Self-management as a means for advancement and maintenance of personal competence of school directors

The thesis deals with self-management of head teachers and its application in the present which is characterized by an environment of never-ending changes which place considerable demands on the overall preparedness of school management to face these demands. This theses has been completed using search of available literature and free Internet resources related to this issue. The theoretical part explains the basic concepts related to the topic. The personality and skills of managers are also described there. Based on the analysis and comparison of scientific literature I describe the techniques and procedures recommended by the authors who deal with this issue. With the help of a survey in the form of half-structured interviews with managers of education in different types of schools in a district town I try to find out what self-management techniques covering the biological, psychological and social areas are practised by head teachers in order to maintain and develop relevant skills. In conclusion, based on the acquired data I suggest a process of self-management of head teachers. Recommended methods and procedures can be used as a strategic tool for maintaining and developing their competencies necessary to carry out their profession in a quality way. Approach to evaluation of fruitfulness of the director of a school and ratings of successful school directors

The diploma Thesis stems from the finding that the human behaviour is a combined result of the push from outer environment and the human personality. The theoretical part of the study is based on the scientific literature, on documents dealing with the social standing of a school director in the society, and on the research studies dealing with the director's personality. It treats the characterisation of the personality, personal typology, properties and motivations. It brings information about the present-day concept of the success. Primarily, the attention is payed to the directors' competency a their roles in the management of the school. The research part of the diploma Thesis deals with the question of personal prerequisites and competencies, as they were found on the basis of quentionairies and data obtained from individual directors, who perform their leading role in the real environment of schools, and from the founders of these schools located on the territory of the capital of Prague. The main result of the Thesis is a summary of prerequisites needed to a successful school management from the point of view of the director's personality. Selection procedure for the position of school director from the point of view of Czech teachers and headmasters

This master's thesis deals with various views of potential school directors and headmasters of the school director selection procedure. The work is divided into the theoretical and the research part. The theoretical part analyses the legislation relevant to the selection procedure for the school director, i.e. The School Law and law No. 82/2005. In the practical part author used the questionnaire to find the ideas of potential school directors and headmasters of the selection procedure and of The School Law novelisation. The goal of this thesis is to find how differs these ideas. The conclusions of this work can be used for the improvement of the school director selection procedure in the Czech Republic. The work is based on the literature listed at the end and on the questionnaire survey, which was performed with 115 potential school directors and 13 headmasters.
