Economic and social consequences of emigration from Yugoslavia in the 70s and 80s of 20th century
Hradilová, Petra ; Chalupecký, Petr (advisor) ; Szobi, Pavel (referee)
Master thesis evaluates the causes and the consequences of emigration from the countries of former Yugoslavia in the seventies and eighties. It focuses particularly on labor emigration to the Federal Republic of Germany. The analysis of the causes of emigration can not be done without a deeper understanding of the economical and economic development from a historical perspective. Therefore, the thesis includes the evaluation of post-war economic development, of the economy and of the mood in society in both countries. The aim of my thesis is to determine whether the main reason for the departure of so many Yugoslavians was especially the high unemployment rate. Whether among the first emigrants were people from less developed parts of the country. Another aim of my thesis is to determine the role played by aspects such as regional disparity of the individual federal states, age, education, religion and social status of migrants, in the issue of migration. What influence the emigration had to the following economic and social development of Yugoslavia. The thesis concludes that the main reason for labor emigration from Yugoslavia was high unemployment, and that the first emigrants were not people from backward areas. Work is mainly based on foreign literature, scientific articles and analysis of the Yugoslav statistical yearbooks.

Analysis of the determinants of unemployment in the Czech Republic, focusing on the influence of characteristics of the region
Čechová, Gabriela ; Brožová, Dagmar (advisor) ; Svoboda, Miroslav (referee)
This thesis deals with the analysis of equilibrium and disequilibrium factors that have impact on the unemployment rates in the regions of the Czech Republic. Panel data from the 1993 to 20012 period were used in the analysis. One of the main factors of the differences in the unemployment rate between the regions is the proportion of people aged from 15 to 29 years in the population. The increase of one percentage point in this ratio causes an increase in the unemployment rate in the respective region of 2.5 %. Another important factor that was revealed in the analysis was the proportion of high school graduates among the population. With the increase of one percentage point in this factor, the unemployment rate falls by 7.3 %. The regions were divided into two groups based on their unemployment rate for the purpose of an extended model. The results suggest that the unemployment rate in the regions with higher unemployment rates is more influenced by the sectoral composition of the economy than in those with lower unemployment rates. In these regions it is the regional amenities that play the key role.

Kučerová, Julie ; Šiklová, Jiřina (advisor) ; Moravcová, Dagmar (referee)
According to the approximate estimation of the German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees the number of residing immigrants has reached almost 7 million with a considerable fraction of people with a residence history being longer than 20 years. Despite the ongoing debates on the immigrant integration and integration policy since the seventies, the official German integration policy has been established no sooner than in 2005 within the context of the Immigration Act (das Zuwanderungsgesetz). Firstly, the proposed bachelor thesis deals with the development of the immigration, covering the period from the post-war era till today. The focus is in particular targeted to the immigration into western parts of Germany due to the more complex and wider structure of immigration compared to the eastern areas. That is also why the first attempts at an official integration policy originated from Western Germany. Secondly, the thesis handles the integration development after the year 2005 and simultaneously follows this development also from the immigrants' perspective. The immigrants' position on the employment market as well as the scholarship status are being subjected to analysis.
