The campaign of political parties for regional elections in 2016

This thesis is dedicated to political campaigns in Central Bohemian Region and Liberec Region during regional elections what took place 7th and 8th of October 2016. Both of these regions were chosen as a sample which represents both nationwide parties but also local parties. The author processed vast amount of data, what was lately analyzed and compared. For the research was used content analysis, which enables to code clearly the entering data. Among the examined data were the election formations' election programs, candidate lists (respectively, the amount of local candidates within those candidate lists), election formations' propagation on the social medium Facebook, and a usage of a printed media during the campaign (respectively, how successful was the campaign communication and how different election formations used advertising). This diploma thesis is primarily based on second-order elections. Based on relevant literature were identified several contact points within the campaigns characteristic for this kind of elections. Thanks to a number of research questions, this diploma thesis answers the main aim, which is, if those election formations approached those elections as the second-order elections.
Analyzing the Election Campaign in the Hlučín Region

This thesis deals with the question of whether and how specific value patterns and historical influences are taken into account in political communication and in the election campaign in the historical Hlučín region. It identifies the basic features of the Hlučín population, their manifestations in the present and also the historical development that preceded them. The values that make the Hlučín region a specific region are, among others, diligence, conservatism, the strong position of the church, ties to Germany and Poland, the character of the border region, a unique dialect and a sense of order. The research itself consists of a questionnaire survey in electronic form among members of political parties active in the historic region, as well as an analysis of election materials available in the press (printed and online through the Monitora interface), on the Internet and social networks, or provided by the parties themselves. The principle of adapting the political campaign utilizes the model of political marketing, especially the model of Lees-Marshment. Use of Facebook for European Union communication: The Czech MEPs Example

Khanh Ly Tranová Abstract The bachelor thesis The use of Facebook to promote the EU on the example of Czech Members of European Parliament deals with analysis of Facebook public profiles of selected Czech politicians who represent Czech interests in the European Parliament. Given the greater role of social networks in general and the important role of Facebook in political communication, this work focuses on understanding how Czech members of European Parliament use new media to explaine the role of the European Union. This research is focused on the time period during the Czech Parliamentary Elections in 2017. During the political campaigns more attention is paid to some political themes, including issues of the functioning of the European Union and the importance of membership in these structures. This present paper argues that the Czech members of European Parliamen can use the increased attention in order to present the European Union and to raise awareness on this issue. From the position of experts on questions about the European Union, they can also take advantage for self-presentation during political campaigns. Sociální sítě velmi usnadňují živou komunikaci nejen pro obyčejné lidi, ale také pro zástupce legislativní moci. Americká prezidentská volba v roce 2016 zdůraznila důležitost komunikace sociálních médií v demokratických volbách po celém světě. Media literacy as a mean of development of high school student's critical evaluation of political advertisment

This thesis is focused on the impact of media literacy in terms of the ability of high school students to interpret political advertisement. In the part of this thesis the reader will be introduced into the concepts of modern democracy and mass media as its important part especially, within the context of politics, in the pre-election period. The reader will be provided an insight into the issue of the influence of mass media on citizens who are exposed to the products of political marketing. Due to the focus on high school students, this thesis mentions research domestic one as well as international that puts together terms as politics- media-teenagers. The second part of this thesis is designed as a research aimed at the impact of media literacy on the students' skills to analyze a political advertisement as well as their civic attitudes. The research is conducted as a qualitative comparison of statements of the analytical abilities of students who took part in media literacy course with those who did not. Women as presidential candidates: Radičová, Tymoshenko and Grybauskaité

The diploma thesis focuses on women in politics, specifically on the cases when a woman is running for a president. For a purpose of the thesis 3 candidates were chosen, Radičová, Tymoshenko and Grybauskaite, i. e. one successful and two unsuccessfull ones. These case were chosen intentionally among countries of postcommunism space, where we can expect role of gender stereotypes, especially when running for the position of head of state. This thesis's object is to compare all the women candidates and explore possible causes of their success/ unsuccess based on the conditions and stereotypes dominating in a country. Thesis focuses on election campaign, party affiliation or support of each candidate and their effect on voters.
News Coverage of the Presidential Elections in 2013

The thesis "Analysis of the Czech Periodicals' News Coverage of the 2013 Presidential Elections in the Czech Republic" examines how the daily newspapers Mladá fronta DNES, Lidové noviny and Hospodářské noviny framed the election campaign. It also focuses on the degree of compliance with the criteria of impartiality in media contents. Texts with the endorsements are also a part of the analysis. The teoretical part draws the typical features of the relationship between the media and politics and the main theoretical and methodological basis for research of the frames and objectivity. It also introduces the concept of media framing as "fragmented paradigm" and objectivity as an unattainable ideal. Foreign researches and a study of Český rozhlas are an integral part of the theoretical section. Their conclusions were used in the analysis itself. The aim of the research carried out by means of a combined quantitative and qualitative content analysis was to determine how Czech daily newspapers responded in their content to direct presidential elections associated with the phenomenon of endorsement. Quantitative analysis focuses on the dominant frames and key issues associated with elections occurring in media contents.
