Sheltered housing at Kociánka in Brno
Schwab, Viktor ; Šerek, Jiří (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The original intention was a development on the edge in the peripheral agricultural area of the Kociánka Center complex and at the city’s inappropriate car park near to the industrial complex of the former Královopolská engineering company. By developing and adding new functions, this periphery and the border of the complex Kociánka Center can be transformed into a new space communicating with the outside world. The proposal focuses on creating homes for shared living for adult people with various types of disabilities and creating new job opportunities on the southern peripheral edge of the Kociánka Center complex. Transformation of periphery can be reached by modifying the southern edge, revitalizing the existing car park with a hydroponic greenhouse system, pavilion, and a photovoltaic rooftop power plant. Behind this barrier building there is a calm place for sheltered housing.
Community housing. A Case study of the community project Bydlinská zahrádka
Hlávka, Martin ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
This master's thesis looks into sociological perspectives on shared housing, or cohousing, and it is based on a case study of a project in Těšíkovská bydlina. The thesis picks up on the sociological studies of the community, which narrow down the influence of communities, and neighborly relations on the formation of shared housing. The thesis also describes various models of living together and provides specific examples of cohosing projects in various European countries. The second part of the thesis palces focus on the Bydlinská zahrádka project itself, where it employs the techniques of semi-structured interviews, narration and observation for a qualitiative study of the community. Drawing on the data garnered in this research, this work criticizes Tönnies' concepts of Gemeinshaft and Gesselschaft and further places the principles of shared living in our country in comparison with modern European trends. The work thus brings out a unique perspective on the phenomenom of cohousing in the Czech context and contributes to the discussion of why this way of living finds such a small response the Czech Republic.
Kopřivnice – Housing along Kopřivnička
Kóňová, Patrícia ; Mašek, Radomír (referee) ; Marek, Jiří (advisor)
The prefabricated apartment buildings are on the west bank of the river and family houses on the east bank of the river. On the east side there are private areas of family houses and on the west side there are prefabricated buildings with poor quality public spaces. There is only the anonymity of the city, isolation and a lack of human dimension. My concept solves the problem of combining two opposing approaches. It emphasizes neighborly relations in the form of community and the development of community thinking. What should urbanism that unites people look like?

City within City
Menšíková, Kateřina ; Žalmanová, Petra (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the design of a set of residential buildings based on the cohousing principle. The proposed buildings consist of three apartment buildings intended for community housing of three social groups - seniors, students and young families. The design works with varying degrees of privacy and is based on a classic urban block typical for the area. It leaves the public parter as the street character, creating a platform. On the higher floors above the platform, the area is open and allows the greenery to pervade from the opposite side to the courtyard. The opening of the area creates better conditions for housing and also a semi-private space at the level of common floors of community housing. This space is a continuation of a semi-public park, serving as a background for cohousing and kindergarten.
Housing neighbourhood at Brno-Líšeň
Uřídilová, Valentýna ; Hybská, Bohumila (referee) ; Nový, Vítězslav (advisor)
The solved area with an area of approximately 4.2 hectares is the eastern part of the statutory city of Brno. It is located in the city of Brno Líšeň on the border of a row of village character with a small scale (old Líšeň) and loose construction of point, board and typified high-rise houses from the 20th century (new Líšeň). The aim of the project is to find a dialogue between the loose structure of the new Líšeň and the town-building structure of the old one. With its masses it creates clearly defined streets and spaces. At the same time, there is an effort to loosen the mass and to integrate it into the near nature with its form. The idea design is based on the principle of cohousing (community housing), which is designed for living in family houses and apartment buildings. The main idea of the project is to respond to today's individualized and automated time, when construction has ceased to focus on the formation of shared spaces = interpersonal relationships, it increasing anonymity and isolation. Basic social interactions, mutually beneficial relations between neighbors are disappearing. It is also a response to the disintegration of the traditional family and can replace family background. In the architectural form it also solves the issue of uniformity, the loss of human scale in modern construction. The emphasis in the project is on the diversity of types of apartments and on a diverse range of public, semi-public, semi-private and private spaces.

The research is of a qualitative nature and the main method of data collection is realization of deep semi-structured interviews, which are subsequently evaluated on the basis of theoretical thematic analysis. Based on the study, none of the communication partners chose Klidná because of the concept of cohousing. They perceived the existence of common areas, small scale of the project or its spatial layout rather as a pleasant bonus. Fulfilling ideas of the concept in everyday life of the informants corresponds with the nature of the project and the context in which it was...

Attention is directed on clients themselves during this process, how do they perceive participation, what barriers they see and on the other hand what opportunities motivate them to participate in social events. The main part of my work is dedicated to empirical research in the organization "Domov pro seniory Slunečnice" (Retirement Home Sunflower) where above mentioned topics are analy zed.
