"Mare nostrum" and "la politica mussoliniana"
Paulusová, Kristýna ; Romancov, Michael (advisor) ; Fidler, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the Mediterranean region vis-á-vis the fascist imperial plan that contain acquisitions or leastwise enforcements of all Mediterranean coast. It is a specific analysis thoroughly tackling the issue in geopolitical and historic context. Despite the fact that the topic is extremely interesting it has not been properly described thusfar in Czech research or scientific literature. The Roman Empire ruled the entire coastline of the Mediterranean sea and from its center on the Apennine peninsula managed to control the whole region through its political ability and as well as due to the central location at the Mediterranean sea. Because of the fact that, the Romans were able to expand their authority to all Mediterranean region thus it became an embosomed field. That's why the Romans called it "mare nostrum." Additionally, this thesis is concerned with endeavours to restore the Roman Empire to its former glory that were active in all phases of its historical development following its disintegration. The central position of the Apennine peninsula in the Mediterranean sea, which favours Italy ability to control the entire sea, enticed the liberal governments of the Italian kingdom to expand. However, only Mussolini's new activist and aggressive policy made these plans more concrete and to a...

Formation of the Security Policy Of Danish Kingdom in the 20.th Century
Sedláková, Barbara ; Fidler, Jiří (advisor) ; Karásek, Tomáš (referee)
This thesis is concerned with Danish foreign and security policy in the 20th century. In the Middle Ages Denmark was a major Scandinavian power but after a series of territorial losses it became a relatively small country. Due to this development, it started to pursue the policy of neutrality as the means of ensuring its security. The policy proved to be a successful strategy until World War I, yet utterly failed during World War II. The War became a turning point in Danish security policy, because Denmark abstained from neutrality from 1945 on and changed the way of enforcing its security and its understanding dramatically. The policy of neutrality was based on the assumption that if Denmark had not been perceived as a threat, it would not have been attacked. However, such perception of security was applicable only during the period of multipolarity. The outcome of World War II led to the shift from polarity to bipolarity, as represented by two superpowers. In the new situation the policy of neutrality couldn't have ensured Denmark's security, considering the geo-strategic position of the country. As a result, Denmark had to choose one side in the superpower rivalry. Thus it chose the United States and entered the organization of collective defence (the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation), established by...

The French UMP and its Internal Structure
Vlková, Michaela ; Perottino, Michel (advisor) ; Říchová, Blanka (referee)
The creation of the UMP, as the "Union pour la Majorité Présidentielle", after the first round of the presidential election in 2002, began a new cycle for the French Right. It can be characterized as the refoundation of a party by merger. The merger proceeded from a long- established system of cooperation among parties at the legislative level. The main constitutive components of the new party were namely the conservative RPR (Rassemblement pour la République), the centre-right UDF (Union pour la Démocratie Française) and a former part of the UDF - DL (Démocratie Libérale) - which became independent in 1998. The principal motivation for the modification of the form of cooperation was the restoration of Jacques Chirac's authority over both his political camp and and the institution of the presidency. The UMP won both - legislative and presidential elections and started to govern. The internal structure of the new party can be understood in different ways and be distiguished into different levels. Firstly, from the point of view directed to its main components - political parties that made up the UMP's base and also other parties and groups that cooperate with the new party. The UMP brought to the end (or at least modified) the system of electoral cooperation that used to exist on the Right for more than two...

Human capital requirements in terms off the structural changes in the Czech Republic economy
Grušáková, Markéta ; Lapáček, Michal (advisor) ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (referee)
Nowadays there has been a great public and economic discussion about recent dynamics in the labour market in the Czech Republic. We enjoy a significant decrease in the rate of unemployment, some branches of the czech economy suffer from a qualified labour power deficiency. There are signals that educational and professional structure of unemplyed people do not meet the employers' demand for qualified workers. In the first, theoretic, part I classify sectors, branches and professions together with educational levels. I describe the theoretical backround of structural changes in the economy and its effects on the labour market. I focus also on an active employment policy. The second, practical, part examines how the educational level and qualiffication influence a possibility to acquire a job in The Czech Republic. I detaily focus on differences across regions in respect to acquired education. Further I analyze how former working experience influences a final decision about engaging the employee and if the current trend is to engage graduates or experienced employees. Another part of the labour market are labour offices and HR agencies. That is why I study the differences between these two institutions, especially the differences in their clientship, again in respect to acquired education. Final conclusion resulting from my findings illustrate the trends in the czech labour market according to the economic developement and continuing structural changes. Built upon my analysis I predict which occupations will enjoy a boom and which one starts to suffer a decline. Furthermore I suggest which educational branches support and which not because they produce a lot of not-engageable people.

The Russian Translations of A Clockwork Orange
Václavová, Andrea ; Hlaváček, Antonín (advisor) ; Hříbková, Radka (referee)
The diploma thesis "Russian translations of A. Burgess' novel lA Clockwork Orange" deals with the question of translation of Russian words used in the book written in English into Russian. It also deals with the problem whether the former aesthetic value of the original is being preserved in the translated works as well. You will discover linguistic and literary analyses of the original version and its three Russian translations (which were published in Russia under the title 'Заводной апельсин') and a comparison of them. The Sinélščikov's translation seems to be the most successful at the first sight. He translates the Russian expressions used in English by English and American words. But only if you read the whole book you will find out that he slightly changes the original plot and thus he also shifts the meaning of the novel. In other words he does not preserve the original aesthetic value of Burgess' work. In comparison, Nëtësovova's translation is the most successful of all as for the maintenance of artistic value of the book. Paradoxically, the most often published Bošnjak's translation is excessively vulgar and it is the less imaginative translation of all. His translation does not give the reader the possibility to get known or to understand the meaning of Burgess' literary work. Powered by TCPDF...

The practical part builds upon Freineťs experience with integration of the Free Writing technique into current schools. Action research describes an attempt to use this technique in one elementary school in Prague. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)

Stability and Growth Pact as an element of economic and monetary union
Zábrahová, Linda ; Urban, Luděk (advisor) ; Dědek, Oldřich (referee)
This diploma thesis analyses Stability and Growth Pact. It examines, if SGP is the appropriate guard of fiscal discipline of EMU member states. It explains how SGP works, what the basic elements are and how constituent procedures behave. This thesis investigates favorable and also negative features of Stability and Growth Pact in its former version. It analyses, how have member states respected and met requirements of SGP. In particular, it pays attention to states, which couldn't fulfill these fiscal conditions. Then it devotes to critics of SGP and academic reform proposals on its reform. It cites debate on the level of member states and European Union institutions, their opinions and reform proposals too. On the basis of this discussion it has been created a new alteration of Stability and Growth Pact - it is also described and evaluated in this thesis. However, this reformed version of SGP is more flexible, but it will probably leads to loosening of fiscal rules and here is a risk, that in this form, it will never work well. Racist legislation of Nazi Germany
Vernerová, Denisa ; Seltenreich, Radim (advisor) ; Horák, Záboj (referee)
The thesis is divided into nine separate chapters. In the first chapter, I focused on the aftermath of the First World War. Shortly after the cessation of fighting, representatives of the powers involved met in France to establish responsibility for the outbreak of the global conflict. The Treaty of Versailles imposed high financial reparations on Germany and also stipulated a reduction of the German army and, last but not least, the removal of a part of the German territory. The second and third chapters are devoted to postwar developments in Germany. After the war, Germany became a republic, namely a democratic republic. The Weimar Republic even had one of the most democratic constitutions in Europe. From its establishment, the republic was facing hardly surmountable difficulties in the field of internal politics, economy and later finance. It is therefore no wonder that the citizens, disappointed in democracy, heeded the positively sounding mottos of the National Socialists on the eradication of unemployment and the improvement of living standards for all. I have divided the era of Hitler's Germany into three periods in terms of taking antisemitic measures for the purposes of better orientation in the text. In the first period, the Nazis focused primarily on the elimination of the Jews (with some...
