TITLE: Development of communication for the children with autistic spectrum disorders AUTHOR: Mgr. Zuzana Králová DEPARTMENT: Special Education SUPERVISOR: doc. PaedDr. Jiřina Klenková, Ph.D. Abstract The present thesis deals with the issue of development of communication for the children with autistic spectrum disorders. The paper and the research project particularly aim to analyse a development of communication for the children with autistic spectrum disorders from the view of clinical speech-language pathology. To carry out the research, five hypotheses were suggested. The hypotheses relate to clients with an ASD, to what extent specialists are informed about the issue, number of children with definite diagnostic category, interdisciplinary co-operation and use of alternative and augmentative communication. The research itself is realised in two ways - the quantitative one (questionnaires distributed to clinical speech-language pathologists) and the qualitative one which focuses on the evaluation of speech-language intervention for clients with ASD in the consulting room of clinical speech-language pathologists. The following techniques were included in the research: analysis of documents and results of activities, talks to parents and class teachers and monitoring. The primary goal of the thesis is to...

The bachelor thesis is in the field of special pedagogy and deals with the benefits of individually created educational materials for students with ASD. The theoretical part defines the issues of autism spectrum disorders, diagnosis and etiology. One of the sections of the first chapter describes associated disorders such as epilepsy, sleep disorders, gastrointestinal disorders and food intake. The practical part is focused on expanding the vocabulary by the method of global reading using structured and visualized educational materials, which we create for students to suit their needs. Motivation is also an important factor, which is why we use motifs from the areas of children's interests in the materials. The aim is to understand students' new concepts and improve their communication skills, which makes it easier for them to understand social situations and this in turn leads to the elimination of challenging behavior and increase the quality...

Communication Technique for People with Severe Multiple Disabilities
MAŠTALÍŘOVÁ, Renata
The main aim of this bachelor thesis was to find communication techniques which could be used for communication on a selected person with deafblindness with fine and gross motor disorder and propose a way of communication with this person. The bachelor thesis is divided into the theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part we deal with the theoretical starting points for the given topic. First, we focus on the development of deafblindness and on the definition of this concept including the division of deafblindness. In the next chapter we deal with communication in general and also closer on people with disabilities. This is followed by the chapter of alternative and augmentative communication, where these terms are explained. There is also a list of examples of alternative and augmentative communication, which is subsequently narrowed to the techniques of communication of people with total deafblindness with associated affection of fine and gross motor skills. The individual techniques are explained and supplemented by visual display. In the last charter of the theoretical part we deal with the issue of associated disability to deafblindness, there is a list of syndromes and diseases causing deafblindness. To achieve the aim, we used a qualitative approach in the empirical part. In the form of a case study, we concentreted on a specific selected person with total deafblindness with associated affection of fine and gross motor skills with preserved verbal communication ability. The aim was to find out which of the selected techniques of alternative and augmentative communication can be used to communicate with a selected person with disabilities. The surprising result was that none of the available communication techniques were sufficient to communicate with the selected person. It was a reason to create a new individual communication technique created directly for the needs of a person with total deafblindness with associated disability of fine and gross motor skills and preserved verbal communication.
