Pavlačková, Anna ; Vošahlíková, Pavla (advisor) ; Zábrodská, Kristina (referee)
The master thesis deals with the development and display of advertisement for medicine and health- related products and services in Czech women's magazines. We compare here two periods - The First Czechoslovak Republic and present. It focuses primarily on these following questions: Does the display of health-related products have changed? Do we still advertise products of the similar character? Has the ideal of heath changed and things which were believed healthy in the past, are not considered healthy anymore? Is the difference related to historical events or rather related to the current state of society and its preferences? The main titles for analysis were Eva: A journal of modern women from the 1930s, which was published by Melantrich and current lifestyle magazine Elle, which is published by Hubert Burda Media. The theoretical part summarizes current basic knowledge about press, advertising, healthcare. In the practical part are more closely introduced the research methods - content and image analysis and also the process of analysis and the comparison by itself. An integral part of the thesis is the attached advertisements, on which the analysis was based, and which serve for better illustration of the above-mentioned phenomena. The aim of the doctoral thesis is an analysis of the ideas and political activities of Jan Scheinost (1896-1964), a journalist and skilful backstage policymaker who was also known as an ideologist of Czech fascism. The thesis presents and analyses primarily those texts and activities of this controversial personality which were somehow unique, typical or atypical for the Czechoslovak political and intellectual scene of the First and Second Republic, i.e. from the 1920s to the period of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The influential Catholic journalist Scheinost is often connected not only with conservative traditional Catholicism but also with Fascism in academic literature. The conception of religion in texts of Czech-jewish movement representatives
Junová, Magdalena ; Lyčka, Milan (advisor) ; Čapková, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis deals with the conception of religion in texts written by the representatives of the Czech- jewish movement in the period of the first Czechoslovak republic. By analysing the literary, theoretical and journalistic texts I compose the image of religion that was received by the readers of Czech-jewish periodicals, calendars and books. This image is as manifold as the genres of the scrutinized texts are: There are contemplations on religion, nostalgic and humorous literary scenes from religious life and essays on pressing political and cultural aspects of religious question. The authors, excepting Rabbi Richard Feder, are laymen, who discuss religious question with regard to common sense and humanist ideals. Traditional Judaism belongs usually to the nostalgic memories. The main image of the ideal and universal religion, which emanates from the studied material, consists of the immediate and natural relationship of man to God and mainly of the unflagging humanity, understood as a religious value.
