Title: Kinesiotherapy in the treatment of patients with eating disorders Summary: The aim of our experiment was evaluate the effect of kineziotherapy (psychomotor therapy) on body image in the treatemnet of the patiens with eating disorders in The Department of Psychiatry on General University Hospital in Prague. The study included 10 women divided into two groups according to the psychiatrist`s diagnosis of anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa. The effectiveness of kinesiotherapy was also evaluated about the type of treatment - inpatient of the department for eating disorders and outpatient of the day care institution for eating disorders. We used a validated questionnaire Body Attitude Test (BAT) which is used for negative evaluation of body size, lack of familiarity with one`s own body and general body dissatisfaction. Then we used Test of silhouette according to Stunkard and Test for the evaluation of sensory stimuli according to Petrie. Due to the small sample size, we supplemented the quantitative part with the qualitative interview with open questions. It allowed us to understand the interaction of individuals with their own body. Keywords: anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, kinesiotherapy, psychomotor therapy, body image, Body Attitude Test, Petrie`s test, Stunkard`s test of silhouette, structured...
The way of using media by the male members interested in fitness culture
Martinková, Michaela ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Jansa, Petra (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the interaction of male members of the fitness culture with content referring to this topic on social media. The diploma thesis examines the connections between the monitored content, the desire to build masculinity, the satisfaction of men with their own body, or the idea of an ideal male body. The aim of this thesis is to answer the questions of how men interpret media content, which suppose to inspire the creation of healthy lifestyle habits, and whether, or how, this content contributes to their approach to the fitness culture. Research shows that men attribute a significant influence to social media on their concept of fitness as a lifestyle. These participants talk about the strengths and weaknesses of the content of fitspiration, which affect the perception of their own body and mental well-being. Although, social media contributions motivate them to improve themselves and achieve better results, images of masculinity on social media force them to focus on the aesthetics of the body, the amount of muscles rather than on the quality of life, health and other benefits from the regular physical activity.
Psychological aspects of tatoo
Kdolská, Helena ; Doubek, David (advisor) ; Bittnerová, Dana (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to conduct qualitative research aimed at psychological aspects of tattoos in the form of ethnographic study. The research follows a relationship between an individual and his tattoos with the main topics being a motivation for getting a tattoo, meaning of the tattoo for the owner, and the relationship between the artist and his client. Data were gathered using unstructured interviews with an emphasis on building trust between the researcher and the interviewee. The study concludes the motivation can be distinguished into internal and external. The internal motivation represents the benefits tattoos can bring to his owner while the external motivation shows the ways an individual can use the tattoo to send a message to others. As for the owner-tattoo relationship, results show variations in how can one perceive his tattoos and what tattoo could mean for the owner. Some of the respondents viewed their tattoos as just a body decoration, others used them as symbols of their own deeper thoughts and lifestyle. When exploring the artist-client relationship, it has been found out trust and mutual sympathies as well as setting up proper boundaries to keep the relationship on the professional level all seem to play an important role. Body image - struggle for a new body
VOLDŘICHOVÁ, Štěpánka
This bachelor thesis deals with the topic of body image the question of physical self-perception. In the theoretical part, I summarize the existing findings in this field, with focus on non-clinical population, and I specify the body image from the aspect of forming factors, such as gender, age, socio-cultural background, sexual orientation or important other people. Moreover, I describe it in the context of effect of society and media influence, internet and social networks. In the thesis I also deal with a negative perception of body image with its influence on individual's life and I put it into contrast with the meaning of positive perception. In the conclusion I mention the possibilities of measuring the body image by means of subjective and objective methods of evaluation. The empirical part is devoted to research, which aim is the description of possible risk influence of social networks, particularly of Facebook, on the body image of an individual, through content analysis of posts in a group called "Struggle for a new body".
Computerized Adaptive Testing In Kinanthropology: Monte Carlo Simulations Using The Physical Self Description Questionnaire
Komarc, Martin ; Štochl, Jan (advisor) ; Martinková, Patrícia (referee) ; Scheier, Lawrence (referee)
This thesis aims to introduce the use of computerized adaptive testing (CAT) - a novel and ever increasingly used method of a test administration - applied to the field of Kinanthropology. By adapting a test to an individual respondent's latent trait level, computerized adaptive testing offers numerous theoretical and methodological improvements that can significantly advance testing procedures. In the first part of the thesis, the theoretical and conceptual basis of CAT, as well as a brief overview of its historical origins and basic general principles are presented. The discussion necessarily includes the description of Item Response Theory (IRT) to some extent, since IRT is almost exclusively used as the mathematical model in today's CAT applications. Practical application of CAT is then evaluated using Monte-Carlo simulations involving adaptive administration of the Physical Self-Description Questionnaire (PSDQ) (Marsh, Richards, Johnson, Roche, & Tremayne, 1994) - an instrument widely used to assess physical self-concept in the field of sport and exercise psychology. The Monte Carlo simulation of the PSDQ adaptive administration utilized a real item pool (N = 70) calibrated with a Graded Response Model (GRM, see Samejima, 1969, 1997). The responses to test items were generated based on item...

Physical self-concept of floorball players
Wagenknecht, Štěpán ; Harbichová, Ivana (advisor) ; Mudrák, Jiří (referee)
Title: Physical self-concept of floorball players Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to gain theoretical knowledge about body image and based on the information gained in the Physical Self-Perception Profile (PSPP) questionnaire evaluate if there is any difference between body image in floorball players at different performance levels. Methods: Quantitative data that was collected by a written questionnaire were chosen as the primary data source. The basic file is floorball player competing under Czech floorbal union. The selection sample consists of 71 floorball players, 35 playing 3 highest leagues, 36 playing other leagues. Results: Individual questions from the written questionnaire were processed and the results were used for evaluating the hypothesis. Keywords: self-concept, body image, men, floorball

Motivation in sport: Relationship to global self-esteem and physical self-perception
Harbichová, Ivana ; Slepička, Pavel (advisor) ; Štochl, Jan (referee) ; Pavelková, Isabella (referee)
The main objective of this thesis is to verify the relationship of the contextually specific motivation in sport to a global self-esteem and possible mediation effects of the physical self-perceptions in this relationship. To achieve this objective six individual studies were conducted. First, we focused on the translation of diagnostic instruments: the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS; Pelletier et al., 1995) and the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS; Hart, Leary, Rejeski, 1989) into the Czech language. Next, the validity and reliability of the scores obtained by Czech versions of the instruments were examined. Based on the results of the structural equation modeling and using a known-difference evidence validity approach we concluded that both translated instruments may be useful as a valid and reliable diagnostic tools for measuring different kinds of motivation in sport (SMS) and negative physical self-perception (social physical anxiety - SPAS). Using structural equation modeling, we also concluded that different types of motivation in sport (which vary in degree of relative autonomy of the subject) affect specific self-esteem associated with the body, as well as the evaluation of one's self at the global level. Relationship of the sport motivation and the global self-esteem was largely mediated...
