Determinants of Claims Satisfaction in Insolvency Proceedings in the Czech Republic
Pařízek, Petr ; Skuhrovec, Jiří (advisor) ; Luňáčková, Petra (referee)
This paper examines determinants of creditors' claims satisfaction in insolvency proceedings in the Czech Republic. To our knowledge, it is the first research to such extent in the Czech Republic covering this field. Combining microdata from Insolvency Register, Business Register, Ministry of Finance and other sources, we construct a unique dataset of more than 2,600 cases. We identify several basic determinants of satisfaction: a higher share of secured claims, real estate and cash in assets of a company, submission of financial statements into Business Register, selling the business as a whole within the proceedings, and entrepreneur cases. We find no such effect for the audit of financial statements or for the age of a company. Moreover, we search for other indicators that may result in the lower satisfaction of claims, out of which five are statistically significant: a homeless person in statutory body, registered office at a firm nest, being listed as unreliable VAT payer, a connection to persons that have multiple records in Insolvency Register and a substantial increase in depreciation in the period between the last two submitted financial statements. In contradiction to the bankruptcy prediction literature, we show that the financial data are unreliable for predicting the outcome of insolvency...

Physiological role of SIGIRR in early embryonic development.
Hanusová, Zdeňka ; Filipp, Dominik (advisor) ; Brdička, Tomáš (referee)
IL-1 receptor/Toll-like receptor (IL-1R/TLR) supefamily represents a group of proteins that share highly conserved TIR domain in their cytoplasmic region. Signal transduction mediated by TIR-containing proteins involves the activation of NF-κB transcription factor and thus the members of this superfamily play a key role in many physiological responses related to innate immune defense and inflammation. SIGIRR (single immunoglobulin IL1R-related molecule) is a recently discovered member of the IL-1R family, however it differs from the other group members by its unique structural features. SIGIRRhas been so far considered to be an 'orphan' receptor as no SIGIRR ligand has been identified yet. Moreover, SIGIRR itself is not capable to induce the NF-κB activation. Instead, SIGIRR is supposed to act as a negative regulator for IL- 1Rs/TLRs mediated inflammation. Its inhibitory function has been implemented in several signalling pathways in various cell types and tissues including the kidney, the digestive tract and the lung. Recent reports also suggest that SIGIRR could play a role in early embryonic development. The main aim of this thesis is to characterize the mechanism how SIGIRR negative regulatory function in IL-1R/TLR signalling pathway is delivered. Here we describe the establishment of...

Žák, Vojtěch ; DĚCKÁ, Eliška (advisor) ; Vaněček, Matěj (referee)
Eroticism and pornography in animated puppet film is a niche genre. Nevertheless, it deserves attention for its unique means of expression. The subject matter of this thesis is a reflection on the relationship between corporeality and the puppet in film. It also includes selected auteur independent films and their analysis, in which sexual behavior is the prevalent topic or which contain explicit erotic scenes. The puppet functions as a representation of human body; specifically, within the context of this thesis, of the body in erotic situations. The body of the puppet becomes a representation of our own body. With the emergence of new technologies, we can become a representation of the puppet, which in turn becomes a puppeteer, an animator. The principle of identification with the main protagonist is essential for interpretation of the role and function of the puppet in film. One of the key instruments of interpretation of the role of the puppet in film and understanding its function in film. The appraisal of development of tax proportion of budgetary incomes of municipalities and regions in the Czech Republic
Poláková, Tereza ; Peková, Jitka (advisor) ; Krbová, Jana (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a detailed analysis of tax incomes of municipalities and regions with focus on four particular municipalities and one region in a practical part. From the year 2001 to 2015 the share of tax incomes and their development are evaluated as a part of total incomes. The theme is highly topical due to ongoing discussions among lawmakers on the subject of budgetary allocation of taxes. The law determining the budgetary allocation of taxes is modified frequently, that is why knowing the impact of changes on particular municipalities or regions is helpful. This knowledge can be useful base for planning new adjustments of budgetary allocation of taxes. In the theoretical part there are mentioned expert opinions on financial management of municipalities and regions that arise from their functions and positions. The emphasis is put on incomes of municipalities and regions, especially on tax incomes. Particular changes from 2001 to 2015 in law regulating budgetary allocation of taxes are described here with their impacts on municipalities and regions. Incomes and management of selected municipalities representing various size categories and Liberec region are analysed in the practical part. Financial self-sufficiency is evaluated here. In general municipalities are more financial self-sufficient than regions. This thesis is further dealing with individual tax incomes and impacts of changes in budgetary allocation of taxes on their size. Making models of theoretical incomes is used to simulate effects of diverse law adjustments. Results of the analysis show that tax incomes of municipalities and regions are generally increasing. During the observed period there was tendency to lower the growth of tax incomes of large cities, to increase the growth of tax incomes of small municipalities and to straighten the level of tax incomes of medium municipalities thanks to changes in budgetary allocation of taxes. Tax incomes of regions were increased thanks to changes in budgetary allocation of taxes despite of partial decrease in particular segments of tax incomes after 2012.
