Backfire
Jan, Šimon ; Absolon, Tomáš (referee) ; Tajovský, Jakub (advisor)
The central point of my work is setting the rules of the process of creation and then exploring the tendency to deepen or break these rules. I see the definition of my own field on the basis of rules as, among other things, the essence of anchoring my creative personality within my artistic practice. The thesis also develops the relationship between two formats and two materials in one painting. Central to this is the technique of pyrography and its ambivalent symbolism of an irreversible act, destruction yet protection. The paintings contain symbols in the form of two competing or cooperating shapes inspired by biological rhythms. Furthermore, this work explores issues of line, area, boundary, framing, repetition and gamification.
Transmission line loudspeaker enclosure property measurement
Pavlik, Miroslav ; Schimmel, Jiří (referee) ; Balík, Miroslav (advisor)
The aim of the master thesis is to describe the characteristics of transmission line loudspeakers. Getting to know the modular transmission line enclosure, which allows changing the position of the speaker and also the combination of two mid-bass speakers. Another goal is the study of types of measurements of frequency characteristics and the subsequent processing of the procedure of composing frequency characteristics in the free field. One of the main points of the diploma thesis is the demonstration of individual properties of the enclosure using frequency characteristics. The last point is the creation of a laboratory assignment.
Occurrence of hip and elbow dysplasia in the Belgian Shepherd Malinois
ZUBCOVÁ, Denisa
Dysplasia of the hip and elbow joints is primarily a hereditary disease, but the ex-tent of the finding is also influenced by the external environment. The aim of the bachelor's thesis was to evaluate the occurrence of dysplasia of the hip and elbow joints, applied preventive measures and used medication, using a questionnaire sur-vey among breeders of Belgian Malinois. A total of 103 dogs were evaluated, of which 80% were from the working line, 12% from the exterior line and 8% from a combination of both lines. The disease of dysplasia was detected in five individuals, of which 60% were males, mainly in adults, or senior age. As a preventive measure, owners use a balanced diet and adequate exercise for puppies. Currently, the owners use joint nutrition and perform physiotherapy as prevention. A combination of phy-siotherapy and joint nutrition is used for treatment. Four dogs with dysplasia were from the working line, one dog from the combined line. Although no individual with dysplasia from the exterior line was detected, due to the small number of included individuals, the influence of the line cannot be reli-ably assessed.
Gap options (třída Kapitána Jaroše, Brno, CZ)
Orságová, Adéla ; Menšík, Daniel (referee) ; Toman, Radek (advisor)
The project focuses on the revitalisation and new use of a courtyard in the historic centre of Brno. It works with the linear connection of two pedestrian routes of Lidická and Kapitána Jaroše streets. It follows and responds to the Brno Municipal Theatre, which occupies an important function in the functioning of the site. The design follows the line of the "shortcut" through the city, injecting greenery into the city centre, opening up housing opportunities for young families and offering a haven for creative souls, active individuals and groups, as well as all other residents of the close vicinity. The cornerstone of the concept and the scale of the project is the line that runs through the site, connecting both the different parts of the project and the residents within it. It is around this line that it all takes place. The project communicates with the inner world of the courtyard, into which it tries to fit, but also to define itself in a certain way.
The Roundness of the Crystal
MOLÍKOVÁ, Veronika
The thesis uncovers latent relations binding Maurice Merleau-Ponty´s theory of perception and Gaston Bachelard´s theory of reverie. Through finding the common basis of both modes of experiencing the world - through outlining the interaction of the flesh and imagination whose purpose was to clarify Bachelard´s confused, nontransparent concept of r?verie - the thesis focuses on the works by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. The brief interpretation aims to look at Munch´s work through the prism of Bachelard´s especially elemental oneiric pictures and follow their "crystallization" both in literary and fine arts line. Fundamental root system nourishing "the corpus of the explanation" becomes a dialectic of heights and precipices (it is treated in Bachelard´s books Air and dreams and Earth and Reveries of Will) whose tension, which is like an invisible stream, imprints the rhythm to whole Munch´s magnum opus. Thus, both the motive of vertigo and the mirror glint of the fear of fall, the motive of lust for disembodiment, release from the confinement of "metabolism", liberation from "incarnation of the subject" takes a relevant position in this vertical range. The final chapter then literally "completes the circle" by the insight of phenomenology of roundness. The phenomenon of a line becomes a relevant medium that sketches links of both halves of the thesis and through which a defence of vision as in essence performative act is constructed. The character of line acquires the value of a key unlocking possibility to apply the Bachelardian method to the art of visual type, uncovers implicit possibility of epiphany of oneiric pictures in fine arts - it shows, that painting is not spiritless flat dispassionate mimesis, but it contents affective invisible dimension.
Line in the Drawing and Painting
Pokorný, Ondřej ; Pfeiffer, Jan (advisor) ; Vačkář, Adam (referee)
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of line, especially in figurative art, as a concept and gradually focuses mainly on its subdivision within fine art and its specific use in the work of selected artists, especially from the 19th century to the present. Within the framework of the division of types of line, it explores these different perspectives, which it shows through representative examples. It also describes a new way of dividing the line according to the object depicted. Selected authors are briefly described, and the principles of their different and often innovative approaches to the use of line are further explored. As part of the practical part, I describe my own way of working with line using selected artworks. I also explain here the principles and connections of my work to the geometric tendency more generally. These works are here divided into thematic series, which are justified in terms of motivation, sources of inspiration, etc. The didactic part then builds on the previous chapters and presents two themes for the application of line in art education with a total of four art tasks. Some of the art tasks were developed by the pupil in the home environment. KEYWORDS Line, drawing, painting, geometrization, figurative art

Boundary and relationship to its surroundings
Linhart, Tomáš ; Bláha, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Fulková, Marie (referee)
Linhart, T: The borderline and the relationship to its surroundings. [Diploma thesis] Praha 2015 Charles University, Faculty of Education, Department of Art Education, 71 p. (Attachments on CD: 2 illustration attachments). The diploma thesis features a theoretical study on the background of the author's own artwork. The text interprets the borderline as a horizon that would emerge and vanish. It presents the author's own artistic grasp of the theme in context of selected trends in fine arts. Author seeks to define the boundary of fine arts and art education to establish a foundation to his own pedagogic determination. He shows what theoretical frameworks take part on shaping his own professional direction. The didactic part looks at select situations from the author's teaching practice that already took place and reflects them in context of author's other pedagogic experience. The accomplishment and utility of the work lie in a description and interpretation of select situations from practice of a fledgling teacher and an educational complex, field tested, intended for gymnasium students.
Taxicab Metric in Teaching-Learning Process at Basic School
Bruna, Jiří ; Zhouf, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Vondrová, Naďa (referee)
This master's thesis explores the possibility of including Taxicab metric as a subject matter into instruction at lower secondary level of education and it does so in several ways. Firstly, it looks into a curricular document of state level (Framework Educational Programme) and discusses instances at which the subject matter and the concept of lower secondary education are in agreement. Secondly, this thesis analyses a selected series of textbooks with respect to exercises that can be seen as linked to non-Euclidean metrics. Furthermore an experiment is described and evaluated, whose purpose, as a part of this thesis, was to find out if selected pupils can successfully solve problems in the context of the Taxicab metric and if related instruction influenced pupils' understanding of the concept of line segment and circle in a desired way. The teaching material which constituted an integral part of the experiment is presented as well.
