Is depression related to lower weight reduction in reduction dietary regimen?
Kofránková, Jana ; Štich, Vladimír (advisor)
The topic of his thesis, depression is associated with less weight reduction in reducing dietary regime? I chose based on their interest in problems of obesity and diabetes. Obesity is now recognized as a very serious disease that worsens quality of life and shortens its duration. Along with hypertension and diabetes dyslipidemia, obesity is one of the four main diseases that in developed countries frequently cause death. The cause of obesity is disturbed balance between intake and energy expenditure, particularly excessive caloric intake and insufficient physical activity .. In the last decade, the prevalence of obesity worldwide sharply rise, experts even talk about the obesity epidemic The first part will focus on the definition, epidemiology, etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of obesity, insulin resistance and depression. In the next section, I will summarize the current knowledge about the context of obesity, depression and insulin resistance. The third part of the thesis describes the clinical study. The study will focused on women in reducing dietary program and will seek changes in their body weight, insulin resistance, and depression. Among these factors I search context. I will try to answer the question of whether depression is associated with less reduction in weight reduction diet...

CHALCONES AND THEIR ANALOGS AS POTENTIAL DRUGS VII Lucie Švédová Department of pharmaceutical chemistry and drug control, Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Heyrovského 1203, 500 05 Hradec Králové, Czech Republic Abstract of the rigorous thesis: This synthetic thesis is focused on searching of potential drugs from the group of chalcone derivatives and links up to the long-term studied topic at our department. Antibacterial and antifungal effects are the main examined biological activities. In the theoretical part of this thesis there were arranged various antineoplastic effects of naturally occuring or synthetic chalcones. The bibliographic searches involve items from the last decade. Possible interventions on the level of control processes, proteosynthesis and nucleic acid synthesis, influence on mitosis, apoptosis and the P-glycoprotein and the action on angiogenesis and cancer invasivity were summarized. In addition antioxidant activity and other mechanisms of chemoprevention were introduced as well. Different methods of chalcone synthesis were summed up in conclusion. In the frame of the experimental part substituted derivatives and heterocyclic analogs of chalcones were synthetized by means of condensation reaction. All the synthetic products were characterized by...

French-Czechoslovak diplomatic relations in 1938. (Study on the basis of dispatches of Victor de Lacroix)
Jerie, Denis ; Rychlík, Jan (referee) ; Kvaček, Robert (advisor)
This study treats about metamorphosis of diplomatic interrelations between France and Czechoslovakia in the first half of 1938. The main person is french envoy in Prague Victor de Lacroix. French-czechoslovakian diplomatic interrelations was closely connected with other countires, mainly Great Britain, Germany and not least Poland, Romania, Yugoslavia, Soviet Union, Italy, Austria and Hungary. In the twenties of the twenty century France build up community of allied states in the central Europe, especialIy for defence before Germany. France was vital interested in keeping of this system. Czechoslovakia was in this case the most loyal allie. General intemational situation in the thirties clamour for postwar revision status quo and take France aside from the centrale Europe. In this tendency France was support by Great Britain which was ready to make concessions. Czechoslovakia was expose to critical pressure of Germany after the anschluss of Austria in march 1938. In the case of German aggression towards Czechoslovakia France was binding to help on the basis of agreements from 1924 and 1925. The french diplomacy however wasn't able keep apromise. France searches for the support in Great Britain which leeds them from the alIiance with Czechoslovakia.

In search of Afro-American identity: Zora Neale Hurston and race politics of the Harlem renaissance
Koucká, Magdalena ; Procházka, Martin (referee) ; Ulmanová, Hana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to explore the phenomenon of the Harlem Renaissance as not only an artistic but also a socio-political movement in American history. I shall try to trace its historical conditions, its ideology and accomplishments. Introducing its main intellectualleaders--scholars as well as men of belles-Iettres, I will take an insight into the ambience of cultural events and discussions that they created and comment on the diversity of attitudes toward the role of the African American in American society that they launched. Among the most prominent and influential intellectuals who fathered the Movement were Alain LeRoy Locke, W. E. B. Du Bois, James Weldon Johnson and Charles S. Johnson. The second target of this thesis is to examine one of the outstanding literary voices of this period. Out of the many artists who began their career during the Harlem Renaissance-and one should name at least Langston Hughes, Countee Cull en, Claude McKay and Jean Toomer--I chose the personality of Zora Neale Hurston as a representative of the unconventional black female artist of this time. In my focus were Hurston' s artistic aims to ground the Black identity as opposed, and sometimes even parallel, to some of her contemporaries. Hurston' s former friend, later a rival, Langston Hughes would probably be her...

Study of the microRNAs in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Hudcová, Kristýna ; Šulc, Miroslav (referee)
Searching for markers of disease is at the forefront of scientific interest. Biomarker of a specific disease should help in disease management - whether for diagnosing a disease or predicting its progress. We picked microRNAs - short RNAs that regulate mRNA translation, due to their stability and function in the regulation of many cellular processes. Therefore they can be used as a biomarker for many diseases. In our study we focused on neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), since this type of cancer is widespread and clinically important markers are missing. It is in our interest to seek new kinds of markers, suitable for early diagnosis of the disease and the most accurate assessment of prognosis. We selected 3 candidate miRNA (miR-29c-3p, miR-200b-5p, miR-375-3p) and used qRT-PCR method to profile their expression in tissues of patients with HNSCC. MiRNA expressions in 42 tumor samples were compared with the miRNA expression in adjacent tissue of the tumor. Adjacent tissue surrounds the tumor and has interesting properties, as it looks like a histological normal tissue, but on closer inspection it is not. It is affected by tumor tissue and may contribute to tumor progression. We managed to distinguish between these two tissues using miR-29c-3p and miR-375-3p. Additional analyzes were focused on...

Lipid lowering treatment substantially reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. The effects of lipid lowering go far beyond limiting the extent of atheroslcerotic lesions and decreasing the severity of atherosclerotic stenoses. Recently recognised effects of cholesterol on plaque stability, endothelial function, thrombosis, and plaque inflammation have been subject to intensive research during the past two decades. The effect lipid lowering treatment on the various aspects of the plaque development are being investigated in search of novel therapies to reduce the risk of ahterosclerosis. In this work, we examined cell adhesion molecules, microvascular reactivity and metalloproteinase PAPP-A in patients with hypercholesterolemia and investigated the effect of lipid lowering with atorvastatin and LDL-apheresis. Leukocyte and endothelial adhesion molecules mediate leukocyte recruitment into subendothelial space, contributing thus to plaque inflammation. PAPP-A is a protease which has been related to plaque instability and acute coronary events; it's role in stable atherosclerotic lesions hasn't been studied yet Microvascular reactivity is supposed to reflect endothelial function in the microvascular bed; the knowledge of the effect of hyperlipidemia on microvasculature is currently limited. Patients with...

Karel Caslavsky's documentary aktivities on TV

Gutsul, Yulia ; Prorok, Vladimír (advisor) ; Dvořáková, Vladimíra (referee) ; Iličeva, Ludmila (referee)
Research of process of forming of party system of Russia at the present stage acquires special relevance that is caused by changes of a political regime. Change of nature of a political regime, sharpening of personalistic, unicentric lines has caused search of a new format of party system which would minimize possibility of instability of a political regime and became the effective mechanism of maintenance of the status quo. Main goal of dissertation research is studying of forming of a tendency to a monotsentrichnost in development of party system of the modern Russian Federation. Hypotheses which have proved to be true have been formulated: forming of unicentric party system when using strategy of a party creation of the power and its positioning in political space I became reaction of political elite of Russia to a situation of democratic transit and manifestation of its pragmatical interests.
