Interpretative Semantics as a Contribution to Reception of a Literary Text
Koblížek, Tomáš ; Pokorný, Martin (advisor) ; Voldřichová - Beránková, Eva (referee) ; Petříček, Miroslav (referee)
The thesis deals with the project of interpretative semantics as it has been developed by the French linguist François Rastier. The aim of the thesis is twofold: Firstly, to introduce and to further elaborate on the principles of this theory. Secondly, to point out possible benefits of Rastier's project for interpretation and analysis of literary texts. The key issue which characterizes the Rastier's semantics and which also represents the main axis of the present thesis can be put forward as follows. On one hand, the interpretative semantics grasps the text as a linguistic object which is open to various formal arrangements and to various articulations of semantic units. On the other hand, each text in its linguistic and non-linguistic context receives a particular shape and particular meaning. This general issue is discussed in detail in four mutually bound chapters where it is also applied on literary texts: (1) The first chapter deals with the notion of isotopy as the main textual principle. From the perspective of this concept a text cannot be grasped as a "big sentence" with an apriori determined syntax. Textuality rather resides in relationships between iterated (isotopic) elements which can be detected in the particular text on different linguistic levels (morphemes, lexies, sentences)....

Language management in the process of reception of literary texts from the perspective of a native and a non-native speaker of the Czech language
Reuter, Magdalena Antonia ; Nekvapil, Jiří (advisor) ; Sherman, Tamah (referee)
This diploma thesis explores the possibility of mapping the reception of a literary text in terms of language management processes and in succession unveils the main differences in the perception of a literary text by a native opposed to a non-native speaker. The first three chapters treat the research methodology, which is based on Language Management Theory, Neustupný's approach to literary criticism through this concrete theory and single elements from formalism and structuralism. The research, which is described in chapters four to seven, focuses on the different moments of noting, evaluation and problem solving strategies realised by two readers of a modern Czech short story (one native and one non-native speaker). These processes are identified and analysed by the means of follow-up interviews. The aim of the thesis is to establish a complex methodology of identifying, describing and interpreting management processes which occur during the reception of a literary text and further to investigate the main characteristics that distinguish this process in the case of a native and a non-native recipient of the text.

Role of indeterminance in literary work
Marković, Maša ; Zuska, Vlastimil (advisor) ; Kubalík, Štěpán (referee)
In this paper I focused mainly on "indeterminacy" as a term which functions in literary theory. This paper was based on analysis of phenomenological approach of Roman Ingarden, on theory of Reception Aesthetics of Wolfgang Iser and on the theory of Fictional Worlds by Lubomir Doležela. I have analyzed the indeterminacy in relation to the literary work and what function does it have when fictional worlds are constructed. It was ascertained that its function has changed in time. This paper's focus was on aesthetic reception in relation to the gaps and blanks which originate from literary work. One part of this thesis was dedicated to construction of fictional and possible worlds and their relation to the indeterminacy. Indeterminacy in this paper was presented as indispensible part of the aesthetic reception.
