The behavioural equilibrium exchange rate of the czech koruna
Komárek, Luboš ; Melecký, Martin
The behavioural equilibrium exchange rate (BEER) model of the Czech koruna is derived in this paper and estimated by three methods suitable for non-stationary time series. The potential determinants of the real equilibrium exchange rate considered are the productivity differential, the interest rate differential, the terms of trade, net foreign direct investment, net foreign assets, government consumption and the degree of openness.

Šašková, Jaroslava ; Špulák, Marcel (advisor) ; Kuneš, Jiří (referee)
Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Inorganic and organic chemistry Candidate Mgr. Jaroslava Šašková Consultant PharmDr. Marcel Špulák, PhD. Title of Thesis Benzodiazine derivatives as compounds with potential bronchodilatory activity This thesis describes the synthesis of various benzodiazines, in this case derived from quinazoline and quinoxaline. We followed a synthesis of quinazoline derivatives structurally analogous to vasicine and vasicinone, alkaloids isolated from a plant Adhatoda vasica. The original derivatives were tested by the common in vitro model of isolated rat trachea. Two compounds, 4-[3-(piperidine-1-yl)propyloxy]quinazoline and 4-[3-(piperidine-1-yl)propylsulfanyl]quinazoline, showed promising bronchodilatory activities. Therefore, we selected these molecules as model structures for our further syntheses. The first group of compounds was syntesized by oxidation of 4-[3-(piperidine-1-yl)propyloxy]quinazoline. We oxidated a nitrogen atom in the piperidine side chain of the parent molecule and we succeeded to create, in two steps, derivative based on quinazoline-1-oxide. Attempts to oxidize a sulphur atom in 4-[3-(piperidine-1-yl)propylsulfanyl]quinazoline were due to oxidative desulfuration unsuccessful, the only isolated product of...

Diversity, phylogeny and phylogeography of free-living amoebae
TYML, Tomáš
This thesis consists of seven published papers on free-living amoebae (FLA), members of Amoebozoa, Excavata: Heterolobosea, and Cercozoa, and covers three main topics: (i) FLA as potential fish pathogens, (ii) diversity and phylogeography of FLA, and (iii) FLA as hosts of prokaryotic organisms. Diverse methodological approaches were used including culture-dependent techniques for isolation and identification of free-living amoebae, molecular phylogenetics, fluorescent in situ hybridization, and transmission electron microscopy.

Current state of the investment climate in Vietnam
Vu, Ngan ; Gullová, Soňa (advisor) ; Štemberk, Jan (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the current state of the investment climate in Vietnam and the main investment advantages of Vietnam as a country that received considerable inflows of foreign capital in the 1990s as part of its increased integration with the global economy. The theoretical part defines terms of the investment environment such as investment, the investment climate and further definition of the legislative investment conditions for potential investors. The next section is focused on specific impacts of foreign investment on the Vietnamese economy, both in the economic but also the social sphere. In the final section, there are described the examples of foreign investments in Vietnam and also their contribution to the host country.

MDOCTM effect on expression of cell adhesion molecules / / in the vessel wall of ApoE / LDLR-deficient mice
Drnek, Ludvik ; Nachtigal, Petr (advisor) ; Štaud, František (referee)
Atherosclerosis belongs to the cardiovascular diseases, which have been the most frequent cause of the morbidity and mortality in all the economically advanced countries of Europe and the USA in the last few years. The purpose of this thesis was to find some potential hypolipidemic and antiinflammatory effects of MDOC. The new potential substance belongs to the group of dietary fibre. ApoE/LDLr-deficient mice (n=8) was used in the study. The mice were fed with aterogenic diet containing 1.25% cholesterol for 8 weeks. In MDOC group, the mice were fed on the same aterogenic diet, with 5% MDOC added to this diet. Blood sample for the biochemical investigation were taken from animals. Then, partitions of the tissue formed by the aorta together with the upper part of the heart were taken, too. Then, a biochemical analysis of the blood was made and also in aortic sinus and arch an imunohistochemical and stereological analysis of the endothelial expression of VCAM-1 and ICAM-1 were performed. The results of the biochemical analysis showed that MDOC treatment resulted in a significant decrease of total cholesterol, VLDL and significant increase of HDL cholesterol. Stereological analysis of immunohistochemical staining showed significant decrease of VCAM-1 staining in the atherosclerotic lesion after the...

The role of p38-Mapk14/11 as an enabler of primitive endoderm (PrE) maturation and as a sensor of metabolism during mouse preimplantation embryo development
THAMODARAN, Vasanth
ANNOTATION This thesis describes the role of p38 mitogen activated kinases alpha/beta, also referred to as Mapk14/11 (p38-Mapk14/11), in regulating primitive endoderm (PrE) cell-fate and its sensitivity towards exogenously supplemented amino acids during mouse preimplantation embryo development. This study utilizing various pharmacological inhibitors, gene transcript over-expression and immunofluorescence assisted confocal microscopy imaging, has revealed a novel and pivotal role p38-Mapk14/11 in promoting germane maturation of the blastocyst stage inner cell mass (ICM)into the defined epiblast (EPI) and PrE and its potential requirement under amino acid deprived conditions.

Doležal, Rafael ; Waisser, Karel (advisor) ; Lehotay, Jozef (referee) ; Ponec, Robert (referee)
DOLEŽAL Rafael: Quantitative relationships between the structure and antimycobacterial activity of selected potential antituberculotics. Hradec Králové: Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University in Prague, 2008, 274 pp. Ph.D. Thesis. The Ph.D. thesis deals with analysis of quantitative relationships between the structure and antimycobacterial activity (QSAR) of four structural classes of potential antituberculotics - derivatives of N-phenylcarbamic acid esters, derivatives of 1-phenyl-1H-tetrazole-5-thiol, derivatives of salicylamides and derivatives of salicylthioamides. In total, 600 computer models of different compounds were created. 204 of them, after conformational analysis in HyperChem 7.52 and geometric optimization with the B3LYP/6-31G* DFT method in Gaussian 03, provided data for calculation of several types of descriptors. Attention was turned especially to local, quantum-chemical descriptors of electronic properties, such as superdelocalizability, index of frontier electron density and Mulliken electric charge. The QSAR analyses are based on searching for statistically significant correlations between the antimycobacterial activities in vitro and a matrix of various descriptors by means of multiple linear regression (MLR) with the use of a selection algorithm, by the...
