Methods of processing and coping with stress situation of people with diseases diabetes mellitus I. type

This bachelor thesis tries to describe coping strategies in stressful situations in individuals with diabetes mellitus I. type (DM1), who became ill during adolescence. The theoretical part is focused on current knowledge about diabetes mellitus I. type, generally about coping, last but not least, the chapter seeks to describe coping strategies in individuals with DM1. Through qualitative research, the practical part tries to capture resources of stress and coping strategies in individuals with DM1 in adolescence and adulthood. The research group includes five individuals suffering from the disease DM1. Results of the research showed that these individuals perceive stress completely differently and choose different coping strategies in coping with stress. Adolescents tend to choose maladaptive coping strategies. On the other hand, adults choose more adaptive strategies. Stress in these individuals affects their course of treatment.
Attachment in the context of coping strategies in a prison sample

The objective of the thesis is to contribute to understanding of the attachment and coping strategies at a prison population. The types and used coping strategies occurring at our sample of the prison population were observed and described. Then the connections between these two variables were tested. The quantitative type of research design was chosen. Research sample was made up of 122 men serving custodial sentence in the medium security level prison. Respondents were from Remand Prison České Budějovice, Prison Rapotice, Prison Nové Sedlo and Prison Příbram. Age of the respondents ranged from 20 to 60 years. For measuring attachment ECR survey was chosen and for coping strategies SVF 78. The results shown that most prisoners show incesure type of attachment (mostly fearful avoidant). Secure type of attachment occurred only at 3 individuals. Significantly important differences between relational anxiety and avoidance with compared methodological study were proven. These differences were found even in using of the coping strategies in comparison with the norms. Our respondents shown higher values of both positive and negative coping strategies (especially the avoidant ones). The research proved a connection between attachment and preferred coping strategies (incesure types of attachment positively correlated with negative coping strategies).
The coping strategies at social trauma.

In this work was composed the topic coping strategies for social trauma. The aim of the theoretical part was to define the concept of stress, the emergence of stress and coping strategies. The next aim was to outline what may be the cause of stress and what social traumas exist. The method used for processing the theoretical part is the study of professional literary sources. The aim of the practical part was to find out which kind of strategy will prevail and assess coping strategies used by adults with social trauma to cope with stressful situations. The next aim was to find out whether selected variables (character of social trauma, characteristics of individuals) influence coping and social trauma. The last goal was to find out how people are satisfied with selected strategies. The questionnaire method was used. The data collection tool was a questionnaire adapted for survey purposes. The research sample consisted of 88 adults with social trauma who use social services in the South Bohemian Region. Data from the questionnaire were processed by using descriptive statistics. The survey showed that the most difficult situation for respondents was the child's disability. If people get into stressful situations, they are able to choose appropriate coping strategies to help them cope with stress.
Student with depression: the perspective of a close person

This thesis focuses on students with depression and their close persons. The aim of this thesis is to map various aspects of coexistence with a student suffering from depression. It uses the perspective of these close persons, whose support of students with depression is essential. The teoretical part deals with defining the concept of depression using a historical perspective and the perspective of diagnostic manuals. It also focuses on various aspects of depressive illnesses, including their impact on life of the individual. The last chapter of the theoretical part then deals with coping and coping strategies. The empirical part of this paper tries to map different strategies of support for a student with depression, which close people tend to choose. In the case of depression, as a very serious illness, it can also be assumed that the psychological state of these close ones will be affected. Following this assumption, this work also tries to map the coping strategies that close persons use to support their own mental health. Evaluation of Zippy's friends for primary school age children

The thesis focuses on the Zippy's Friends prevention program, which is aimed at promoting social skills among children between 5-7 years of age. The first part of the thesis presents the theoretical framework for the main practical part. The goal was to conduct an evaluation of the implementation of this programme. The thesis is focused on alternative uses of the methodology and application. The data was obtained through semi-structured interviews with five respondents. The research shows that working with the methodology is not just a matter of the teacher within the classroom, but it involves a wider sphere of professionals working with children. In practice, the methodology is used not only for children between 5-7 years of age, but also for older children with various specificities. According to the respondents, some flexibility in working with the methodology and adapting it to the needs of specific children seems to be effective. According to interviewees, the Zippy's Friends methodology is a very versatile tool that can be used in different ways. However, the essence of the programme in the form of "Zippy Tips" and the Zippy's Friends story remains in most cases. Psychological and social aspects of coping with oncological gynecological illnesses (focused on breast cancer)

The thesis "Psychological and social aspects of coping with oncological gynecokogical illnesses (focused on breast cancer)" studies the demands and difficulties which women diagnosed with breast cancer are delaing with. In the theoretical part, attention is given to breast tumor and to the stages of the illness. It shows the needs and problems the women face and the possibilities of psychological help. This part of my thesis also describes different types of cure and its specifics and the changes it brings to the women's life. It is followed by coping strategies and defence mechanisms. In conclusion, the effects of the illness on personal relationships are outlined. In the empirical part, we map supporting psychological and other factors which helped with the treatment and with coping with it. The empirical part comprises 11 individual interviews with women who had breast cancer. The research methodology is supplemented with The Life Satisfaction Inventory. In the interviews we also focused on the factors of health care which were helping and the ones that could be improved. Relationship between posttraumatic growth and coping processes of healthy siblings of children with disabilities

This thesis is focused on the current concept of coping with stressful situations and the concept of posttraumatic growth of healthy siblings of disabled children. The first part of this thesis deals with stressful situations throughout the life of healthy sibling. The work describes the ways of coping with difficult life situations as well as coping strategies oriented to the future (proactive coping). It also focuses on the positive effects of this experience within the concept of posttraumatic growth. The empirical part presents the data obtained from nine respondents. There were used these methods: interview, narrative inspired by life-story, questionnaire PTGI-CZ and PCI questionnaire. The data were elaborated by means of qualitative and quantitative methods. The aim of the thesis was to identify the coping strategies used by siblings and identify potential posttraumatic growth. The most considerable development was reflected in the areas of "appreciation of life" and "personal growth". The most helpful coping strategies were considered to be positive thinking and positive reappraisal of a situation. We believe that these research findings might be helpful in counselling for siblings or in the area of psychotherapy.
Teacher Burnout and Coping Strategies

The purpose of the present study is firstly to investigate the problem of burnout among primary and secondary school teachers in the Czech Republic, secondly to explore the use of coping strategies against the occupational stress and burnout. According to many studies, burnout may be the result of unrelenting long lasting stress (Freudenberger, 1974; Holland, 1982; Peeters & Rutte, 2005). Correlation analyses was carried out in order to determine the relationship between burnout and coping strategies used by teachers. Subsequently the results were discussed with findings from several previous studies. Furthermore both teacher burnout and coping strategies were compared in various teachers' demographic variables - gender, education, age, school size and level taught, years of experiences and finally class and non-class teaching. In association with burnout, the results indicated 4,6 % of participants, who suffer from burnout often. 56 % teachers of our sample experience burnout rarely or very rarely and 39,3 % of teachers experience burnout never or very rarely. Significant difference was found in age category. Teachers in age 46-60 years experience the highest level of burnout.
