Measuring Air Transport Industry Linkages: Input-Output Analysis
Tax, Tomáš ; Semerák, Vilém (advisor) ; Macháček, Vít (referee)
This thesis examines linkages of the Czech air-transport sector to the rest of the Czech economy using the hypothetical extraction method (HEM) within the input-output analysis. In order to estimate air transport total linkages on the Czech economy together with linkages air transport has with its upstream and downstream industries, three different forms of hypothetical extractions using two input-output models (the Leontief and the Ghosh models) were applied on the World Input-Output Tables (WIOTs). The Leontief model enabled quantification of the total and backward (upstream) linkages, whereas the Ghosh model was used to measure forward (downstream) linkages of air transport. Moreover, upstream and downstream domestic industries, that would be hit the most by the extraction of air transport from the Czech economy, were identified using the corresponding models. The results of the research allow to estimate how the rest of the economy would be affected by the Czech air transport's shutdown (for example due to travel restrictions connected to the Covid-19 pandemic) and help to identify industries hit the most by such industry closure.
Passengers claims in air transport under the Regulation (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council No. 261/2004
Koudela, Martin ; Zavadilová, Marta (advisor) ; Pfeiffer, Magdalena (referee)
Passengers claims in air transport under the Regulation (EC) of the European Parliament and of the Council No. 261/2004 Abstract The subject of this diploma thesis is the claims of air passengers, especially those arising from Regulation (EC) 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, but also according to other regulations of private international law. The thesis is divided into four parts, which, with regard to the nature of the topic, combine both theoretical and practical aspects. The first part provides an introduction to the issue by setting it in the historical context of civil aviation regulations and then discusses important documents in the field of air passenger rights. In particular, it compares these documents with each other and provides the reader with a practical overview of these documents. The second part deals with the Regulation (EC) 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which is the central legal regulation of this work. First, the author describes the context and process of adoption of the Regulation and then deals with the individual parts, while supplementing the theoretical interpretation with numerous references to the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Subsequently, the circumstances of the ongoing amendment of the Regulation are...
Impacts of air traffic at the airport of Vaclav Havel to the surrounding municipalities
Fuková, Jana ; Čermák, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Kolařík, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis focuses on impacts of Vaclav Havel Airport on the surrounding municipalities. It is a very up-to-date topic, because air transport is used by more and more people. That increases the burden on the areas adjacent to the airport. The theoretical part of this thesis starts with short introduction of NIMBY, it provides the most important informations about Vaclav Havel Airport and summarizes negative impacts on the surroundings. It also gives informations about future expansion of the airport in form of parallel runway and public attitude to this planned construction. Subsequently the cooperation of the airport with the surrounding municipalities and parts of Prague is described. The practical part was processed on the basis of data from the questionaire survey. The aim was to get opinions from residents around the airport, what they consider as advantages and disadvantages of living in this area, whether they are informed about the airport cooperation with the place where they live and finally their attitude to the airport expansion with the new runway. Key words: air transport, negative impacts, noise, municipality, parallel runway
Rights of passengers in international air transport
Chrást, Patrik ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor) ; Brodec, Jan (referee)
Název diplomové práce a abstrakt v anglickém jazyce, klíčová slova Title of the thesis: Rights of passengers in international air transport Abstract The number of passengers carried by international air transport grows steadily every year and thus also the number of irregularities which may disrupt passengers' travel plans increases accordingly. It is important that in such cases passengers are appropriately looked after and that they may, in accordance with valid instruments of law, seek compensation for damages incurred as a result of such irregularities. By means of analysis of select significant legal instruments of private international law and European law the author aims to point out parts of these regulations that present difficulties when they are to be applied, their meaning is not unambiguous, the interpretation is not uniformed, or the regulations are incompatible with one another. The author then avails of this analysis to propose certain amendments to the existing legislation on air passenger rights in the last chapter of the thesis. In order to achieve the set goal, the author utilizes information not only from academic literature and specialized publications, but also from wide variety of case law, in particular judgements of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Author's own...
PROSTOROVÁ ORGANIZACE LETECKÉ DOPRAVY V AFRICKÉM REGIONU
MRÁZKOVÁ, Tereza
This bachelor thesis focuses on personal air transport in the Africa continent. In the first part, the general characteristics of air transport, its importance in the world and changes in its development, will be described. The description of the current situation of air transport follows. This part of the thesis tries to explain the causes of the peripheral position within its global distribution. The analytic part of the thesis deals with the flight offers in ten African airports on a specific day in 2006 and 2018. These airports were chosen on the grounds of several factors, e.g. the size according to the volume of transported passengers per year. The data for the implementation of this analysis were taken from the Flightstats database. This database provides information about almost every flight in the world. The results of the analysis provide a view on development and the current situation of domestic, continental and intercontinental air transport in Africa or rather of the airports which are for the African continent crucial.
GRAVITY MODELS AND THEIR USE IN THE STUDY OF THE SPACE ORGANIZATION IN AIR TRANSPORT
HAMROVÁ, Marika
The bachelor thesis deals with spatial interactions performed by air transport. These spatial interactions can be defined as core regions, often visited, regions and peripheral, less visited regions, depending on the season and distance from the aerodrome being monitored. The bachelor thesis deals with the comparison of real transport connections, realized by air transport, and calculations obtained using gravitational models. Gravity models can determine the strength of interactions between two different points, the variables given may vary. For example, the city's GDP, the number of checked-in passengers, the number of flights made from the airport, the population of the city ... In this case was used as a variable the number of checked-in passengers per year and the distance between two airports. The main centers were selected by the cities of Nice and Bratislava for their specific location and functionality. The first theoretical part deals with air transport and its relation to spatial mobility. The second part of the thesis follows the strongest interaction of air corridors from the cities of Nice and Bratislava, comparing the two mentioned methods. The second part also includes maps showing the analyzed data. The data that was used for this work was obtained on the website of the airline server http://www.flightstats.com/ and http://www.mapy.cz/.
Route Planning in Air Transport
Sychra, Marek ; Krčmář, Radim (referee) ; Křivka, Zbyněk (advisor)
The problem of route planning in air transport (in public transport in general ) is similar to the shortest path problem. The main differences are the time dependency of the input graph and the multicriterial aspect of the path costs . The aim of this thesis was to create a complex system that would be able to load elementary flights from database and then respond to user requests with combined journeys made from single flights . It was achieved using two state of the art algorithms , CSA and RAPTOR , which were adapted for the flight graph. The experiments which were run on real world data showed massive speedup of the algorithms when using the proposed optimisations . The whole system was also tested against an existing proprietary solution .
LETECKÁ DOPRAVA JAKO FAKTOR GLOBALIZAČNÍCH PROCESŮ: PŘÍPADOVÁ STUDIE INDIE
PRENER, Jan
Aviation has been affected by many important changes over the last decades, the structure of these changes comes from the amassing globalization. Similarly, the aviation changes the geographical organization of the whole world in terms of the genesis, selection and establishment of new economic, social, political, cultural and many other relations. Considering these facts and other aspects, transforms aviation into the tight indicator of globalization. Due to the reasons, the thesis focuses on the identification, analysis, description, and explanation of processes that take part in the worldwide organization of aviation. The example of India is chosen as the most appropriate because of the continuing development of its economic status. Dynamic disposition of transforming India leads the country into both the hypothetical and real point of intersection of many socio-economic changes. India is also considered a candidate for the primacy of the world-class aviation status. Given these facts, the main task of the thesis is to establish a specific study through statistical and spatial methods. The study should determine how much India is involved in global aviation, included participated changes.
