The impact of physical activity on the quality of life of persons serving a term of imprisonment

Title: The impact of physical activity on the quality of life of persons serving a term of imprisonment Aims: The main aim of this thesis is to detect, if the health-oriented fitness and the level of quality of life of persons serving a term of imprisonment increases after ten weeks of a regular exercise. Another aim is to find out, if the results of the observed aspects of persons who did take part in the exercise programme will be much different from those who did not. Methods: This is an empiric-theoretical research thesis. Four ensembles took part in this quantitative research. The ensembles I. (N=5) and II. (N=7) filled out a self- designed questionnaire about quality of life and were tested for health-oriented fitness with the Fitnessgram test battery. The partial motor tests evaluate endurance, muscle strength and flexibility. This measurement was hold before and after a ten weeks long organized exercise program. The ensembles III. (N=15) and IV. (N=15) only filled out the questionnaire of quality of life twice, in the same period as the ensembles I. and II. Results: The results showed a positive impact of regular physical activity on the physical condition of the participants, because most of them improved their health- oriented fitness. 68 Constitutional Aspects of Imprisonment Focusing on the Protection of Family Life Abstract This thesis aim is to analyze some constitutional aspects of imprisonment relating to the fundamental rights and freedoms of convicts. The thesis is divided into two parts - the general part and the special part, which is aimed specifically at protecting family life. The general part theoretically deals with the definition of the meaning and purpose of imprisonment and its execution, the status of convicts as holders of fundamental rights and freedoms, constitutional limits of restrictions on their fundamental rights and freedoms, and the means of their judicial and other legal protection. Except for the third chapter dealing with the role of protection of family life when imposing a prison sentence, the special part focuses on the protection of family life during the period of imprisonment. It discusses the issue of placement and relocation of convicted parents, interventions in parental responsibility associated with the imposition of imprisonment, and analyzes specific institutes for protection of family life (such as visits, written and telephone communication, postponement or suspension of sentence, stay of the child with the mother in prison). Needs of clients of outpatient post-release addiction treatment services from the perspective of providers

Background: With the development of addiction treatment services in prisons, the issue of post-penitentiary care also arises, which seeks the social reintegration of an individual leaving prison. In many cases, it is difficult for these clients to be successful in everyday life. Society is not able to respond effectively to the complex needs of these people; clients often fail due to unmet needs, they return to substance abuse and crime. In this context, it is necessary to pay more attention to the needs of clients after leaving prison. Aims: The aim of the work was to describe the needs of clients who use post-release addiction treatment services, from the perspective of providers of these services. The work tries to draw attention to the issue of reintegration of persons returning from prison in the context of addiction treatment. The following research questions were defined: What are the needs of clients after leaving prison? To what extent do the provided services meet the needs of clients? What factors limit the possibilities of meeting the needs of clients after leaving prison? This diploma thesis deals with special pedagogue role in system of treating with prisoners at the department custody and department of imprisonment. It also describes all the activities and programs, which are prepared by special pedagogue for accused and convinced. There is described the work of special pedagogue in Remand Prison Praha-Pankrác. The research was based on observations, case reports and interviews.
The Existing Practice of Prison Chaplaincy Service

The existing practice of prison chaplaincy service. Master's thesis called The Existing Practice of Prison Chaplaincy Service is about purpose and object of prison chaplaincy service from the view of prison chaplains. The theoretical part presents volunteer pastoral care in prison and employee pastoral care in prison including history and object of these both parts. Master's thesis looks into personal character of chaplain, summarizes scope of his employment and different duties in custodial sentence and in sentence of imprisonment. The practical part come out from qualitative elaboration interviews with four chaplains (two were men and two were women) and also with one former user of prison chaplaincy service. The original intention of this master's thesis (purpose and object of prison chaplaincy service from the view of chaplain) has been extended by two new objects (describe personal way of faith and surroundings of prison) pursuant to interview with former user. Results brings different perception of purpose and objects of prison chaplaincy service - hope, change, self-improvement, correction of personal character and self-understanding. Penitentiary and Post-Penitentiary care in the Czech Republic

Aim of my diploma thesis is to describe the system of penitentiary and post-penitentiary care in the Czech republic and determine whether and how it works link these two components in practice. This thesis consists of two parts - a theoretical one and a practical one. In the theoretical part I explain the expressions and the subjects that provide this care in our republic. I also try to clarify the purpose and the sense of this care and the relations between penitentiary and post-penitentiary care. I deal with the conception of work with defendant and convicted people, as well, and with the possibilities of work with clients in jail. I cpecify problems of this work in details. Last but not lest i mention upbriding, education and employment of people in the course of custody and imprisonment. The practical part of my diploma thesis is based on my praktice in the jailhouse Praha - Ruzyně that I manager in the course my studies. I start with guilty and convict clients there, then I mention the structure of the working team of specialist. The possibilities of the clients regarding the treatment is procedure, education and employment in this jailhouse make an important part of this diploma work. So far there was no data in the Czech Republic that would be presented the distribution and dynamics of the disease in the prison population. Methodology: A study that uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was conducted in four Czech facilities for imprisonment selected to represent the possible range (34 totals) such prisons in the Czech Republic. In the sero-prevalence part of the study tests for the presence of antibodies against HIV and HCV were conducted at 967 prisons (700 M and 267 F). During the tests were collected basic anamnesis data and qualitative in-depth interviews in a randomly selected sample of 380 prisoners (235 M and 145 F).
