The effect of addictive substance abuse during pregnancy on newborn

The theoretical part of the thesis deals with addictions in pregnancy and its consequences on the newborn. Addiction is the ever-emerging problem. The usage of substances is no exception in a population of pregnant women. The most commonly used substances are both socially tolerated alcohol and nicotine. Despite lower numbers there also addiction to heroin, marijuana and meth. Usage affects not only the woman but also her unborn child. Newborn babies are born with low birth weight, withdrawal syndromes, congenital developmental defects and are also at risk of death. Everything is depending on the substance and the amount used by a pregnant woman. These women and their children require a special and comprehensive care. In the practical part we deal with the degree of the mother's awareness of the consequences of substance abuse. Research was conducted using a questionnaire which women fill voluntarily and anonymously. Correctly filled 100% of the returned questionnaires (103). As we expected in our hypotheses, the most commonly used addictive substance between the respondents was nicotine, which have taken a maximum of 5 cigarettes per day. Gynecological care and reproductive health in female drug users

Backrounds: Usage of addictive substances is a factor which affects the reproductive health of the female users, it affects their risky sexual behavior and fetus healthy development during pregnancy of drug using mothers. Pregnancy also represents a moment in their lifes which affects certain bio-psycho-social aspects forming the beginning of usage of substance abuse. Objectives: The aim of the research was to map a degree and paterns among problem female drug users and changes throughout pregnancy, map the risks of their sexual behavior and quality of their reproductive health, try to find out the availability of gynacology care for female drug users, the amount of care available before, through and after pregnancy. It also includes specific needs and factors affecting reproductive health. Methods and research group: A questionnaire survey of 25 problem female users based on consultations with them, all of them giving birth at least once, was carried out. Substance abuse and addictive behaviour among people with acquired physical disability: questionnaire survey.

Background: In the Czech Republic and abroad, there is very little research regarding addiction-related issues of physically disabled people, although there are many risk factors that may contribute to the development of substance use problems in this group. Substance use also often plays a role in the aetiology of the disability itself. Objective: The main aim of this paper was to map out and analyze the use of legal and illegal substances and addictive behaviour in a specific group of people with acquired physical disabilities. Methods: The research was conceptualized using a quantitative method and data was collected through an online questionnaire survey. Further, the data was processed and analysed using Microsoft Excel and TIBCO Statistica 13. The research sample consisted of 102 individuals with acquired physical disabilities whose average age was 39,8 years. Results: The results show that, according to the AUDIT questionnaire, 88,2 % of individuals in the group of people with an acquired physical disability abstain or consume alcohol at low risk. Respondents who had a positive prognosis for their disability had significantly lower AUDIT scores than respondents without a positive prognosis. The diploma thesis deals with psychosis. Portraits of people who suffered from some type of psychosis, and which in most cases is caused by long-term drug abuse or drinking of alcohol. This is depicted with figurative painting in such a way that the painting that its style and the color spectrum corrensponds to the profile of a person with this form of mental illness and mental changes in the brain at different stages of of the disease. The output will be a series of paintings of a united size of formats that will be based , thematically a basis of dialogues with people who currently suffer or have suffered from some psychosis. The authenticity of the experiences of these people with toxic psychosis is very sensitive material, therefor it is proccessed, in this series, in such a way that can it bring closer to the viewers to posibally unimaginable situations and ways of perception of reality.

The thesis deals with the theme of primary prevention of the use of addictive substances, and of specifically primary prevention of the use of addictive substances focused on minority groups of inhabitants. In the theoretical part of the thesis, there are assembled both foreign and Czech studies relating to the theme of primary prevention of the use of addictive substances. On the basis of these studies there are introduced and described basic thematic groups that can be referred to while dealing with primary prevention of the use of addictive substances. Furthermore, the theoretical part of the thesis discusses concepts relating to minority groups of inhabitants, explains basic conceptions connected with the theme, pays attention to minority groups of inhabitants living in the Czech Republic, and characterizes research focused on drug use and prevention of drug use among diverse minority groups of inhabitants in various parts of the world. The practical part of the thesis illuminates concepts used by experts on primary prevention of the use of addictive substances to explain the essence of primary prevention. Attachment and Its Influence on Adolescents' risk behaviour

This thesis aims to explore a topic of attachment and its influence on adolescents' risk behaviour. First, the theoretical part provides an overview of important milestones of the developmental period of middle adolescence. Afterwards, it introduces the concept of attachment and finally, it deals with risk behaviour with great emphasis on researches addressing the substance abuse, antisocial behaviour and sexual risk behaviour in the Czech Republic. The practical part focuses on correlation between attachment styles (secure, preoccupied, dismissive avoidant and fearful avoidant) and risk behaviour using a questionnaire survey. In addition, it deals with the prevalence of above-mentioned types of risk behaviour and their relationship. Survey dealing with the prevalence of risk behaviour showed that respondents of this research were more likely to engage in risk behaviour in comparison to participants of other studies. It was also confirmed that there was a close association between different types of risk behaviour, so it could be beneficial to perceive them as a unitary syndrome. Women using addictive substances during pregnancy: the effects of substance abuse on the prenatal and postnatal development of child Blanka Nechanská Abstract Background: Substance abuse among pregnant women represents a public health issue internationally, associated with high costs to the society and at the personal level for the women and children involved. Aims: The aim of the study was to determine the basic socioeconomic characteristics of women with substance use disorder during pregnancy and selected characteristics neonatal outcomes their children. Another goal was to study the morbidity in children prenatally exposed to addictive substances by studying hospitalizations up to three years of age. Material and methods: Series of analysis within database-linkage study combining data on pregnancy and neonatal outcomes with data from in-patient treatment in CR in 2000-2014 was performed. Background: In this work, I deal with adequacy of services and needs of clients within the No Biohazard program. The purpose of the evaluation is important particularly for directors and program managers. It is the directors and managers who are often asked to justify the need for their programs. Client satisfaction is believed to be a concept that is well understood by clients, the public, public authorities and other institutions that provide funding to these organizations (WHO, UNDCP & EMCDDA, 2000). Aims: The main goal was to find out the satisfaction of clients with the offered interventions offered by the No Biohazard program to clients, optionally how particular aspects of interventions could be improved. Research questions identify sources of dissatisfaction with the interventions offered. Partial goals also include finding out the level of client satisfaction with the local and time availability of No Biohazard, creating a proposal to increase the level of No Biohazard and finally designing an inventory of Harm Reduction material that could be offered to outreach program clients.
