Principles of News TV Channel Communication Aside the Screen

The theoretical part addresses the means in which ČT24 communicates in the online environment as well as the content that ČT24 publishes on its website and on social media. This part also includes information obtained on the basis of interviews. The empirical part is based on a comparative analysis of TV broadcasting posts as well as online posts. The aim of this part is to determine the effectiveness of of ČT24's communication strategy on its website and on social media. The empirical part reveals the ways in which ČT24 public broadcasting TV modifies content to reach users of these various digital platforms. The empirical part also includes a survey, which addresses the question of attractiveness of ČT24's online platforms for younger audiences.
Typology of series and programming structure of continuous broadcasting CT24

Typologie pořadu a programová struktura kontinuálního vysílání ČT24 Sára Klepáčová Annotation The aim of this thesis is to define and analyze one of the TV shows of the ČT24 news station - Studio ČT24. It is a specific type of continuous broadcast delivered by ČT24 to the viewers, as the only one in Czech republic, every day - seven days a week. In its way it is also unique among the TV shows of european public service media. Theoretical part deals with standart procedures in news broadcasting, starting with acquiring the information and its incorporation into the broadcasting script. This part contains factual notes provided by the ČT 24 news broadcast deputy editor-in-chief František Lutonský. Research aims on the structure of the show itself, particularly on the content, by means of the quantitative content analysis. It demonstrates the structure and composition of the continuous broadcast of the ČT24 news station on the sample of four whole weeks choosed from four programme periods. It also aims on the changes of broadcast composition in case of extraordinary event. in context of the viewership.
Media Coverage of Terrorist Attacks in Europe and in the World in Example of ČT 24 News

Terrorist incidents have been on the rise in Europe recently and are therefore a greatful media theme. An interesting fact, however, is the apperently larger media space in the Czech republic which recieves attacks in European countries as opposed to terrorist attack elswhere in the world. Even if the number of victims of such attacks is often many times larger than in Europe. This work focuses on the media coverage of terrorist attacks on CT24 news television. In the first part of the thesis the author first focuses on the theoretical basis of terrorism, on its characteristics and definitions. In the next part, he is devoted to TV news with respect to CT24 news. Author describes CT24 as a national news station and describes its current and breaking broadcasting scheme. In the analytical part, the author deals with the coverage of selected terrorist attacks in Pakistan, Spain, the USA and Egypt and tries to find out how CT24 devoted to these attacks. Emphasis is placed on the quantitative content analysis of media coverage and on the quantification of types of news reports used to cover CT24's terrorist attacks coverage.
Multitasking as a result of audiovisual media convergence

The primary objective of this work is to determine the extent of media multitasking, as an increasing phenomenon in receptioning media content in the last 20 years; on news channels broadcast. The research sample consists of Czech station CT24, BBC and international version of the American CNN. In the theoretical section, the media convergence is explained in the basic terms and concepts; Following to this section, the thesis includes also a part dedicated to particular consequences of convergence in audiovisual media, which is associated with the multitasking. Moreover, the thesis also reflects multitasking's origin, reasons of its development and its impacts on human cognitive perception. On account of multitasking as a developing form of media reception, news channels react. In image analysis of technical codes associated with multitasking, which was undertaken at all channels for one week, are highlighted multitasking specifics of those channels. Included is a comparison of the differences between those news channels.
The use of social networks as information sources during the floods coverage in 2013 on CT24

This thesis deals with the use of social networks in CT24 emergency continuous broadcasting during the floods in June 2013. Theoretical part describes the phenomena of citizen journalism and focuses on social networks in connection with the use for reporting purposes. Subsequently, I will talk about the news channel CT24. I will briefly describe the basic broadcasting scheme and then I will focus on the interaction of CT24 with the audience during emergency situations. In connection with the topic of the theses I will mention the use of social networks in the broadcasting of CT24 during the floods in 2010. The aim of the practical part is to find out how much CT24 used the information coming from their viewers contributing to the social networks, what was the proportion of the concrete social networks and what was the proportion of the text, photographies and video. Then I will try to find out which areas were mainly observed during the five days period and according to which rules the exact materials were selected in order to contribute to better awareness of the audience. I will analyse how the number of live broadcast of the Czech TV New Media division representatives was changing regarding the development of the situation and whether the presented materials could replace the Czech TV reporter.
Media image of the crimean crisis on Russia Today, CNN and ČT24 news

This thesis analyses how three television stations - Czech ČT24, Russian RT and American CNN - informed about the Crimean crisis which took place in Ukraine in 2014. The first part of the thesis presents theoretical approach and mentions previous similar studies, which focused on examining of medial coverage and framing of war conflicts. Next chapter describes the history of Ukraine briefly and underlines events which could have caused the Crimean crisis. Thereafter the thesis introduces the timeline of the Crimean crisis. In the next part the thesis analyses sources, topics and keywords which appeared in the news of ČT24, RT and CNN. It also describes how particular people and events were visually covered. In the final chapter the approach of the three examined television channels is compared.
The dissolution of the workers'party perceived through the čt 24 channel

This thesis analyses how the Czech Television informed about the second trial with the extremist Czech Workers' Party (Dělnická strana), which ended up dissolving the party. The first part of the thesis deals with far-right extremism studies and the history of Czech far- right-wing extremism from the first Czechoslovak republic up to present day. It also deals with the history of the Workers' Party and its successor, the Workers' Party of Social Justice. The following chapter of the thesis is introduces the evidence that the Czech government mentioned in its charges against the WP. The second part of the thesis analyses how the reporters of the Czech Television informed about the Workers' Party, its members and supporters. The thesis analyses the language of reports, the work of cameramen, and how important this topic was for the Czech Television.
Shootings in Uherský Brod and its news coverage in the broadcast of CT24

The thesis deals with the phenomenon called breaking news in a continuous broadcast of news stations. It consists of theoretical and practical part. The main aim of the theoretical part is to describe the specifics of television news and their transformation caused by the introduction of continuous broadcast. In this context, the technical means used in Czech TV that allow the audience to watch the news live will be described in detail. The main aim of the practical part is to describe the mentioned phenomenon in connection with a specific event - the shootings in Uhersky Brod in February 2015. The main attention of the quantitative research will be focused on the continuous broadcast of CT24 on 24th February 2015 in order to obtain relevant results, which will illustrate the proportion of the information related to the shooting in the CT24 broadcast. TV news service in the Czechoslovakia and after in the Czech republic, with focus on ČT24 news channel

This thesis is focused on history and current situation in TV news service in the Czechoslovakia and after 1993 also in the Czech republic. Primarily the text is focused on statutory Czech TV, the conditions in 50's when the broadcasting started and its development. Very important year in TV broadcasting was 2005, when Czech TV started-up the very new channel - the ČT24. It was created to inform about upcoming events continually, twenty four seven. As the consequence the Czech republic joined other countries with continual news broadcasting service. Development of the ČT24 is described in the thesis in detail. How is the broadcasting scheme of the channel? What personal and technology changes did it bring? How is the ratings? Who is actually preparing the broadcasting and how? Did the ČT24 managed to reach to the target market? The thesis will certainly answer all the questions. Apart from the literature there are also used the real experience from television environment.
Portál ČT24 positionning in the market of news webs in the Czech republic

This thesis compares news web Portál ČT24 to the market leader Novinky.cz. Key part of the work is comparison of the agenda of the both news webs. The agenda itself can be considered as the main product attiring the readers. Furthermore, author identifies the aspects bringing the market leader Novinky.cz its position and enabling the most readers of all news webs available in the Czech republic. Author also analyses news web image its the basic features and the brand used for promotion of both webs. Financial analyse of Portál ČT24 has also been made to stress out financial aspect as limiting factor of the news web development. Another part of the thesis also consists from survey executed on Portál ČT24 and Novinky.cz readers. All the aspects mentioned above enter into the final set of recommendations for Portál ČT24. Its bullet points are maintaining of the current strenghts of Portál ČT24 (e.g. goodwill and brand positioning) as well as the wide range and quality of the news offered. Apart from this, author suggests fosterin promotion and specific changes in it. Those would include also management, particularly in the field of cooperation with other departements of the Czech Television. Cooperation should be simplified by introducing project management methods. Creating business plan in terms of Portál ČT24 development would lead to improvement of communication with the Czech Television management.
