The main goal of this thesis was to design a computer program applicable in occupational therapy in cognitive rehabilitation. I designed a PC program focused on shopping practice. Its main advantages are: the absence of any charges, the possibility of using it on an ordinary PC and the accessibility via the Internet. The designed program, named Trénink nakupování (~Shopping training), had been implemented in a beta version. Afterwards, it was tested and evaluated with a questionnaire by five stroke patients. The results show that all patients evaluated the program very positively and they believe in its benefits for the rehabilitation. The theoretical part describes cognitive training and shopping from the perspective of an occupational therapist. Four PC training programs focused on shopping training are described. Other sections provide detailed information about the designed program. The practical part consists of testing, the evaluation of questionnaires and suggesting ways to improve the program in the future. Sociological aspects of impulsive shopping.
Pfeiferová, Jitka ; Osuský, Michal (advisor) ; Buchtík, Martin (referee)
This thesis concerns topic of decision-making, primarily whether is it more rational or irrational process and what does it imply. To make the topic more concrete the thesis and qualitative research, which is its important part, is focused on decision making during shopping. The research is aimed at exploring proportion of rational and irrational purchases, course of whole process and factors which influence it. Starting point represents result of published research, which says that 70% of purchases are impulsive (unplanned) and therefore decision-making and people themselves are irrational. However research conducted within this thesis shows, that irrationality and impulsivity are probably two different categories which should not be confused together. After defining what does "irrational purchase" exactly mean it seems that respondents made circa 20% of irrational purchases while impulsive were 65% of purchases. Thus decision-making appears to be more rational, which leads to consideration, how could it work in general. Another important issue addressed in the thesis is existence of emotions as unconscious impulses which initiate and affect decision-making. The research indicates their existence, at that in all categories of purchases (even planned and rational).
