The Gender in the literature - the theory and analysis of chosen texts
CIBULKOVÁ, Nina
In the dissertation I will examine gender from the literature side based on the comparison with chosen articles of authors from Czech and World literature. I am trying to interface theoretical and practical part. I have chosen three authors in the practical one: William Shakespeare, Arnost Lustig and Jaroslav Havlicek. On the basis of six written works of those authors I compare individually differences among main characters. In books Romeo a Julie (Romeo and Juliet), Zkrocení zlé ženy (The Taming of the Shrew), Modlitba pro Kateřinu Horovitzovou, Dita Saxová, Helimadoe a Petrolejové lampy I am searching for elements of gender, comparison of roles of men and women, and progression of particular female characters.

Dying and death as a sociological problem
Beranová, Lenka ; Šubrt, Jiří (advisor) ; Urban, Jan (referee)
This thesis aims to trace the thematisation of death and dying in Sociology, which in the 1990' evolves into constituion of independent sociological subdiscipline: "sociology of dying and death". The main intention then is to go beyond the commonly held beliefthat the death is still a taboo. The Thesis consists of four thematic parts: first part summarizes the occurence of problems of dying and death in sociology, reflecting recent developments not only in social sciences, but also in the society as such. Theretofore the death is interpreted by religion but has been medicalized so that nowadays medicine represents the determinative paradigm of death. This development is in accordance with the most important framework in the intensely individualized society centered around the notion of "self', closely connected with the concept of body and embodiment. Second part represents - on the background of medicine - three stages of death, where each of them allows to develop its own sociological reflection. Third part is concerned with the revival concept of death in the work of British sociologist Tony Walter. On the basis of the comparison of traditional, modern and neo-modern model of death we comment on social phenomena associated with other relevant conceptions. Fourth part is focused on the problems os...

The Problem of the National Progress in the Political Conceptions of the Polish Elites at the Beginning of the 20th Century
Květina, Jan ; Doubek, Vratislav (advisor) ; Kaleta, Petr (referee)
The principle aim of this paper is to analyse the perception of the national idea in the Polish area at the beginning of the 20th century in dependence on ideological discourse of the different political parties. In this respect we can identify two paradigms as the main competitors in the Polish case, namely the modern nationalism, which was represented by the National Democratic Party, and socialism, which was splitted due to the contradictory attitudes about the national question into two factions, the Polish Socialist Party and the Social Democracy of the Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania. As the initial concept of the national identity, which the modern conceptions were forced to face, is possible to consider the legacy of the so called "noble republicanism", that identified the Polish nationality with the loyalty and willingness to the collective aims. Within the context of the negative inspiration of the political concepts as a stable trend of the Polish thought both nationalist and socialist discourse attempted to refuse the tradition of the noble identity and also the political principles and cultural "organic work" of the positivists. However, the detailed comparison of national-democratic and socialist approach to the Polish question proved, that both mutually antagonistic conceptions did not avoid...

The second part contains analytic chapters such as demographic structure of the population, families and household structure and also the social structure of the population. Special attention is paid to the estimates of the population which was not included in the source, especially children from 0 to 13 years. The analyses confirmed that population in the half of the 17th century had progressive demographic structure, which was, however, deformed as a result of the previous war years (especially as a consequence of the plague epidemics). The important part of the thesis is the comparison with other regions of Bohemia in the same period. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
