How to think Architecture in a new way. Late though of Peter Eisenman and his critical theory of architecture

Dissertation thesis "How to think Architecture in a new way. Late though of Peter Eisenman and his critical theory of architecture" tries to summarise and analyse the key thoughts of architect and thinker Peter Eisenman in his late oeuvre. The point of departure of his theoretical thinking seems to be refusal of any timeless essence of architecture and a will to "dislocate" architecture from influence of metaphysics. The way to this is "criticality", a notion constituted with three basic terms: interiority (the interiority of architecture defines the discipline, what it is that makes architecture singular), exteriority (external concepts that change architecture by being internalised into the discipline and changing it) and anteriority (anteriority is the sedimented history of architecture; history of interiority). These three terms are according to Eisenman connected in a notion of "undecidability" that serves as a central criterium to criticality and in a "diagram" that is a mean to overcome metaphysical implications of architecture. At the end of the thesis there is a summary of Eisenman's theoretical work and its importance and an attempt is made to set so conceived whole in its entirety to the thought of "end of metaphysics". Genesis, the television oratorio. Audio-visual analysis within the context of Czech television opera

The present thesis proposes a deconstructive analysis of Czech television oratorio Genesis (director Pavel Hobl, music Zbigniew Wiszniewsky, Czechoslovak Television and Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen, 1969). Using concepts of voice-object and acousmêtre, this study examines music of the oratorio as an important narrative feature of the audio-visual object. The text interprets the narrative of the oratorio as a crituque of logocentrism and rationalism of modern society. Beside the interpretative part, the study duscusses history and preception of the genre of television opera in Czechoslovakia from early 60s to 1989. Two concepts of the production of television opera are introduced: first, a concept of television opera as a mediator of an existing operatic work, or as means of cultural education of "mass audience"; secondly, television opera is called to represent a new art form using specific television means. These concepts are found in texts by Czech music theorists and journalists of 60s, when the disputation about television opera in Czech journals culminated. Totalitariankitsch and underground. The semiotic model.

As a consequence of a process of semiotic totalization of public life in totalitarian societies, a system of social, esthetic, ethic and language norms becomes radically altered. This system is partially described in Totalitarian kitsch section, in chapters called Totality, Kitsch, Art, Language, Esthetics and Myth. In a passage called Underground, totalitarian realism and Egon Bondy's and Ivan Vodseďálek's gauche poetry is interpreted as a model reply on totalitarian society conditions. A concept of total poetry is introduced. We ask a question: what actually total poetry is, if not an art? Eleven answers are being sequentially found: 1. it is a complex of apocryphal texts of socialistic realism, 2. it is a game about art, 3. it is culture at the phase of being born, 4. a method of phenomenological reduction, 5. a language game, 6. de-construction of myth, 7. occupation of game position within totalitarian society, 8. a myth, 9. a semiotic clearance process carried out through semiotic rage, 10. symbolization of reality and realization of symbol, 11. call for a game. In the end, we try to define total poetry in relationship to avant-garde, modern art and postmodernism. Issues of Values of Education in Postmodern Society in the Early 21st Century

The aim of the thesis is to outline the issues of current conception of values as moral standards in postmodern society and to identify the consequences of this conception for education. The thesis tries to analyze current pluralist society on the base of literature, which is relevant to given subject. The thesis deals with a question, if and under what conditions is possible to determine socially valid values and if is possible to integrate them into the process of education. The text is divided into two chapters, the first of them deals with issues of postmodern society, pluralism and philosophical deconstruction and tries to indicate relations with education. The second chapter is focused on the problem of values, current educational objectives and the last part of this chapter is focused on the authority of education in current society. Reception of Deconstruction in Recent Art Historiography

The reception of deconstruction in recent art historiography The aim of the presented master thesis is to outline the reception of deconstruction in the contemporary art historiography and the introduction of its effects on the discipline of art history. The work deals with the term deconstruction in the sense of (1) the original philisophical and critical writing of Jacques Derrida, and (2) the method, which was implemented to literary studies at the end of the 70s and later on to other humanities, including the art history. First, theoretical part of the thesis introduces Derrida's thoughts, epistemology and the strategy of deconstruction. Second part reflects the epistemological changes a implementation of the deconstructive criticism into the art history. After imbedding the "deconstructive" current into the broader development of art history and reading of some methodological handbooks, we turn to concrete works of some art historians and their individual uses of the deconstructive implulses, namely Donald Preziosi, Norman Bryson, Michael Ann Holly, Keith Moxey, and to a lesser extend also W. Postmodernism in British and American comics : postmodernist overtones in the works of Alan Moore and Grant Morrison

The aim of this thesis is the examination and analysis of postmodernist overtones in the medium of comics. It is concerned both with the postmodernist content in comics, and comics' possibilities and attributes as a postmodernist medium. The first part of the thesis elaborates on sequential art in general and the essential elements of postmodernism, such as deconstruction, metafiction, and intertextuality, within its context. Definable classes of modules and deconstruction of cotorsion pairs

The goal of this work was to prove the fact, that definable closure of any subclass of cotorsion modules closed under direct sums consists of $\Sigma$-cotorsion modules. The only known proof uses substantially the calculus of derived category, in this work we tried to prove the same, but only by means of a given category of all right $R$-modules and set-theoretic properties of partial orders indexing direct systems of $R$-modules. The main results of this work are proved under additional assumptions on the ring $R$, in particular $\vert R\vert\leq\aleph_{\omega}$ or $\text{dim}(R)<\aleph_{\omega}$. Postmodern Czech Performances in Theory and in Practice

The thesis deals with the way of using the term postmodernism by the Czech-language theatre critique. In the first part I decided to discuss the thesis' subject in the context of other languages' schools of thought. I identified two main possible ways by which philosophers from abroad define the term "postmodernism" in its general meaning. In the first case (e.g. Charles Jencks) I on one hand found out that the term defined as postmodernism can be easily applied considering art -and therefore the theatre as well- but on the other hand I also found that the term itself merge with the meaning of modernism. In the second case (e.g. Jacques Derrida) I came to a conclusion that even though the definition of postmodernism does not merge with definition of modernism, it can be applied only with great difficulties in the cases of theatre and of fine art. Subsequently, I tried to illustrate the way the three approaches manifested themselves into the Czech-language discussion about postmodernism. In the following parts of the thesis I adhered to the theatrical issues more strictly. On the basis of the analyses of two so-called postmodern theatre performances made a ground for the theoretical approach to the means of expression considered as postmodern. (The terminology I used is the one deriving from the work of Otakar Zich and from the Czech structuralism.) In the conclusion of the theatre-theoretic part of my thesis I took the view that the means of expression used in the so-called postmodern theatre productions do not differ in their very nature from the modern ones; that there are different requirements of viewer's reception in the postmodern performaces though. In the very end of my work I considered the problems that appear with the direct transfer of Jacques Derrida's philosophy to the theatre.
Narrative psychotherapy and its usage in cases of defect of personality with exposure of aggressive behavior

This thesis deals with the application of narrative approach during the therapeutic work with clients with diagnosis of emotionally labile personality or dissocial defect of personality with exposure of aggression. Theoretical part of this thesis shows the basics and resources of the systemic constructivistic psychotherapy and the narrative approach as one of the main instruments for the psychotherapeutic work. This thesis also deals with analysis of some psychological views on aggression which are usually used during the therapy.Practical part of this thesis shows the basic elements of narrative approach on case studies with usage of techniques of externalisation, personification and deconstructional harking. Usage of these techniques is condition for the change of the primary client?s story which is affected by aggression. After this turnover on the new story the client is not part of the problematic system but with help of newly discovered resources he gain the ability to perceive himself as a person who is able to eliminate the effect of the aggression as a heterogeneous element and who is able to positively influence own life.
Interpretations of Josef Svejk in the Contexts of Czech and International Literary Science

This graduation thesis with title Interpretations of Josef Švejk in The Contexts of Czech and International Literary Science has an aim doucment and analyze interpretation models of Josef Švejk in the novel The Good Solider Švejk by Jaroslav Hašek. In base the materials gain the figure of Josef Švejk will be assess in context of Czech esthetic and ideal discourse. In graduation thesis will be put big emphasis on sence of language. From this reason is a part of this thesis dedicate to liguistic analysis.
