Essays in applied econometric modelling of central european financial markets
Bubák, Vít ; Víšek, Jan Ámos (advisor) ; Caporale, Gugliemo Maria (referee) ; Speight, Alan (referee)
This thesis consists of three chapters concerned with applied econometric modeling of Central European (CE) financial markets. The first chapter ("The Distribution and Dynamics of Central European Exchange Rates: Evidence from Intraday Data") lays out a solid empirical framework for accurate modeling and forecasting of Central European exchange rates using intraday data. In sharp contrast to the parametric methodology generally encountered in the empirical literature, the analysis present in this chapter relies on flexible and computationally simple non-parametric approach. The second chapter ("Volatility Transmission in Central European Foreign Exchange Markets") adopts the same non-parametric framework to study the volatility transmission among the CE exchange rates and the U.S. dollar. In particular, this chapter provides a thorough analysis of the extent to which shocks to foreign exchange volatility in one forex market transmit to current and future volatility in the other forex markets under study as well as of the dynamic evolution of the corresponding volatility spillovers over time. Finally, the third chapter ("Dependence Structures on Central European Equity Markets") investigates the existence of asymmetric dependence structures between the Central European and major Western equity markets and...

Usage of Markov chains in banking
Klímová, Hana ; Marada, Tomáš (advisor) ; Prášková, Zuzana (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to get acquainted with the theory of Markov chains and to show how it is used in banking for estimation of credit rating transitions. In the first part, an introduction to the theory of discrete-time and continuous-time Markov chain with discrete state space is provided. In the next part three estimating methods that are used to calculate credit rating transitions - namely cohort method, durability method and Aalen-Johansen estimator are described theoreticaly. In the last part these methods are applied to calculate the matrices of transition probabilities on the basis of real rating migrations. Next an empirical transition matrix is used to simulate set of rating progressions, which are then used for estimating the original matrix by all the above mentioned methods. Finally the distance between the original and estimated matrices is evaluated to show the differences between the methods.

3D modelling in Blender

The goal of this work is to create a comprehensive manual for program Blender. The work will guide a beginner user through the process of modelling. Blender is a free software used for creating animations and 3D visualizations which can then be used in the television industry, game industry, movies or commercials. This work in it's introduction mentions benefits and disadvantages of this product and lists similar products available worldwide. The rest of the work is dedicated to creating 3D models and describes scene modelling, texturing, lighting and rendering practices.

Selected Software Products for Simulation Modeling and its Comparison
Láznička, Jan ; Mildeová, Stanislava (advisor) ; Velehradský, Petr (referee)
A thesis deals with simulation modeling. After opening theoretic information about models, discrete and continuous simulations, computer technologies for systems modeling and individual phases of simulation process, there follows a case study, which demonstrates using of three software products for simulation modeling -- SIMUL8, Simprocess and Powersim Studio. Created models, experiments with them and given results, including well-arranged tabular comparison of mentioned computer programs according to defined criteria, point out strengths and weaknesses of each software. Simultaneously, data for selection of an appropriate program are presented, depending on a sphere type, which is simulation modeling to be applied on.

Comparison of software products for management of law offices on the Czech market
Šimková, Hana ; Svatá, Vlasta (advisor) ; Bachmann, Petr (referee)
This final thesis analyzes the most represented complex software products for management of law offices on the Czech market. At the beginning of this paper are described specifics of law offices with their classification applicable for the Czech Republic and facts that distinguish the advocacy from other fields. The next part follows with characterization of particular law office, activities of this office and software products which are used there. Other part of this work is focused on a process analysis of the mentioned law office which is introduced by a theoretical base of process modeling. Defined key processes were modeled and then options for their software support were specified. Criteria for evaluating software products were identified based on the information obtained during the preparation phase. After selection of the three most represented products these products were described and evaluated. Other chapters of this work are focused on the software which is called Acta Safe and which was developed by AiP Safe, s.r.o. Strengths and weaknesses of this software were specified in comparison to selected products of competition and then modifications and improvements were proposed. At the end of this paper are presented results of the survey. This survey was attended by lawyers and articled clerks from various sized law offices. The aim of this questionnaire survey was to determine if there is a connection between focus of the law offices and the need of using a software solution for a law office. How such software is selected, what implementation of the software brings and why there are some law offices that do not use such software. Answers to these questions are provided at the end of this thesis.

Optimization of separation and quantification of prospective products of big bang
Smitka, Jaroslav ; Tesařová, Eva (advisor) ; Kalíková, Květa (referee)
The thesis is a contribution to research aimed at modeling the conditions of the Big Bang and monitoring possible reaction products. As the starting compounds were selected 2- amino-1-butanol, 3-methoxy-1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-butanol, formamide, some of which were subsequently bombarded by PALS at J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physics, Academy of Sciences. Gas chromatography hyphenated with mass spectrometry and liquid chromatography with UV detection were used for analysis. In GC-MS, calibration of 3- methoxy-1-propanol and 2-methyl-1-butanol was carried out and LOD and LOQ were calculated. Comparison of 3-methoxy-1-propanol and bombarded 3-methoxy-1-propanol did not show the emergence of new products since 3-methoxy-1-propanol was in excess. The found compounds can be more likely identified as impurities present in a solvent or in the individual standards. The optimized HPLC system has managed to separate the three standards. Formamide, which is unsuitable for analysis by gas chromatography, due to its high polarity, however, eluted in all tested systems with system peak (the dead time marker). Nevertheless, the bombarded sample was analyzed for comparison with the original standard. Comparison, however, showed no reaction products in the bombarded sample. Key words: big bang laser sparks formamide...

Rationality of child labour and its effects on labour market
Vislous, Václav ; Benáček, Vladimír (advisor) ; Bauer, Michal (referee)
Child labor is still a big issue in the developing world. However, with an expand- ing literature base, we can conprehend its sources and policies in which we try to affect it in a much more precise way. This thesis reviews relevant literature regarding child labor. The scope of this review covers historical origins of child labor during the Industrial Revolution, its basic economic modelling, coercive measures against child labor, the effects of globalization, international trade, transitory income shocks and credit constraints on child labor and education. The main contribution to the literature are the three lessons about child labor. First, the parallels between findings about child labor in today's developing countries and the Industrial Revolution are studied. Second, it is showed that in the case of an import ban on child labor produce, there is always a better solution for children. Finally, previously unstudied consequences of Conditional Cash Transfer programs on children's motivation for education are related. Keywords Child labor, history, international trade, globalization, transitory income shocks, credit constraints, education, food for education, coercive measures, intrinsic motivation

Krejčíř, Jaroslav ; Kulhánek, Lumír (referee) ; Dohnal, Mirko (referee) ; Myšková, Renáta (referee) ; Rejnuš, Oldřich (advisor)
The doctoral dissertation studies applications of the methods of qualitative modelling to solve problems associated with external credit ratings. Qualitative modelling is a tool which can solve tasks under shortage of relevant information items. Correlation analysis is used if relevant data sets are available and complement the qualitative analysis. External credit rating assessments are closely related to possibilities of insolvency of business entities and the subsequent bankruptcies. Mutual interlinks of bankruptcy probabilities and qualitative models are presented in details. Two specific models are given. Due to the adopted legislative measures were also tested match of the ratings from a variety of external credit rating agencies using cluster and correlation analysis. The above mentioned results are used to develop a qualitative model of external credit ratings, which is the main outcome of this dissertation. The results of model scenarios of assessment of the influence of regulation external credit rating on the business entity, investors, as well as regulatory authorities are presented in details.
