municipal documents, bigger stability both in arrangement and using formulae as well as their language formulations. German Language in East Bohemia in the First Half of the 17th Century on the Basis of the Diachronic Analysis of the Town Law Book of Rokytnice in the Eagle Mountains (1572-1666)
Jakubcová, Lucie ; Vodrážková, Lenka (advisor) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the diachronic analysis of the Town Law Book of Rokytnice situated in the Eagle Mountains. The work is divided into two parts. The first part is focused on the general introduction to the history of the city, the history of the municipal administration and urban books and the problem of the office language. The second part describes the analysed source, followed by its editorial and lexical analysis. Editorial analysis is focused on the records of purchase and payment in order to determine whether the types of text were written in a standard format. Lexical analysis is aimed at the legal terms. It was found that the unified pattern of the purchase record existed only within an individual scribe, not for the entire Town Law Book. Pattern of payment records varies even within the same scribe. From the editorial point of view it was found out that the legal terms in the law book were mainly described within the municipal administration and business terminology. On the other hand, Latin expressions were used only very rarely. KEYWORDS German Language, Historical Linguistics, Bohemia, 17th Century
