Culture in the public service television

The bachelor thesis "Culture in public service television" deals with the displaying of the culture in public service broadcasting. This work focuses on the analysis of six selected programmes in the fields of theatre, music and culture in the broader sense, namely programs Divadlo žije!, Zveme vás do divadla, MM - dvojitá dávka muziky, Terra musica, Kultura.cz a Kosmopolis, in a defined period of time (second quarter of 2012). The work examines their composition, space devoted to the different cultural sectors and the way the information is presented to the TV viewer. The main issue to solve was how and to what extent the public service television cares about cultural identity and cultural heritage of the population which is a task imposed on this type of media by law.
Transformations of the evening news Události and regional news of ČT since 2007 to 2012

The main aim of the master thesis Transformations of the evening news Události and regional news of ČT since 2007 to 2012 was to introduce news in context of normative theories, television news in context of Czech Republic, their development and current conditions. Theoretical frame of the thesis was political economy of communication, outlining the background of news production, and contributing to understand news issues. Essential part of the thesis was the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis used as a tool for examining news objectivity at evening and regional news of public television Česká televize since 2007 to 2012, its development and differences between evening and regional news. Objectivity was researched through relevance and uncovering bias by visual balance and neutral presentation. It was found that evening news Události dedicate most of the time to foreign, occasional and political events, 35 % of news showed elements of siding, for example by dramatization, possible reality distortion and using expressive expressions. In terms of regional Brno's news Události v regionech it was found that the highest relevance was assigned to points of interest news and local news, 17 % of news showed elements of siding using mostly evaluative expressions. Moderation of news sessions on ČT 24

This work deals with moderation of news programmes on ČT24 in years 2005 - 2010. First we try to sum up history of news broadcast on Czech television and also to tell something about beginning of continual broadcasting in 2005. This type of broadcasting came with new elements to news broadcast and it also significantly affected the work of anchormans. In next part we define the role of anchorman in news broadcasting. Differences between anchorman and quite simmilar jobs as host, reporter or commentator are shown. In the work the means of moderator's communication are defined - verbal and especially nonverbal. Analysis of using this means is content of practical part of work. . We use iVysílání of Czech television for practical research, specifically period 24.5.2010 - 28.5.2010. Forenoon part of broadcasting is analyzed. There is news broadcast every thirty minutes. Items of news are short, catchy and very often we can see changing of news genres - report, interview, read peace of news. This mixing of genres is typical for continual broadcast. We check in analyse if anchormans use nonverbal communication in continual broadcast.

The differences between using mythological archetypes in the news of public and commercial television Ondřej Holub Media studies Abstract The bachelor thesis named " " first gives the explanation of the terms "myth and mythological archetypes" and then it focuses on various aspects of using them in the news broadcasts as well as on various kinds of approach to classical elements of mythical character which occur in news contents and news stories where reality is combined with myth, in general. The mythological archetypes mentioned in specialist literature are then extended by the comparison with examples from traditional - especially Germanic and antique mythologies. Further on the thesis also deals with the mechanisms by which myths are used to help reflex, legitimise and fix the social order and the illusion of its meritocratic character. The conclusion is preceded by the chapter analysing the use of archetypal formulas, which have their roots in the traditional mythology itself, in the two most popular news broadcasts in the Czech Republic. Entertainment programmes in Czech television with an emphasis on public television.

Entertainment has been one of the major genres throughout the history of television, which has served an entertainment function from its very beginning. With the arrival of the dual broadcasting system, the genre became controversial in the context of public service to citizens. The thesis discusses the evolution of entertainment programmes in Czech television, placing an emphasis on Česká televize (Czech Television), the public TV. The thesis provides a comprehensive picture of the genre, putting it in the context of the historical development of Česká televize and, later, the arrival of commercial broadcasters in the Czech Republic. It discusses the development of TV entertainment formats in terms of programming, as well as the possibilities and types of programme production. Yet the most important part is the comparison of private broadcasters' and the public institution's approach to the entertainment genre, which, by definition, tends to be rather commercial in its concept.
The Downfall of Czech TV series

The thesis deals with the qualitative decline of the Czech serial production after the revolution, namely changes in the author-producer relationships, the impact of the introduction of the commercial broadcasters into the market and an internal development of the Public television. The thesis will also look at the changes in developement and production of tv series in the Czech republic. The thesis will be looking for the roots and consequences of this qualitative decline and will compare it with the socialist era as well as the profesional developement of the foreign tv series. Through the analysis of production processes, the text seeks to identify fundamental principles affecting the quality of television production and outline possible systemic changes to strengthen the potential for future domestic as well as foreign succsess of Czech tv production.
Czech Television after 2012

At the end of 2011, there was Petr Dvořák named as the new CEO of Czech public television. His goal was - among other things - to change the development and production in the ČT and reintroduce a system of creative groups, as they were years ago. Majority of graduated students from production department sooner or later come across public television production in the Czech Television. The aim of this work is to explore the main and most visible changes, that Petr Dvořák with his management introduced, and to familiarize the reader with the new ways of development and production of programs in ČT.

The bachelor thesis deals with problem of effectiveness of resources spent by the various presidential candidates in the presidential campaign 2012/2013. The re-cherché is focused on the presidential elections under the current legislation and the methods of conducting political campaigns. The practical part deals with the amount of media time obtained in the public and private televisions by individual presidential candidates and media time obtained compared with the incurred costs of the campaign of the candidates.

In this thesis I deal with the public media programming. On the example of Czech television, Irish RTÉ and Finnish YLE am I trying to show the current tendences in the programming of new project and format as well as to show the relationship between the public broadcasters and new medias. Within the programming this thesis deals with the various types of genres that are broadcasted by public media, on the field of development of new programs it describes the process of development of new projects in the institutions mentioned before. It also analyses the current programming and scheduling of the public media. This thesis also covers the current trends in European public broadcasting companies and shows the trends on the field of develepment of new programms and new media.
The regulation of public television in the Czech Republic and in chosen states of The European Union

This bachelor thesis is focused on public television and on the system of regulation in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and in Poland. The opening chapters describe and explain the basics terms and the evolution of public broadcasting of television in chosen states of The European Union and in the Czech Republic. Another part, based on an analysis of legislation and related documents, refers to the regulation of public broadcasting television in the European context and then deals with the legal framework for the functioning of the Czech television, system control, regulatory authorities, methods of funding, regulation of advertising and outlines the topic of digitalisation. The following parts deal with legal framework, regulatory authorities of public television, methods of funding and regulation of advertising in Slovakia and in Poland. The final chapters try to summarize the finding of the previous chapters and to diskuss the future development of public television.
