Germany as a country of immigration? The integration policy at the time of the Great Coalition 2005-2009
Schöpsová, Andrea ; Dimitrov, Michal (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
The grand coalition that ruled in the Federal Republic of Germany between the years 20052009 brought particularly the changes in management and formation of the integration into the framework of the migration policy. In this context the presented bachelor's thesis deals with the main integration policies concepts that this government initiated in the form of the Integration Summit (Integrationsgipfel), the German Islam Conference (Deutsche Islam Konferenz) and the amendment to the Immigration Law (Zuwanderungsgesetz). This is an analysis of the three projects mentioned above that is based on the characteristics of the attitude of the individual coalition parties CDU/CSU and SPD to the integration itself. The main goal of this thesis is to answer the question whether the declared consensus from the beginning of the 21st century  that Germany has become an immigration country  was consolidated in that period. However the author of the thesis concludes on the basis of the analysis of primary and secondary sources that Germany has become  in the true sense of the word  rather an integration country as a result of the targeted and consequent integration policy of the grand coalition.

Acculturation Strategies in Musical Self-presentations of Immigrants in the Czech Republic
Skořepová, Zita ; Jurková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Stavělová, Daniela (referee)
This thesis is based on my research dealing with musicians - members of different immigrant minority communities, who explicitly identify themselves with their ethnicity and the region of their origin. The musicians mention that they come, e.g., from Cuba, Ukraine or generally from "Central Asia" and the music offered to the audience is presented as "Cuban", "Ukrainian folk" or "traditional music of Central Asia". The subject of study are their concerts, regarded as musical occasions - performances - with defined modes of participants' interaction. In the Goffmanian sense, the meaning of each selfpresentation is determined by the behavior of the musicians during the performances, and the repertoire, place and occasion of the event and type of audience are considered as "bearers of sings". In their self-presentations, the musicians expose in various ways who they are, where they come from and in various ways present the musical (not only) culture of their origin. Inspiring myself by typology of acculturation strategies formulated by John W. Berry (Berry et al., 1997), I try to identify acculturation strategies based on factors determining the character of the respective musical self-presentations of the immigrants. When can we observe behavior according to the principles of integration on the one...
Sentiment and Manifestation of Greekness in the Czech republic
Spanosová, Bubulina ; Ezzeddine, Petra (advisor) ; Zandlová, Markéta (referee)
In the late 1940s and 1950s Czechoslovakia accepted nearly 14000 political refugees from Greece. In this paper we examine the Greekness of those who chose to stay in the Czech Republic. We analyse their current sense of ethnic allegiance and how it is manifested, after more than 60 years of co-existence with Czechs. Our analysis is based on cultural elements (language, folklore, music, food, religion), which appear to be important factors of ethnic identification for Greeks in the Czech Republic and Greeks in general. We juxtapose the Greek and the Czech-Greek perception of them. We attempt to illuminate the singularity of the Czech-Greeks and uncover the conditions that led to it. Thus we simultaneously acknowledge the varied Greekness of the Czech-Greeks as legitimate.

Socio-economic Analysis of the Informal Economy in San Diego County
Kubánková, Marie Alice ; Szobi, Pavel (advisor) ; Hornát, Jan (referee)
In the academic field the informal economy is vaguely represented and most of the research is focused on developing countries with many socio-economic issues. The informal economy in the developed world, mainly the European Union and the United States of America, has a minor share in the world's informal economy, as such it is not commonly discussed among academics. Some countries around the world are actively trying to battle this sector to minimalize it and thus minimalize its impact on the state economy and on the individual communities. To implement more effective policies it is important to know which factors are most conducive to the prevalence of the informal economy. Finding those factors became the aim of this paper. Owing to the fact that there is a lack of research conducted in the developed countries about the informal economy the main focus of the thesis is the geographical area of San Diego County, predominantly for its diverse demographics. The factors are identified and analyzed in detail in chapter 4. In "Discussion" the factors are evaluated to reveal the most conducive ones. It has been determined that the most conducive factors are "burdensome regulation" and "individual preferences". Additionally factors that influence the informal economy in San Diego County are "low...
