Finnish perfect tense and its Czech translations in parallel corpora
Sovová, Markéta ; Fárová, Lenka (advisor) ; Čermáková, Anna (referee)
(anglicky) The BA thesis deals with the means of translation of Finnish perfect tense into Czech. There are three past tenses in Finnish, while there is only one in Czech language, and therefore Czech does not have a direct counterpart of the perfect tense. The theoretical part describes the tense systems of both languages and summarizes the meanings and usage of the Finnish perfect tense. As for the Czech language, the emphasis is on the verbal aspect, which broadens the possibilities of the Czech tense system. The five hundred examples of Finnish perfect tense and their Czech translations were excerpted from the parallel corpus InterCorp. The examples were sorted out based on the Czech translation regarding verbal tense and aspect, and afterwards the sentences were analysed with respect to the types of the perfect tense and adverbials used.

Vymazalová, Tereza ; Hrnčířová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Pekelder, Jan (referee)
The thesis deals with aspectuality in Czech and Dutch. The theoretical part covers the most important widely recognized and widespread theoretical approaches to the issue. It also compares to which stream Czech and Dutch linguists tend to and how the phenomenon is discussed in grammar. The main points of the work are aspect and Aktionsart. Both of them have similar semantic features, which are the main criteria for comparison of these two typologically different languages. Both in Czech and Dutch, the perception of aspect and manner of its expression varies. The aim of this work is to bring the Czech user of Dutch options for how Czech aspectual meanings may be expressed in Dutch. The practical part contains, besides an overview of the language means, also the practical analysis of two fictional texts, which supports answering two questions. First, whether the Dutch translation preserves the concept of Czech aspectual opposites and if so, in what ways. Second, whether the Czech interpreter has tendency to enrich Dutch text with aspects or not. key words: aspect, Aktionsart, Dutch, imperfectivity, perfectivity
On the use of the progressive in the modern German language
Boček, Lukáš ; Šemelík, Martin (advisor) ; Hejhalová, Věra (referee)
This bachelor thesis is concerned with the use of progressive form in the contemporary German language. The first part gives a definition of the progressive form and compares its description in the existing (and mostly newest) grammar books. It also deals with other related topics such as the category of aspect. In spite of the fact that the progressive form appears in both contemporary spoken and written German, it has been widely discussed whether it belongs to the standard language or not. The second part is based on a corpus analysis (DeReKo and DWDS) and investigates the use of progressive form by means of several examples. In addition, the thesis aims at resolving the status of the progressive form in the German language. It inclines to the view that the progressive form belongs to the standard contemporary German which should be reflected by the standard-setting instances accordingly.
