Curative and Pernicious Aspects of Food in Traditional Korea

This Bachelor thesis deals with the advancement of the medical tradition on the Korean peninsula from ancient times to the present with regard to the curative and negative aspects of nutrition. The theoretical part is followed by examples of specific plants and foods used for healing purposes. The next part is about male fertility and pregnancy where again nutrition plays an important part. Mentioned are also cures related to poisoning and various types of illnesses brought upon by wrongly prepared food. The section about fermentation and fermented produce is then followed by a final thematic circle of book references and proverbs that authentically reflect the times and the role of food within society.
The Culture of Vietnamese Gastronomy

The following thesis is examining the traditional Vietnamese gastronomy. The thesis is introducing brief characteristics of Vietnamese and common cuisine in general. The next part is describing the gastronomical culture of the Viet majority in the North Vietnam with emphasis on dining culture. Based on the literature the thesis with supplemented proverbs are describing everyday family rituals linked with food, cultural habits and their meaning. The final part is analyzing how are these family rituals is following within the Vietnamese community in Prague.
Phraseology and its Applicability in Foreign Languages Teaching and Learning

This thesis is concerned with phraseology and its intertwining with didactics of foreign languages. The practical part consists of the analysis of a contemporary situation in didactics of foreign languages, particularly the utilization of idioms. Further, the frequency of using proverbs and other set phrases in modern textbooks for teaching foreign languages (namely German and Russian) is analysed. The title of the bachelor thesis : Idioms, proverbs and comparisons in a comparative study Key words : Folk literature, idioms, proverbs, comparisons, folk sayings, rhetorics, Czech- French comparative study The bachelor thesis called Idioms, proverbs and comparisons in a comparative study is a comparative study of two languages - French and Czech. The main aim of this work is to find differences between French and Czech sayings. The thesis is divided into several thematically separated parts. A term folk literature will be introduced in the beginning and particular terms will be chosen for further examination. The thesis will deal with idioms, proverbs, folk sayings and comparisons, and their history, meaning and use in French and Czech language will be the object of this work. Another part of the thesis will be focused on categories close to idioms, such as maxims, sentences and rhetorics. In the end the author will try to find new forms of idioms. The goal of the thesis is a linguistic comparative study, in which particular French and Czech idioms will be found and compared.

Experimental paremiology - Italian and French Proverbs in Context

In every language folk wisdom is found in proverbs. The thesis focuses on French and Italian proverbs, which is a very interesting subject to research. Firstly, I will give a definition of proverbs in both French and Italian grammar. I will also discuss general characteristics and typology of proverbs. Then I will explain the role of proverbs in the text, the morphological, syntactical, and lexical differences between French and Italian proverbs, as well as the possible difficulties of their interpretation. Using a survey, I will show the general ability of interpretation of proverbs and some differences in the perception of French and Italian respondents. The goal of this bachelors' thesis is to provide complex information on the study of proverbs and chart the differences of French and Italian proverbs.
Idioms Including Names of Sense Organs in Russian, Czech and German in Comparison

This bachelor thesis focuses on Czech, Russian and German idioms. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with phraseology, the linguistic discipline itself. In the first chapter, the thesis concentrates on the relation between language and culture. Afterwards, the thesis provides a short historical overview of the development of phraseology and solves the place of this discipline among both other linguistic and nonlinguistic disciplines. Further the thesis deals with the subject of the research in phraseology, i.e. the idiom. It summarizes its characteristics, divisions and functions and outlines the issues of equivalence of idioms. In the practical part of the thesis, the idioms including their semantics and synonymous expressions are organised into tables. These idioms containing the names of sense organs, are then compared on their syntactic and lexical levels.

The thesis "Proverbs a Series of Tapestries by Jacob Jordaens from the Castle Hluboká nad Vltavou" deals with a series of tapestries created from an artwork by the Flemish painter and designer of tapestries Jacob Jordaens. The aim of the thesis is to include historical context, and importace in schwarzenberg's collection which are part of and primary to write up pieces in detail with an emphasis on original artwork and update outdated literature, represented by studies from Jarmila Blažková. Comparative Analysis of Czech, English and German Proverbs in Jirotka's Saturnin

This thesis analyses and compares the typical features and tendencies of Czech, English and German proverbs with specific reference to the book Saturnin by Zdeněk Jirotka. The theoretical part summarizes the complexity of proverb-definition. It also deals with the different ways of translating proverbs and, last but not least, the concrete specifics of proverbs in the particular languages are introduced. Within the practical part, the proverbs contained in the original version of the book Saturnin - and its English and German translations are analysed from different viewpoints (e.g. existence and non-existence of proverbs, motivation, semantic differences, poetic and grammatical features etc.). The aim of this thesis is to assess to what degree the proverbs of the individual languages studied differ and, conversely, what common tendencies their proverbs display.
