The current effectivness of bankruptcy prediction models in the conditions of Central and Eastern Europe

Bachelor’s thesis describes issues of bankruptcy risk. It fleshes out key concepts related to bankrupt, introduces financial analysis like a instrument of evaluation enterprise financial situation and specifically deals with prediction bankruptcy models. Metodology of model construction is introduced and ROC curves as an efficiency testing method. Case study makes evaluation of accuracy for five chosen models in sector small and medium enterprises manufacturing industry of central and eastern Europe. Concluding part narrates possibility modification of models for accuracy increase.

Estimating the elasticities of labour supply for SMEs in Bosnia and Herzegovina

This Master thesis aims at testing the intertemporal substitution hypothesis (ISH) for small and medium enterprises in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We predicted a positive relationship between the hours worked and the transitory changes in wages, and tested the hypothesis using the data collected via surveys of small entrepreneurs in North-Western Bosnia and Herzegovina; collecting data on daily income and the hours worked. The estimated wage elasticities are positive and different from zero, according to which it appears that the hypothesis of negative wage elasticities has no empirical evidence in the case of Bosnian and Herzegovinian entrepreneurs. This result implies that the intertemporal labour substitution hypothesis found supportive evidence and that we can reject the daily targeting hypothesis. We also argue that entrepreneurs tend to pursue profits across working days because their main motive for running a business is the accumulation of capital and wealth, so that they follow the pattern of intertemporal labour substitution. The findings can be explained by an unfavourable business climate in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which is a result of a long-lasting transition process the country is still undergoing. This work focuses on the process of mixing particulate materials and the design of the screw mixer for this activity. The theoretical part describes the mixing and properties of particulate matter. Subsequently, individual devices serving for different types of mixing are analyzed. The practical part contains calculations of the main dimensions and the required power consumption. The choice of suitable drive, bearings and gear is followed. Finally, the analysis of the blade shaft load and the strength analysis of the mixer blade using Autodesk Inventor are performed. Part of this work is enclosed drawing documentation of equipment assembly and selected partial components.

Particle separation from fluid flow

This bachelor thesis deals with the particle separation from fluid flow. The aim of this thesis is to get acquainted with the already existing methods of separation, to study their principles and to describe devices designed for particle separation. The thesis is divided into two main units, the first explains the individual methods of separation, the second describes the specific particle separators, their advantages and disadvantages. The final part of the thesis is devoted to the design of another approach to separation.

The Association between Firm Characteristics and Access to Finance in SMEs: Cross Country Evidence from Europe

The Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) carry a significant weight in the European economies with their share in number of enterprises, total employment and value added being very substantial. These firms are the major source of new employment generation and they also actively participate in international trade activities. However, these firms face important challenges in doing business like finding customers, availability of skilled labor force, cost of inputs and access to finance. This thesis investigates the issue of access to finance for SMEs in Europe using a cross-country survey data set. Specifically, the possible association of three firm characteristics, namely age, size and exporter status, with access to finance will be examined using quantitative methods. Moreover, given the rich set of countries, how the country conditions like financial deepening, the sovereign debt crises and investment-saving imbalances affect these associations will be studied in detail. This thesis deals with problematics of air/fuel mixture diagnosis od older carburetor motors. Especially for motors with more than one cylinder. In this thesis are informations about commercial product for diagnosis, brief informations about function of CV caburetor and best setup of fuel mixture. The next step in this thesis will be design, construction and testing of device for the diagnosis air/fuel mixture in practical use. Device will be able to measure mixture and other values witch can be used for best carburetor setup.

Small business and international entrepreneurship

Small and medium-sized enterprises together with start-ups are highly important in the nowadays economic environment. Such companies contribute raise of employment, stimulate the economic growth and innovation development. However, not all start-ups can survive more than five-year period. Support from government and private investors can help to overcome such problems. Moreover, SMEs internationalization and global functioning can support businesses during the tough times. The goal of the Master thesis is to analyze business environment for SMEs on the EU scale and to identify the opportunities and borders faced by SMEs. A more in-depth analysis is conducted on the example of three countries: Czech Republic, Germany and Italy. In order to get better picture of start-up procedures and companys operation, the example of business plan analyses for micro business is provided.
