Evolution of political communication of movement ANO 2011 since its creation until the parliamentary elections 2013

BARTOŇKOVÁ, Ivana ABSTRACT This thesis is mapping the evolution of communication of the ANO 2011 movement in period from its formation until parliamentary elections in year 2013. The thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, there is summarization of the creation and evolution of political communication as an individual discipline. Practical part focuses on communication of the movement at the time of creation, time of Senate elections 2012, and compares it with communication of movement in parliamentary elections 2013. The observed units were election programs, media appearances, as well as overall processes of campaigns. The main goal of this thesis is to show the evolution of the political communication at the Czech political scene on the example of the new political movement ANO 2011, on which we can observe its fast evolution and dynamics of the discipline, as well as wide variety of techniques used in political marketing.
The framing of eurscepticism in the czech press

The diploma thesis "Framing of euroscepticism in the Czech daily press" deals with political communication about the European Union realized in the czech daily press (namely MF DNES, Právo and Hospodářské noviny) during three events which were essential fot the Czech republic. It was referendum (2003), signing of Lisbon Treaty (2009) and signing of ESM (2013). It focuses on quality and europeanisation of public debate and its changes within this events. It also investigates how eurosceptic actors and and oponions are represented. It is trying to examine what are their possibilities of participating in public debate and identify attitudes of individual tituls. Research methods are quantitative analysis plus frame analysis. It also treats (in theoretical part) concepts like political communication (generally and on the european level), european public sphere and also euroscepticism itself.
On-line communication of The Office of the Government of The Czech Republic in the years 2012 and 2013

This bachelor thesis "Digital communication of Office of the Government of the Czech Republic in 2012 and 2013" wants to describe and analyse one specific part of marketing communications of a public institution. Author provides outline and specifics of political communication. The next part of the thesis describes digital communication as an integral part of mass media communication and also brings basic digital channels overview with focus on social media. The theory of strategic digital marketing communication defines the ideal approach for digital communication of any brand or product. Last part of the thesis focuses on the descriptive analysis of real digital communication of Office of the Government of the Czech Republic via the main digital channels such as websites, Facebook Page and Twitter channel. Author describes frequency of posting, content structure and type of content. The conclusion of this work brings comparison of the theory outputs and real digital communication research and tries to find out, if digital communication of the main Czech institution was correctly and successfuly done.
Media and negative political campaign: czech parliamentary election in 2013

The main objective of the thesis is to analyse the role of selected Czech dailies and online news servers during the assertion of negative political campaigns before Czech parliamentary elections in 2013. The research led to answering the question, how were the newspapers, in comparison to the servers, concerned with the transfer of negative contents performed by Czech political subjects during the period of election campaigning. As the source of analysed data, the thesis used dailies Mlada fronta Dnes and Pravo and online news servers Aktualne.cz and iHNed.cz. The thesis observed a share of negative evaluative remarks in the news content dealing with the topic of Czech political campaign which was concerned with the negative campaigning of Czech political parties, as well as the way in which was this topic commented by the selected media. Crucial part of the thesis is a comparison of the parliamentary elections of 2013 with the preceding elections of 2006 and 2010. The aim was to show how the elections of 2013 fit in a trend of utilisation of negative political communication in Czech setting and how has changed the media coverage of the phenomenon during the observed years. Modern Campaigning in K.Schwarzenberg's presidential campaign - Fundraising, Volunteering, Endorsement

The bachelor's thesis "Modern campaigning in K. Schwarzenberg's presidential campaign: Fundraising, volunteering, endorsement" focuses on specific methods in election campaigns. In the first part it describes fundraising, volunteering and endorsement in context of political communication and marketing. It also mentions reasons for their usage and possible ways of execution and communication. The brief summarization of application of these methods in Czech campaigns is at the end of the first part. The main part of this thesis describes and analyses fundraising, volunteering and endorsement in Karel Schwarzenberg's 2012/2013 presidential campaign using primary and secondary sources. In terms of fundraising the thesis analyses its communication and amount of donations, furthermore, it describes whether practice from the USA was applied. Moreover, the thesis deals with the acquisition of volunteers and individual supporters, also mentioning the internal communication and volunteer communication with voters in the Schwarzenberg's campaign. Potential reasons for emphasis on endorsement are mentioned at the end.
The platform of civic participation in Czech and Slovak Republic

The bachelor thesis "The platform of civic participation in Czech and Slovak Republic" deals with the level of communication and participation among citizens and political parties, which is accessible to a wider range of the public. The work aims to compare the presence of two social democratic parties: the Czech Social Democrat Party (ČSSD) and the Slovak party Direction-Social Democracy (SMER-SD) on their websites from 2006 to the present time. First, the work focuses on the understanding of platforms of civic participation as a subject of political participation and examines the extent to which the parties try to activate their supporters. Furthermore, the concept of civic and political culture of Almond and Verba is analysed in a narrowly defined space within the civil society between political parties and the general population. The work reveals the tendency of parties in the Czech Republic and Slovakia to create internet based platforms between parties and their supporters and tries to evaluate their effectiveness. This master thesis "Visual presentation of presidential candidates on Facebook" provides an image analysis of presidential candidates on social network in the period before and during the election in 2013. The theoretical part tackles the role of visual political communication, including image values and ideology, the relationship of the image and the text or media image research and seamlessly continues the formation of the political media image in modern political communication. The following quantitative content analysis analyses the context of the visual media image building within individual profiles of candidates, evaluates the work with images and text components, discusses the question, who creates the media profile of candidates and in combination with the qualitative image analysis reveals specific features of media profile building of individual candidates.

This Bachelor Thesis on the topic Personalization of political communication in the Czech republic: Quantitative content analysis of presidental campaign 2013 in daily press deals with the developement of political communication and in particular with the trend of personalization. Personalization is the result of several media, social and political changes which emerged after the Second World War. This Bachelor Thesis consists of two parts. The first theoretical part deals with the development of political communication acompannied by the professionalization of political campaigns. Professionalization can be also considered as a precusor to personalization of political communicatin. The second part summarises the results of quantitative content analysis of presidental campaign in 2013 in the Czech republic. This analysis confirmed the hypothesis that political communication in the presidental campaign was personalized. This provided the opportunity for further research.

The thesis "Political image of emerging politicians and media they use to build their image" examines the reationship of young aspiring politicians to the topic of political image. The main objective of this thesis is to examine the relationship of young aspiring politicians to political image and whether they are actively seeking to build their own political image. Young aspiring politicians are defined for purposes of this thesis as members of youth political organizations Young Social Democrats and Young Conservatives over 18 years old. The first part of this thesis summarizes theoretical findings on the issue of political image in terms of political marketing and political communication and defines political youth organizations and describes their function in relation to society and political parties. The second part of this thesis examines the relationship of young aspiring politicians to political image through qualitative research using semi-structured interviews as research tool.
Political communication and politainment in the presidential election of 2013 in the Czech Republic

The presented Thesis "Political Communication and Politainment in the Presidential Election in the Czech Republic in 2013" analyses political communication in the historically first presidential election campaign in the Czech Republic. I saw the presidential election as an opportunity to research a new platform of political communication that politainment is. The primary aim of the Thesis is to introduce this concept in the context of the current nature of political communication and at the same time to identify variables defining this phenomenon in the Czech environment. Analysis of the elements of politainment is performed on campaigns of the two most successful candidates aspiring for the office of the President of the Czech Republic - Miloš Zeman and Karel Schwarzenberg. I focused primarily on the television appearance of both candidates in TV debates broadcasted by Czech Television, which were the climax of the entire presidential campaign. I was interested in the content of communication of both candidates and the overall character of the debates.
