This report is processing research results done within the contractual cooperation of the Institute of Global Change Research (as a research provider) and Státní pozemkový úřad - the Czech National Land Authority (demander), which was prepared in collaboration with other research partners. The report deals with balancing assessment of available water resources and moisture needs within defined "irrigation districts” of the Czech Republic with regard to the ongoing climate change
Landscaping in a selected Land Cadastre - Evaluation
Bulant, Ondřej ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Wimmer, Jiří (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the evaluation of complex land consolidations implemented in a selected land register. The evaluation is based on the comparison of my own qualified proposal of erosion and drainage control elements. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the description of climate changes, both from the global perspective and with respect to the area of the Czech Republic. The thesis addresses causes, consequences, and appropriate adaptation measures to climate change impacts. The practical part describes the selected land register and the evaluation of implemented complex land consolidations. Subsequently, a proposal is presented of appropriate measures to climate changes, which entail problems with water scarcity.
Landscape Management in the Village Křeč
Dvořáčková, Hana ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Lukášová, Tereza (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis deals with landscape Management of the administrative boundaries of the village Křeč. The aim of the thesis is to gain and draw up documents for management decision making in matters of long-term sustainable drinking water supplying for the village. It will be examined hydrological water area network, identified quality of drinking water and found potential sources of drinking water pollution. Within the municipality Křeč will be performed research concerning the issue whether the landscape is able to hold water when exposed to climate change. The research will be focused on monitoring the groundwater level. This will be achieved through underground wells - probes, rainfall measurement and brook flow at the local brook measurement. It will be proposed an appropriate measure that will lead to drainage stabilization, prevention against erosion occurrence and in the end will improve the resulting landscape.
The influence of water stress on germination and growth of grasses and legumes
HRDA, Lukáš
The negative impact of climate change on agricultural production is consistently increasing all over the world. As a result of these changes, the yields of some crops have been decreasing. The main problems include frequent weather changes, especially long periods of drought accompanied by high temperatures. The aim of this diploma thesis was to assess the effect of water deficit on offshoot germination and longevity of selected species of grasses and clovers. The evaluation of resistance to water deficit was carried out using both laboratory and pot experiments. The results of these experiments were used to evaluate the drought resistance of the tested species of grasses and legumes. Based on the proven drought resistance, appropriate species and varieties have been recommended for cultivation in conditions of water deficit. The issue of drought resistance is to be paid more and more attention in the future. According to most forecasts, increasingly long periods of drought are likely to occur. For this reason, there will be the need for crops and varieties that best resist to various abiotic stresses.
The New Economic Potential of the Arctic

It analyzes the natural conditions of the Arctic, the reasons and the consequences of the climate changes and their impact on potential economic development. It also describes the regional organization Arctic Council. In the next part the particular sections are presented: the production of oil and natural gas, arctic mining, shipping, fishing and tourism. In the last chapter results of an interview with a British geologist working at Danish climate center are brought up.

A study of the state of public opinion on the origin of anthropogenic climate change in selected groups
Horáková, Zuzana ; Syrovátka, Oldřich (advisor) ; Dvořák, Jiří (referee)
The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to determine a degree of an importance, which the students of the FM VŠE as the future managers set down to a human influence in the changes of climate. I'm desribing both possible causes and effects of the changes of climate and abreast with it I mention some suitable preventive arrangements. I have analysed opinions of two groups of students in my thesis; which position about the human influce in this issue they assume; what is the source of their knowledge of the climate changes and how the opinions of these two groups differ from each other.
