Substance abuse among the top bodybuilders in the Czech Republic

In the last few years, the interest in bodybuilding has increased but unluckily it is often accompanied by taking doping substances. At this time, we have been already informed about anabolic steroids exclusively through the media spreading the news about the doping scandals of top athletes. Although many books were written about doping and bodybuilding, their first publishing was dated to 2000 and the literature today mainly focuses on nutrition and training. The goal of my thesis was to map the view of top bodybuilders on doping at the professional and hobby level and their knowledge of the effects of prohibited substances. The qualitative research was made by the series of dialogues that were semi-structured and with the agreement of respondents. The information was recorded on a dictaphone, transcribed and edited. The main research questions were based on the risks that are bodybuilders aware of, their motivation for the sports and possible use of the prohibited substances. They were also asked about their experience of the addiction to them. According to the research, the athletes are well-informed about all the risks. The main topic of this work will be the origin and progress of the biggest bodybuilding competition on the world Mr. Olympia and associated themes. In this work should be found the main history events of world bodybuilding, important competitors and functionaries. The main goal of the work was the explore and record the early years of the bodybuilding competition Mr. Olympia. Other goals included recording the main characters that are related to evolution of Mr. Olympia and linking the theme with the elementary world history of world bodybuilding. The main method is a historical method. The main topic was elaborated. The structure of the work corresponds to the individual stages of development of the given competition. The work can be used to search for historical facts related to the given issue and should help to better understand the topic. Informations and use of suplements in bodybuilding of young beginners and advanced bodybuilders.

This bachelor thesis deals with dietary supplements and their use in practitioners on both amateur and semi-professional levels. The main goal is to map out the overall usability and awareness of fit center visitors. In the first part, the theoretical part of the thesis is devoted to food supplements, their forms and division. In the second part were selected substances that are used as supplements in exercisers and further analyzed in terms of their function and effects on the body of the athlete. The research itself was conducted in the form of an anonymous questionnaire survey, which was sent to respondents electronically. The questionnaire was created on google.com and distributed in both electronic and printed form. Respondents were searched in several ways. Personal sports contacts were used to fill in and distribute questionnaires and send questionnaires to various sports clubs. The survey itself was attended by 263 respondents. The main goal of mapping the use of food supplements has shown that respondents have some information gaps in the effects of different types of food supplements. In addition to the main goal, four hypotheses were also confirmed, which were subsequently confirmed after data collection.
The influence of anabolic steroids on the physical and healthy problems of bodybuilders and players of american football

The objective of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the effects of anabolic steroid use and its physical and mental aspects. The first part introduces anabolic steroids, explains how they are used and how they influence ones health. It also gives information about doping. The practical part includes qualitative research which was done with use of questionnaire and also interviews. First method mentioned was conducted with electronic questionnaire. All selected respondents trained strenght at least two times a week while having used anabolic substance. This particular analysis focuses mainly on negative health effects on the human body.
Bodybuilding preparation for the competition - comparation category of competition and difference between theier preparation

In the following theses, I would like to focus on bodybuilding preseason with competitive ambitions, describe the preparation in detail, explain the sequence, main attributes, synchronization, correct posing and common mistakes. In addition, I aim to compare variances of individual categories and particular competitions from amateur to professional level under the rules of IFBB (International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness). My thesis might clash with rules and categories of other organizations such as NABBA (National Amateur Body-Builder's Association), INBA (International Natural Bodybuilding Association) and others, therefore IFBB was purposefully mentioned. I searched thru publications, discussed the given topic with Czech bodybuilding and fitness stars, and utilized my personal experience which I collected as competitive bodybuilder and trainer in variation of bodybuilding categories. I wished to introduce the sport that has become my lifestyle to the wider audience.
Nutrition in bodybuilding and fitness

Title: The nutrition in bodybuilding and fitness Purposes: The aim of the Bachelor thesis was to reveal differences in nutrition of active competitors in bodybuilding and fitness versus recommendations of publicly available scientific literature about nutrient intake, use of dietary supplements and adherence to drinking in the bulk, cutting and final period of super-compensation. Methods: For the research, the qualitative method was chosen as a survey. The questionnaire is divided into questions about the different periods of preparation for the competition in bodybuilding and fitness. It contains a combination of open and closed questions. The selected set of examinations was a random sample of competitors in different categories of bodybuilding and fitness. Results: In the survey, it was found that competirors usually eat according to recommendations made available to the public. However, individual differences were also found in nutrition intake, drinking, use of dietary supplements in the bulk and cutting period. Were found the specific procedures in nutrition intake, drinking, use of dietary supplements and sweeteners in the period of super-compensation. The Bodybuilding Movement and Revolution: The Social History of Physicality in Czechoslovakia

The thesis tries to process a topic of bodybuilding phenomenon in the wider context of the ideal body formation in modern age. Bodybuilding is understood as a specific socio-cultural phenomenon closely tied to a modern society and its historical development. Beyond the bodybuilding the work also deals with an analysis of the contemporary social body theory with focus on the domestic discourse and subsequently also with an analysis of discursive formation modern physicality from the Enlightenment till the 20th century. The main focus is put on the understanding of changes characteristic for the modern society in context of the modernisation project continuity. The objective is to describe a history of bodybuilding within the outlined process of modernization, as well as to compare various alternative conception of the ideal of physicality in the "Fordism Modernity", where a special attention is focused on the analysis of bio political discourse in Communist dictatorship. Specifics of Pre-Competition Training in Bodybuilding and it's Influence on Body Composition

Title: Specifics of Pre-Competition Training in Bodybuilding and it's Influence on Body Composition Objectives: The aim of this thesis is description of specifics nutrition and training methods in pre-competition training in bodybuilding and practical assessment of their influence on body composition in the test subjects. Methods: Skinfold calliper technique using callipers type Best and bioimpedance analysis using devices BIA 2000 and Tanita MC-980. Results: After completing of intervention program and measurement of body composition, compiled on the basis of negative energy balance, using carbohydrate restriction combined with high-intensity strength training and subsequent measurement of body composition, we found an expected changes of their parameters as was observed their individual response on intervention. Both subjects achieved a significant reduction of subcutanneous fat (proband no. 1 = - 7 %, proband no. 2 = - 3,2 %) and total fat (proband no. 1 = - 2,7 ± 0,3 %, proband no. 2 = - 3,2 ± 0,4 %). Furthermore we observed a distinct change in the total amount of muscle mass (proband no. 1 = - 2,5 kg, proband no. 2 = + 1,1 kg) while deterioration of muscle quality defined by changes of ECM / BCM coefficient values. The Preparation of an Athlete for Bodybuilding Competition

Title: The Preparation of an Athlete for Bodybuilding Competition Goal: This Thesis aims to describe in detail how to prepare an athlete for a competition in bodybuilding in bikini fitness category. The effect of a training was assessed on the basis of body composition, performance and placing in national competitions. The emphasis was placed on the reduction of body fat while maintaining muscle mass. A partial goal was a participation of a competitor in body building competition in bikini fitness category and achieving the best possible position. Methods: In thesis, there were used anthropometric methods, i.e. body measurements of chest, waist, stomach, hips, thighs, calves and arms. With help of InBody device, changes of body composition were evaluated. There were not used any invasive methods during the research. Strength training lasted 60-70 minutes 6 times a week for 16 weeks. Aerobic activity was included from the 7th week of preparation and lasted 45 - 60 minutes. Results: The result of thesis in meaning of reducing fat while maintaining muscle mass was positive. There was a weight reduction from 62.8 kg to 56.4 kg, i.e. a reduction of 6.4 kg. Skeletal muscle mass decreased by 0.2 kg from the original 28.2 kg to 28 kg. Body fat decreased from 10.2 kg (16.2%) to 6.1 kg (10.8%), i.e. 4.1 kg. After the...

Title: The proposal of musculoskeletal program for beginners in fitness Objectives: The goal is to differentiate their policies from which should be based on and should respect the schedule of sports training beginners in fitness. To characterize the fitness as a movement and as a separate sport. Focus on beginners, the diversity of levels of musculoskeletal disposition, respectively, on the process of the adoption of a beginner after the introductory training units including a vision for the future. On the basis of the chosen criteria for drawing up the plan to propose a musculoskeletal sports training program for beginners in fitness. Methods: The work has exact character and is based on the literature search supported by information obtained by the method of observation. Its purpose is to collect and interpret information from available materials due to fitness, and then create a musculoskeletal program for a beginner. Results: The result of the work is the design of a structured program for beginners to increase physical fitness.
