Mythological and semiotic niveau of the chosen posters of the Third reich

This thesis deals with the poster of the Nazi Third Reich and the ideology shaped by the images and text communication, which it presents. The work looks at the poster as an important medium of communication that served Nazi propaganda to spread National Socialist ideology. This thesis aims to analyse these myths and debunk them in the way how Roland Barthes defines them in his book Mythologies. The author of the diploma thesis applies the traditional method of qualitative research of the media content - mythological and semiotic analysis - to demystify the myths and semiotic characters used in the selected Nazi posters. The first part of the thesis contains terminology, the second part presents the analysis of the individual posters, which are divided into several groups. In the conclusion of the thesis, the author presents a list of common symbols and myths, which are the result of the analysis.
"Visual communication analysis. The case of contemporary European theatre posters"

The aim of the diploma thesis is to describe and define basic principles of visual communication from the point of view of mass communication theory and classical media theory and to attempt to create a basic synthesis of these branches. The visual communication is currently dominating form of communication not only in advertising and marketing, but also from the point of purely artistic expressing, which nowadays abandons classical conservative techniques and searches for new ways of expressions. The focus on the diploma on European theatre poster, which is a factual synthesis of those trends, allows adequately assessment the relevance of media theory in relation to visual communication as a way of addressing recipients with the information given in a form of an image. The topic of European poster has been chosen to widely demonstrate the general acceptance of visual communication as a part of sociocultural discursion in a global sense. Another dimension of a theatre poster is its function in public space and the possibilities of the audience to accept the message in these surroundings. On the background of relevant media theory it will also be presented the position of contemporary theatre poster among new trends of mass communication. This rigorous thesis develops and widens the author's diploma thesis, which was defended, under the title "Analysis of visual communication. The case of contemporary theatre posters" at the Faculty of Social Sciences in June 2014, with excellent assessment. The previous aim of the diploma thesis was to describe and define basic principles of visual communication from the point of view of mass communication theory and classical media theory and to attempt to create a basic synthesis of these branches. The rigorous thesis elaborates the outputs of the research further, and analyzes them in relation to social and communication networks. Josef Wenig's artworks from the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague

This bachelors thesis deals with the life and work of a Czech painter Josef Wenig, who made his artistic awarness primaraly as a theater artist and illustrator. The focus of this thesis is a set of Wenig's drawing designs and graphic realization held in the collections of Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. Propaganda poster of 1950's as a medium of ruling ideology

The thesis deals with propaganda poster as a specific medium of communist propaganda between 1948 - 1956. The first part describes a historical context regarding the social, political and economical reconstruction. The thesis is focusing on poster as a specific tool of propaganda concerning a connection to Soviet Union and a socialist realism as an official art style. At the same time the thesis is describing the communist propaganda and its characteristic elements with the connection to a new media control and censorship. The propaganda poster is viewed as a distinctive medium used by communist propaganda for a persuasion and ideological influence to society. The thesis is focusing on posters oriented on building a new attitudes to work and work process as a typical part of first years of communist regime in the time of building of a socialism in Czechoslovakia. Based on archive files the work is describing how and in which institutions were the posters controled and created. The last part is trying to bring an analysis of specificgroups of posters from the representation, stereotypes, input contect, typical rhetoric and symbols point of view.
Photographic Poster at the Art Education

ANOTATION This thesis examines a discourse of photography and poster, with the aim to join these two phenomena into a single summary theory and create their general characteristics. The work searches for intersections between photography and graphic design/poster and applies them in the theory of poster creation. In the didactic part, the theoretical principles are introduced into teaching art classes at primary schools. The same approach is applied in the artwork itself. Visual aspect of local election campaigns in 2010

This bachelor thesis is titled Visual aspect of local election campaigns in 2010 and it concerns the visual aspect of election campaigns before elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2010. Text is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part introduces concept of the complex communicate and his specifics, describes cooperation between image and text, concerns photography as a mean of political advertising communication, manipulation, retouch, objectivity and perception of photographs. The practical part describes the visual aspect of election campaigns of five political parties: Czech Social Democratic Party, Civic Democratic Party, TOP 09, Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia and Public Affairs. These political parties gained more than five percent of electoral votes and therefore they have their representatives in the Chamber of Deputies. Campaigns took place in spring 2010. Thesis focuses mainly on the outdoor advertisement like billboards, citylights, posters and leaflets. Campaigns are described in individual chapters with use of combination of methods of qualitative analysis based on Roland Barthes (Rhetoric of the Image) and Gillian Rose (Visual Methodologies). The theme of this thesis is based on my interest in art around 1900and follows my Bachelor thesis. In chronological sequenced chapters will show Arnošt Hofbauer's life story and describe his artistic development, among others it will also analyze foundation of S. V. U. Mánes, periodical Volné směry etc. In the end of the thesis I attached the catalogs of his work from public and private collections for a complete view of his work. The aim of this thesis is to present Hofbauer's creative work in the most integrated form and in cultural-historical context. I attempt to evaluate his position in the Czech art history.
