The view of girls and boys on the issue of abortion

The present Bachelor's thesis focuses on analysing the views of secondary school students on the issue of abortion. The Bachelor's thesis consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part discusses the pregnancy, its occurrence, and how to deal with an unwanted pregnancy. Furthermore, it addresses the characteristics of abortion, reasons for abortion, its history, methods applied, and possible complications. Among other things, it explains the importance of preventing unwanted pregnancy and the midwives' assistance with this issue. The practical part of the Bachelor's thesis focused on two objectives. The first one was to determine the level of knowledge and opinions of girls and boys on the issue of abortion. The second objective was to investigate the knowledge and opinions of girls and boys on abortion prevention. Initially, four hypotheses were set in the thesis. The first hypothesis sought to establish whether students aged 18-19 know more about abortion than those aged 15-17. This hypothesis was rejected. The second hypothesis was to determine if secondary medical school students have more profound knowledge about the possible complications of abortion than other secondary school students. The second hypothesis was also rejected. The third hypothesis investigated whether abortion was perceived as a harmless method more by boys than girls. This hypothesis was also rejected. The last hypothesis examined whether or not girls are more likely than boys to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancy. This hypothesis was also rejected. Data for the quantitative research survey was collected using a non-standardised questionnaire. The data was processed the graphical and tabular evaluation was performed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The cohort comprised 196 respondents; 135 women and 61 men completed the questionnaire. The respondents included secondary school students aged 15-19 years. Consecutively, the questionnaire was electronically processed in Microsoft Forms and shared on Facebook. The most numerous group of respondents were students at the age of 19 years.
Knowledge of 8th and 9th grade elementary school students about reproductive health

The Bachelor thesis entitled Knowledge of pupils in 8th and 9th grades in primary schools about reproductive health focuses on the level of awareness of pupils aged 13 -16 about the issues of menstruation, safe sex, contraception, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. The theoretical part of the bachelor's thesis describes health and its division into reproductive and sexual. It also describes the reproductive organs of women and men, menstrual periods and menstrual devices, sexual intercourse, and the possibilities offemale and male contraception, as adolescents need to know how to protect themselves from unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. There are therefore individual chapters devoted precisely to sexually accurate diseases, pregnancy and abortion. The final chapter deals with the education of pupils on reproductive health issues and the role of midwives in the educational process. In the research part of the bachelor s thesis, a quantitative method was chosen as the method of research investigation. The data was collected through a questionnaire distributed to respondents on the social networking site Facebook. The questionnaire consisted of 36 questions, of which 23 were closed, 12 were semi-closed and 1 was open. The data obtained was processed and evaluated using Microsoft Excel and SPSS computer programs. Graphs showing the responses of boys and girls in the 8th and 9th grades of primary schools have been produced for each question. The research pool consisted of 101 respondents. Of the 8th grade, a total of 36 respondents were 7 boys and 29 girls. Of the 9th grade, a total of 65 respondents were 13 boys and 52 girls. The aim of this work was to find out what boys and girls of the 8th and 9th grades had knowledge about reproductive health, i.e. menstruation, safe sex, contraception, pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. 3 hypotheses have been established for the research part. The first hypothesis was to determine whether girls in 8th grade had greater knowledge of reproductive health than boys in the same year. This hypothesis has been disproved. The second hypothesiswas to determine whether girls in the 9th grade had greater knowledge of reproductive health than boys in the same year. The second hypothesis was disproved. The third hypothesis looked at whether 9th graders had greater knowledge of reproductive health than 8th graders. This hypothesis has been confirmed.
Pregnant in Lima: female body, social stratification and urban space

How is the experience of pregnancy in a patriarchal society shaped by pregnant women's socioeconomic status? So far, qualitative studies have primarily focused on the effect of socioeconomic status in healthcare, and unintended conception in poor adolescents. Based on a 17-month comparative ethnography conducted in Lima, the hyper-stratified capital of Peru, this dissertation addresses experiences of women of different socioeconomic dispositions including conception, abortion, and (inter)personal lived pregnancy experience. The dissertation employs the concept of reproductive habitus to reflect on the differing classed and gendered dispositions in women of different socioeconomic statuses as an embodiment of institutions: the institution of patriarchy and healthcare institutions. The dissertation identifies status-related reproductive dispositions/differences in forming pregnancy experience in four areas: (i) in women's conception circumstances primarily in terms of pregnancy (non)intentionality, women's childbearing age span, relationship status (integrity), and male partner (non)abandonment (desertion). The end of Roe? Mississippi's decades-long restriction politics

This thesis aims to explore the circumstances in Mississippi and shed a light on the pattern of restrictive policies, some of which are in place for decades, that led to the ultimate ban on abortion. The Supreme Court agreed to review a case regarding the constitutionality of Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban from 2018 in Jackson Women's Health Organization v. Dobbs. This came as a no surprise - there is a significant conservative majority in the Court and the United States have recorded an unprecedented rise of abortion restrictions across the country. By taking up the case, the Court was expected to rule on the constitutionality of Roe v. Wade, a landmark decision from 1973 affirming the women's right to abortion. Mississippi's ban was ground-breaking at the time of passing, being the first state to push the time limit so low. After that, some states went even further, namely Texas and its heartbeat bill, banning abortion after only 6 weeks. Artifical abortion in Czechia, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland after World War II Abstract This thesis aims to provide a clear and comprehensive overview of abortion, history, legislation and factors influencing abortion in Czechia, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland. The theoretical part presents essential information and factors influencing the artificial termination of pregnancy. The most important part of the academic work focuses on the history of legislation in Czechia, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland. The analytical part presents the development of selected indicators of the artificial abortion rate after the Second World War until 2020. It has been confirmed that legislation, attitudes and societal views on abortion change over time. Thus, there are currently differences in legislation between Czech, Slovakia, Croatia and Poland. Czech has the most liberal approach, Slovakia and Croatia are relatively liberal on this issue, while Poland has the strictest laws on abortion. Polish literary reportage in the second half of the twentieth century: Hanna Krall, Ryszard Kapuscinski

The thesis addresses Polish literary reportage from the second half of the twentieth century as well as specifics of this genre related to the same period. It also observes the change of the reportage's role during the period of real socialism. Following as it gradually leafed off its position as a source of propaganda and became a tool that opened many taboo topics. The thesis is also about approximating the personalities of journalists Hanna Krallová, and Ryszard Kapuśczyński, both of whom had a significant impact on the topics concerning this thesis. It analyses two books of their reportages along with two other reportages written by them and informs current readers about specifics of the reporting in socialist Poland. The second part of the thesis is the original reportage called Právo na život tu každý chápe po svém, which was written in the period from October 2020 to February 2021 in Warsaw, Poland.
Gender-sensitive Literary Analysis of Richard Yates's novel The Revolutionary Road

In the thesis "Gender Literary Analysis of the novel Revolutionary Road by Richard Yates" a qualitative interpretative analysis with aspects of discourse analysis is used to interpret the plot and characters from a gender perspective. These interpretations are based on the "resistant reading" method introduced by Judith Fetterley. The literary analysis concepts introduced by Pam Morris and Elaine Showalter are also used as a point of reference. The aim for the application of Gender as a methodological category is to reveal and find new potential meanings and interpretations of the whole story and its characters with respect to their gender identity. The key areas that are focused on are motherhood, emancipation.
Planned parenthood of women in reproductive age

The thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts. The corresponding chapters of theoretical part are focused on the anatomy of the genital tract of women, the menstrual cycle, fertility and fertile age. Then follows discourse on family planning methods from different points of view (public health, social service, economy and low). Next chapter concentrates on modern contraceptive methods, compares each of them and analyses the advantages and disadvantages of parethood planning methods. The empirical part consists of quantitative research based on a questionnaire survey which was carried out among women of fertile age. The researched group consists of 106 respondents. The main aim of the thesis is to determine whether women in the CR planning their parenthood. The results of the research are showing that more than 77 % of women in reproductive age are planning their parenthood and relatively well can prevent unwanted pregnancies using various contraceptive methods. More than 50 % of investigated respondents prefer method of hormonal contraception. The results of the research are represented by tables and graphs.
