Online gaming addiction in the personal history of adolescents who use drugs harmfully

Background: Behavioral addictions, particularly so-called online addictions, have become a highly active research area. Nowadays, addictive behavior towards computer games can be included into other risky activities in adolescence such as substance abuse. The connection to personality traits is now being studied by many mental health professionals. The idea of correlation between the effect of excessive online gaming and the personal history of adolescents who are currently treated in a juvenile facility for substance abuse led me towards writing this study. Aims: This thesis aims to present the connection between addictive behavior and online gaming, specifically, the connection between playing computer games in childhood and excessive substance abuse later in adolescence. The goal of this study is to describe the development of excessive online gaming towards substance abuse in the cases of chosen adolescents. The thesis focuses on the occurrence of the combination of selected phenomena in the subject's development considering motivation, while also looking at the personal experiences of respondents. The subject of this study is the recognition of the link between service in the Police of the Czech Republic (PCR) and abuse of substances for supporting muscle growth and anabolic steroids. The service of PCR officer is often been connected to physical strenght and psychical resistence, which is given by training, personality and self-confidence of the officer. Masculinity and muscular body is seen by some officers as essential for this job and the standard there is shifted when compared to the other people. Anabolic Steroids - substances accesible on the illicit market - can be abused for fast muscle growth and outreaching the limits of ordinary man. The first part of this study is theoretical part, in which the aspects of police service are described, as they are risk factors for development of exercise addiction and abuse of substances for supporting muscle growth. Dependency factors in tobacco use and mobile phone use by members of the Police of the Czech Republic in the district of Česká Lípa

The Internet has become the dominant medium in the last decade, and increasingly, mobile phone use is a natural part of our lives, and in any age category. Tobacco use is currently very popular, according to the State Health Institute (2018), a total of 25.2% of smokers in the adult population in 2017. The thesis deals with the research carried out in 2018, focusing on the use of mobile phones and the use of tobacco products by members of the Police of the Czech Republic, comparing the use during working hours against use outside of working hours. Data collection was conducted through a standardized questionnaire survey. To determine the use of tobacco, the Cigarettes Scale Questionnaire was used and a Chen Internet Scale Questionnaire was used to determine the use of the mobile phone. In the form of simple, deliberate selection on the basis of possibilities and availability, the members of the Police of the Czech Republic in the Česká Lípa District were included in the research and were included in twelve local offices. The number of respondents involved in the survey was 100 policemen. The prevalence of addictive behavior on the Internet and substance use among university students in the humanities and technical field

At present, the topic of addictive behaviour on the Internet is a highly discussed topic. In conjunction with it, young adults are increasingly emerging as a vulnerable group, specifically individuals entering university. Students of different learning backgrounds also have different hobbies in the online world. Drug experiments often take place during this period. The main objective of this research was to determine the prevalence of addictive behaviour on the Internet and the use of addictive substances in two completely different university disciplines. Another objective was to find out whether there are any differences in the results of the respondents and whether there are some connections in the phenomena studied. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Philosophy of the Charles University and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU. For the purposes of this research, a questionnaire was selected, the questionnaire comprised of these standardized questionnaires: a Griffith questionnaire, selected questions from the European School Study on Alcohol and Other Drugs, the CAGE Questionnaire, the CAST questionnaire and the EIUS questionnaire by Škařupová. Connection between addictive behavior on the Internet and substance use among university students in the humanities and technical field

Studies dealing with research about the connection between the addictive behavior on the internet and the use of addictive substance are not a lot and it was never proved their direct connection. The research of this thesis is focused on the research of their the connection. I chose the population of university as a research group, in which I wanted to confirm or refute this connection. Primarily the main reason of this research was to find out the connection between the addictive behavior on the internet and the use of addictive substance, farther also the differences between two different university fields, in which could be expected differences in the exploration of addictive behavior. For the purposes of this research was chosen questionnaire form of data collection, those questionnaires were distributed to the students directly in the classroom.
