Harmonisation of work and family life - the perspective of Czech and European law
Fantová, Karolína ; Koldinská, Kristina (advisor) ; Munková, Gabriela (referee)
Harmonisation of work and family life - the perspective of Czech and European law Harmonising work and family life is a very topical issue today. Employees no longer want to choose between work and care; they want the possibility to do both. The legal framework responds to this need - it creates conditions that support this harmonisation. This has a positive impact on productivity and employee satisfaction. Moreover, balancing work and family life positively influences societal factors, such as demographic stability and sustainable economic growth, making it a politically intriguing topic as well. The thesis offers a comprehensive view of the work and family life harmonisation in the context of the current legislation in the Czech Republic and within the European Union, focusing especially on caregivers. The main goal of the thesis is to provide readers with a comprehensive overview of current legislation concerning the harmonisation of work and family life, particularly focusing on flexible forms of employment, obstacles at work from the employee's side, and financial security in situations where the employee cannot work due to caring for another person. The thesis further examines European law standards and their impact on domestic legislation, noting also the non-legislative initiatives of the...
Homelessness and dying
Vondruška, Ondřej ; Ulrichová, Monika (advisor) ; Pěnkava, Pavel (referee)
The diploma thesis presents the personal experience of homeless people who have had someone close to them die while living on the streets. It introduces us to their ways of living on the streets, their relationship with their loved ones and the circumstances of their deaths. It reflects on what changed in their lives after the death of their loved one and whether their loved ones had the opportunity to mend their relationships, put things in order and fulfil their wishes before their death. The theoretical part defines basic concepts related to homelessness and concepts related to dying. The practical part contains transcripts of interviews with homeless people who have been in this situation. The final part analyses the interviews. It summarizes that homeless people did not have the opportunity to arrange their affairs before they died, due to the fact that their deaths were quick and unexpected. Their social situation prevented them from doing so and they were not aware of any available services. Interviews show that they expressed a wish to meet their loved ones and try to mend relations with them, which they did not manage to do. Neither their partner nor their friends had the opportunity to say goodbye at the funeral and they were unable to find out if and how the funeral took place. The survivors were...
Intergenerational solidarity in the time of coronavirus pandemia
Vondrová, Vanesa ; Jeřábek, Hynek (advisor) ; Remr, Jiří (referee)
The diploma thesis examines the changes in intergenerational solidarity and the form of care provided by informal caregivers to elderly individuals during the COVID-19 pandemic. The rapidly changing situation around COVID-19 was captured through a planned but ultimately unrealized longitudinal panel design, which would have allowed capturing its dynamic nature. The method of data collection for the research was a questionnaire survey. In-depth interviews were conducted with a selected sample of participants, including caregivers and elderly recipients of care. These interviews took the form of semi-structured interviews, allowing flexibility in exploring relevant aspects. The collected qualitative data were analysed using content analysis. Despite the unrealized plan, the thesis provides a comprehensive view of the changing intergenerational solidarity during the pandemic. Findings revealed that the pandemic influenced intergenerational solidarity among caregivers and elderly recipients. Shared perceptions and concerns led to higher levels of solidarity. Isolation did not necessarily weaken solidarity, as many families used digital technologies to maintain connections and support. Additionally, intensive care contributed to higher intergenerational solidarity and engagement. Respondents...
The sources of happiness of seniors living in a retirement home
Kovalová, Diana ; Valentová, Hana (advisor) ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the happiness of seniors living in a nursing home. It focuses primarily on what are the core and main sources of happiness that people in a nursing home draw upon. As the population grows older, issues of care and happiness in the elderly are becoming more and more pressing and important, when it is a topic that will one day have an effect on everyone. It is therefore important to explore this area in more detail and to find out the main areas of people's lives where they really feel happy and help them to cope with the difficult moments that old age and the decline of strength bring with it (poorer health, diminishing social ties, depression, fear of death, etc.). Last but not least, there is an effort to show how much the environment in which the elderly live has an impact on them and how important it is to improve the quality and care of retirement homes to maximise the satisfaction of the people who live there. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part introduces the topic of old age and ageing. How the period of old age is periodized, what are the manifestations of ageing and how the individual adapts to this period. Then there is the topic of happiness, its characteristics, concept and what are its sources. Last but not least, there are...
The effect of the cash for care on the autonomy of adults with physical disabilities in parental care
Prager, Michal ; Hradcová, Dana (advisor) ; Synek, Michal (referee)
Through my work, I offer an insight into the lives of people with physical disabilities who depend on the help of another person. I reflect on their opportunities to live autonomously and what role care allowance plays in this. The Czech Republic has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which includes, among other things, the right to independent living. Through the stories of three people with physical disabilities, I show how this right can be fulfilled with the current system settings of the care allowance. How they can become independent of their parents. What other influences and actor-networks shape their reality and to what extent their life is autonomous in this reality. The care allowance is part of the Social Services Act, which itself greatly accentuates the individual approach. However, the care allowance does not reflect much on the individual needs of people reliant on the help of another person. In addition to this allowance, I also look at other actor-network - family relationships, technologies or accessibility of the environment. I explore how they interact with each other and how strong a role the care allowance plays in this interconnected network. If the current form of the allowance affects family relationships. Through critical social work, I...

Women of other nationalities were also included in the survey and were given questionnaires in their native language to highlight cross-cultural differences in satisfaction with the care provided. Key words: satisfaction, expectant mother, childbirth, care, perinatological centre, questionnaire, cultural differences
Experience of nurses taking care of patients with a tracheostomy tube
RENGEROVÁ, Nikol
This bachelor´s thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on tracheal anatomy, types of tracheostomy cannulas with a description of individual parts and puts a big emphasis on the latest knowledge in nursing care. The purpose of the theoretical part was to describe the experience of a nurse taking care of patients in a standard and intensive care unit. A research was realized through semi-structure interview with nurses who work on follow - up intensive care, departement of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation, departement of Otorhinolaryngology. An informants were selected by the Snowball Sampling method and through a social group on Facebook. The theoretical saturation was achieved with a number of 10 informants. The obtained data showed that the metal type of cannula is a domain of a standard unit. On the other hand, plastic cannulas are used in the intensive care unit. It was further found out that the selected standard departement uses an open suctioning and other units use a closed suctioning. From the empirical part we know that the nurses taking care of peristomal skin are using different materials and substances and not everyone is doing the tracheostomy cannula sterilization. The nurses match in inhalation and humidification in the care of respiratory system, however the way of deliver differs. The method of preparation of aids and patient´s position during the tracheostomy cannula exchange differs, same as the process of decannulation. In the question of where the nurses gained the experience in taking care of patients with tracheostomy tube, we got almost an uniform answer, which was the practise in the departement. This bachelor´s thesis provides information about complex care of patient with tracheostomy tube and it compares the care on the standard and intensive departement. An output of the thesis is a brochure with a title "How to take care of a tracheostomy cannula?"
Issues of care for a morbidly obese patient in standard beds and intensive care units.
KRÁL, Dominik
This bachelor thesis deals with the issue of care for a morbidly obese patient in standard units and intensive care units. The work is focused on how nurses in standard units and intensive care units care for a morbidly obese patient. The theoretical part consists of the characteristics of obesity, examination methods, treatment, the possibilities of prevention of obesity and selected aspects in the care for a morbidly obese patient in standard units and in the intensive care unit. The research part focuses on the obstacles which nurses perceive in providing care for a morbidly obese patient and on how nurses care for the hygiene, skin, nutrition, excretion and mental needs of a morbidly obese patient. The aim of the thesis is to map the issue of nursing care for a morbidly obese patient. This part was processed in the form of qualitative research survey using semi-structured interviews. Five nurses from the standard ward and four nurses from the intensive care units took part in the interviews. After obtaining the necessary information, it was processed in the form of open coding and the creation of six categories. The results show that the complexity of care is determined by patient's mobility, state of health and his cooperation. Other obstacles are his proportions, lack of staff and the need for more time for overall care. For healthcare professionals, care is more physically demanding when handling the patient during hygiene, after excretion and during positioning. The nurses regularly monitor the skin. They consult patient's nutrition with a dietitian. They use interview with the patient to identify his mental needs. Based on the findings, a brochure for nurses was created, which focuses on the most common problems in the care for obese patients, which nurses may encounter in their practice.
