Aims: The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyze barrier-free accesses to selected buildings of the local departments of the Police of the Czech Republic on the territory of the capital city of Prague. Methods: The main method of the research was the analysis of the selected buildings, where an anonymous personal interview consisting of 7 questions was performed on total of 54 police officers, 30 men and 24 women serving at the Local Police Department of the Czech Republic, at the age of 30 years old and more, and with at least 5 years of experience. Results: Barrier-free accessibility of buildings is not dependent on the occupancy of local departments, nor their location. Most of the inappropriately modified barrier-free buildings are only partially accessible, therefore help is necessary and there is no option to use the toilet cabins. Part of the investigated buildings underwent reconstruction, where only a barrier-free entry was established in the form of a sloping platform or ramps through elevated curbs or pavements. In addition, research has shown that serving policemen focused on helping disabled people, get to know each other due to charitable events organized by various organizations in their free time. There is no training nor courses on this issue currently, furthermore the initiative...

In my bachelor work I focus on the burnout syndrome among medics who work with disabled people. The aim of my work is to find out the amount of medics affected by this syndrome. I concentrate on this amount and try to answer whether the burnout syndrome affected more medics or people who work in the social care. My work is divided into two parts theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part I give basic introduction to the problematic of the burnout syndrome, its causes, history and stages, last but not least I write about prevention. In short, I define the difference between social workers medics, and workers in the social care. The definition of disabled people is also involved in the theoretical part. The practical part is found on the half-constructed interviews with workers in social field both medics and social workers. The Burnout Measure is used to get statistics. To know the amount of affected people with burnout syndrome is important for their future work and life. My work is useful for these social workers and even it gives them the awareness of this syndrome, and thanks to this the prevention of it is much easier.

Molíková, Barbora ; Fonferová, Ľudmila (advisor) ; Buřilová, Marcela (referee)
This study focuses on disabled users of public libraries. First, general attitude towards physically handicapped people is analyzed on the basis of literature review. Furthermore, past surveys were utilized in order to describe attitudes demonstrated by library staff in particular as well as approach taken by the libraries in order to ease access for disabled users to library services. Analysis is complemented by overview of current projects aimed to improve accessibility of libraries including communication facilities and tools overcoming construction barriers. General principles of barrier-free access to libraries are derived from this overview. The field survey in the second part of this study evaluates accessibility of selected libraries from the point of view of disables users. The sample focused particularly on libraries which have not been reviewed yet. Particular conditions in each library classify the respective institution to the corresponding category of accessibility. Derived knowledge was published on website of Pražská organizace vozíčkářů, o.s. (Prague wheelchair association, NGO).
Powerful push of patients: display physically disabled heroes in TV series game of thrones and its audience through the lens of disability studies
Kondratová, Irina ; Baslarová, Iva (advisor) ; Reifová, Irena (referee)
This thesis discusses the ways of how physically handicapped fans of Game of Thrones, a television series, identify with characters like or dislike and answers the questions how physically handicapped fans choose who they favour and who they don't, how they identify with them and how is their interpretation linked to their own experience of being handicapped and how their social reality influences how they perceive the media reality. The research reveals orthodoxies of power of the dominating ideology of being fit, against which "the ill" and "powerless", define themselves, albeit subconsciously; it describes the difficulties, connected with their handicap, which they project into the series, behaviour strategies resulting from this phenomenon and how the world around interferes; and, last but not least, it confirms sociological premises of deepening empathy on the basis of different dimensions of one's own identities and experience. The qualitative research of audience is based on semi- structured interviews and deploys the interpretative approach, while the results are coded using the method of anchored theory.
