Control Unit for Telescope Mount
Cagaš, Martin ; Bidlo, Michal (referee) ; Vašíček, Zdeněk (advisor)
This thesis examines the basic mechanisms and their implementation in creation of a firmware for control units of telescope mounts. The goal of this thesis is to create an autonomous unit supporting all the necessary functions required for scientific astronomy and astrophotography. The unit is based on the combination of a microcontroller, performing complex computational tasks, and FPGA performing time-critical operations. The unit utilizes its own algorithm for determining the current astronomical coordinates on the celestial sphere. A part of the thesis is a definition of own protocol for communication with a connected PC. The outcome of the thesis is an embedded system offering the basic required functionality for astronomical imaging with the space for implementing additional features. The benefit of the thesis is utilization of an FPGA in a topic usually solved by microcontrollers.
Radar Signal Processor in FPGA
Přívara, Jan ; Musil, Petr (referee) ; Maršík, Lukáš (advisor)
This work describes design and implementation of radar processor in FPGA. The theoretical part is focused on Doppler radar, principles of radar signal processing methods and target platform Xilinx Zynq. The next part describes design of radar processor including its individual components and the solution is implemented. FPGA components are written in VHDL language. In the end, the implementation is evaluated and possible continuation of this work is stated.
Linux-Based Drivers for Embedded Systems
Kopáček, Jaroslav ; Strnadel, Josef (referee) ; Dobai, Roland (advisor)
Issues of design and writing device drivers is wide-ranging and therefore in this thesis we focus on the design of drivers for devices with field-programmable gate array (FPGA). Compared to the application-specific integrated circuit processors, where functionality is immutable, it is necessary for each new FPGA configuration to write a new driver for the required behavior. This thesis deals with the analysis of requirements and possible solutions of designing and implementation of device drivers for embedded systems based on OS Linux and the possibility of development automation. This thesis includes the design and implementation a driver generator which can generate Linux-based drivers for embedded systems. The driver generator is modular so the final driver can contain only the required functionality and no unnecessary functionality. Designed driver generator has been tested on the task of controlling light-emitting diodes which are used for diagnostics of the embedded system.
Manipulator Control for Acquisition of the Eye Retina
Malaník, Petr ; Dvořák, Michal (referee) ; Drahanský, Martin (advisor)
To use the image of the retina for biometric or medical purposes, it is necessary that the image is of the highest quality and ideally covers the largest possible area. It is therefore necessary to move the sensing device to the most suitable position while ensuring its stability. A laboratory handling platform is used for this purpose. The platform is moved by stepper motors. A control board equipped with a microcontroller has been developed for their control, which allows very fine movements. The theoretical accuracy of the manipulator is up to 20 nm. Since it is necessary for sensing, to have proper retina illumination, the control system also includes adjustable illumination elements in the infrared and visible spectrum. The resulting system allows scanning of the retina of the eye from multiple angles and thereby effectively increase the area on which it is possible to further look for diseases or biometric features.
Embedded Photo Trap with Storing Pictures on SD Card
Marek, Ondřej ; Strnadel, Josef (referee) ; Šimek, Václav (advisor)
This bachelor thesis analyzes approaches and methods used for creation of modern camera traps and their use cases. It also describes the design and implementation details of embedded camera trap prototype, which is an output of this thesis. It focuses mainly on ways of saving energy consumption, compressing stored data and innovative features in terms of improved lighting system and wireless communication. Finally, the conclusion of this thesis contains a discussion of the results obtained during evaluation of the prototype and compares its properties with the camera traps available on the market.
Smart Home Implementation by Means of Eclipse IoT
Heřman, Kristián ; Rozman, Jaroslav (referee) ; Janoušek, Vladimír (advisor)
The aim of this work is to design Smart Home control application by means of Eclipse IoT, its assembly and comparison with the standard control application. Reference application is realized by a combination of Node-Red and Home Assistant applications. However, the reference application will overcome the proposed solution both in practical usability and user-friendliness.
Ghost-free HDR video using FPGA
Musil, Martin ; Schmidt, Jan (referee) ; Chalmers, Alan (referee) ; Zemčík, Pavel (advisor)
Simulations of impact of security requirements on industrial system performance
Loskot, Michal ; Blažek, Petr (referee) ; Mlýnek, Petr (advisor)
Safety and security is always a hot topic in the world of information security, but only a few solve how much cryptographic algorithms affect the performance of systems. Newer longer-key algorithms may provide more security, but it takes longer to encrypt data, that is, they may contain extra bits, which increases transfer time and uses more memory to store additional information. This bachelor thesis is focused on the analysis of the impact of the security requirements of the ANSI/ISA-62443 standard on the performance of industrial systems. Communication is simulated in which cryptographic algorithms AES and SHA were used. These simulations are carried out in the open source simulation tool TTool, which enables embedded systems, hardware and software modeling, and simple simulations directly from UML and SysML diagrams.
Wireless Timer for Fire Sport Competitions
Holinka, Milan ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Bartoš, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis describes the design, development and realization of a wireless electronic timer for use in firesport. Specification of the final product is built with regard to versatility, ease of use and low acquisition costs. Commercial products have been compared as inspiration for this work. Requirements of the timer are based on the rules of firesport disciplines, where the timer can be used. It consists of a base station that can be accompanied for additional elements used to starting, splits capturing and stopping. An independent communication module has been created to ensure wireless connection. Libraries for comfort work with the module, support for USB bus and reliable protocol for wireless transmission have been implemented.
Embedded System for Orienteers Race Organization Support
Kavan, Tomáš ; Přibyl, Bronislav (referee) ; Beran, Vítězslav (advisor)
This thesis deals with the design and production of prototype terminal for supporting organization within orienteering races. The aim of this work is to integrate all important computer facilities, currently used in the practice of orienteering races or training, into a portable compact embedded system in the size of a common terminal for accepting credit cards. The secondary objective of this thesis is creation of cross-platform Open Source library for communication with SPORTIdent control units.
