Abstract UHLÍŘOVÁ, Markéta. 'Child with Disabilities in Foster Care'. Prague : Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague, 2011. 140 pp. Graduation Thesis. In the opening chapters of the thesis entitled 'Child with Disabilities in Foster Care' are defined basic concepts relating to disability issues and there are also outlined options of care for a child with disabilities and their families. More text in detail deals with foster care, defines the essential functions of the family and describes various forms of foster care, which are applied to provide care for orphaned children socially in the Czech Republic. The main part of work deals with foster care, its history and particular types, given the current state of implementation of foster care in the Czech republic and discusses the process of mediation foster care with regard to the child with disabilities. The survey based on analysis of interviews with the famaliare experience, that has accumulated during their life foster-mothers, who take care to children with disabilities. The work is concluded by an evaluation of lessons learned and outlining ways on how to use them for those, who think about implement of the foster care and they would be willing to accept a child with disabilities.
International standards Quality for Children in the practice of the social and legal protection of children in the Czech republic

Master's Degree Thesis. The object of this work is to identify the weaknesses of the current system of the alternative care by comparing casuistry with the standards of quality. I use casuistry of the current or former clients of foster care. In the first part I put the topic of social and legal protection of children into context of international and constitutional documents. There is also a chapter about the Standars Quality4Children. Then I focus on the situation in the Czech republic. I start with the descripction of the current system and finish with the process of transformation of the system of care for children at risk. The bill changing the Act No. 359/1999 Coll. on the social and legal protection of children was published. The Position of Profesional Foster-mather in The SOS Children's Villages

This dissertation deals with the position of foster-mother in SOS children's villages. The first part focuses on the legislative background of the operation of these facilities for foster care in the context of the development organization SOS Children's Villages in the Czech Republic and the international organization SOS Kinderdorf International. It discusses the problem of Czech SOS Children's Villages, when foster-mother is responsible for the child entrusted to foster care, which is the difference from the Czech villages than villages in the other countries. The second part analyzes the role of the SOS foster-mother. It offers a reflection on the meaning of the concept of the archetypal mother and changes of maternal role. The dissertation maps a question of motivation and readiness for fostering.Step by step are described SOS foster-mothers's career stages and are development cycles of SOS families. The work deals with the controversial topic, such as support for an SOS foster-mother. The Options of the Non-Govermental Organizations in the Substitutional Family Care

This thesis "The Options of the Non-Governmental Organizations in the Substitutional Family Care" deals with the description of the roles, functions and options of the non-governmental organizations in the field of the substitutional family care. First objective is to create a list of these organizations. Next objective is a description of the subtitutional family care system as well as a description of the roles and options of the nonprofit sector in this field from the non- governmental organization's employees point of view. This description is based on the analysis of interviews with these employees as well as the employees of the governmental organizations from this field. This thesis also focuses on the collaboration in the substitutional family care system. The last part offers a summary of the outcomes and some recommendations for the improvement of children at risk assessment system.
Specific needs of children in foster family as a consequence of early trauma

This thesis deals with a topic of specific needs of early traumatised children living in a foster family. The theoretical part is divided into five chapters. The first chapter describes foster care as a part of Czech system of care about children in need. The second chapter deals with the psychological development in early childhood. The third chapter applies itself to early trauma and its causes. The fourth chapter is focused on consequences of early trauma and resulting specific needs of children. The fifth chapter is devoted to the possibilities of working with early traumatised children in a foster family. The following practical part consists of three segments. The first one has a form of research among foster parents. It is focused on specific needs of children and also a need of support, which should be given to foster families. The second section presents the research survey among non-profit organisations that deal with direct support for foster families. It examines their experience with a topic of early trauma. The third section presents a unique project of one Czech organisation, which is focused on the transition of child from institutional care to family environment.

Prague: Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague, 2012, 114 pp. Diploma Thesis. The aim of my diploma thesis was to map the main cause which take part in premature end of foster care in our country. I have recorded this problematic since the year 1996 up to now. I have focused on definition and forms of foster care. Further on the process of its arrangement and the starting conditions which have an influence on foster care. I have introduced and compared the results of two big Czech studies which were devoted in this topic and were published in the interval of 15 years. Besides the failure cause of foster care on the foster parents side and children entrusted into a foster care and the system of alternative family care I have also focused on factors which contributes to its success on the other hand. In the practical part I have tried to get more deeply into the cause of foster care failure from the view of social workers from OSPOD. Theme: Child's life in a foster care This Bachelor Paper deals with the points at issue of a foster care, especially living together of foster parents and a child with educational problems taken into care. The goal of this Bachelor Paper is to introduce problems of foster care and show a real case of a child with educational problems and show how this situation is solved in this family. The Paper should provide an answer to what factors could affect educational problems of the child. The Paper is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical ones. The bachelor thesis on the topic of "Substitute Family Education" deals with the issue of foster care in the Czech Republic. This thesis investigates the family, its irreplaceable role in educating individuals, the history of foster care, the foster care system in the Czech Republic, legislation, the definition of various forms of foster care, foster parents, adoptive parents and non-profit organizations providing foster care - SOS Villages. The aim of the thesis is to become familiar with the issue of foster care in the Czech Republic, to clarify the rules for placing children in foster families, to point out some problems of children that come with foster care using the case of three foster families, and assess its importance and necessity for children and society.
