Visual representation of Africa in Magazine Tyden and Rexlex

The diploma thesis "Visual representation of Africa in magazine Týden and Reflex " deals with visual representation of African continent. Africa does not appear in Czech printed media very often although the readers are interested in this topic. We live in the time that is intensively influenced by visual perception on human being. Photography is the medium capable of emotively showing the everyday life in Africa. This is the reason why this diploma thesis analyses the visual images (the photographs) with African themes which were printed in the magazines Týden and Reflex in 2005 and 2009. The main part of thesis is an analysis of the photographs describing the way how these magazines represent life in Africa. As a method of work I have chosen quantitative content analysis of photographs printed in magazines Týden and Reflex in 2005 and 2009. The theoretical framework of this thesis is summarized in the first three chapters. The first chapter deals with classifyig Africa . The second chapter is devoted to the photographic image in the world today and the history of depicting Africa by Czech photographers. Tracks in contemporary art

The diploma thesis as a whole deals with the topic of tracks in contemporary art. It is divided into three parts. Theoretical, didactic and practical part. In the theoretical part, I first define what a track means to me and I apply this definition when searching for tracks in the works of contemporary artists. The theoretical part of the work includes an interview with Patrik Proška, an artist creating some of his works in public space. In the didactic art project, created for high school students, the topic of tracks is viewed somewhat more freely. The main goal of the thematic unit is to lead students to think about tracks through their own artistic activity. Based on the experience gained, they should be able to think about the transience of the tracks, the meaning of our legacy and the consequences of our existence. I especially focus on the art area related to land arts and street art or graffiti. The practical part is the result of my reasoning about the tracks left in public space. I established my reasoning on the knowledge gained in the theoretical part. The result is a set of author's books that document my thoughts on the tracks found or created. Analysis of Successful Communication on Instagram on the Example of Top Czech Food Bloggers

The thesis is devoted to analyzing the successful communication of some of the best Czech food bloggers on the social medium Instagram on which the topic of food is trendy. However, I noticed that many food bloggers profiles do not share only food photos, but also their personal photographs. Therefore, my thesis is also devoted to discovering which topics are between analyzed Instagram posts and on the food bloggers profiles the most common. In the communication analysis I focus on how the food bloggers communicate with their followers through texts, photos, hashtags, and how they react to the comments. I also analyze the emoticons and hashtags that they use. In the theoretical part, my thesis focuses mainly on Instagram, it's characterization, functions and methods of how to succeed in this social medium. It also focuses on different aspects of the photograph, "reading" the image, and social semiotics. The social semiotics approach is essential for my research because, on Instagram, the meaning is transmitted by not just one mode, but more modes - all of them are listed above. Journalist as a digital nomad

This diploma thesis deals with digital nomadism (modern way of teleworking, enabled mainly by the existence of internet and social networks) and implications of this phenomenon for journalistic environment and media functioning. In the Czech environment, this issue has been explored so far, and digital nomadism is rapidly changing in view of the rapid technological development of the media environment on the internet. The author wanted to add this gap to the thesis, both in theory and in primary research. Through interviews with specific digital nomads (especially Czechs and Czechs), she tries to answer basic questions about how the digital nomads actually happened, their motivation, the specifics of their work and, last but not least, whether it is possible as a digital nomad - actually a journalist to feed. The concept of digital nomadism first captures theoretically, both in general, in the context of the technological development of the media environment (new media and formats) and changes in the labor market in the journalistic environment, and specifically in terms of media theory. František Dvořák (1932-1986) became one of the leading photo-amateurs in the area of České Budějovice after the mid-1950s. Despite the high level of his work, his meaning and artistic footprint are forgotten over time. Above all, the unofficial part of his work is going over time to the background. Therefore, this bachelor thesis deals with mapping and reminding the life and the work of this South Bohemian artist, who has not received proper attention yet.

Author book - Apology / Reconciliation (theoretical - practical thesis)

The theoretical part focuses on the theme of the book - letter print - from the technical point of view. Further it explores the history, origin and various forms of a book. The thesis includes also chapters about a copyright book and the term " bibliophile". It also gives brief information about the graphic art, especially the technique of gravure. In the last part it aims at two personalities of Czech culture - a painter and graphic artist Jiří John and Jan Skácel. The practical part of the thesis is conceived as a folder that includes series of graphics accompanied with poetic texts. The graphic works are made by dry needle. The texts are written by Jan Skácel. The topic of the the copyright book expresses the author´s memories of her grandmother. The topics of each graphic work depicts the psychology of the contrast between the oldness and the youth and at the same time of the loss of a close person. The practical part should be also a sort of bibliophile.

The objective of the master's thesis called 'Photograph as the copyright and copyright protection of photographer' is to describe the basic foundations and characteristics of the current regulation of copyright work, specifically of photography. The Czech legal system do not contain a complex regulation of photography; therefore, the thesis deals with the individual aspects of copyright law related to the characterisation of photographs as a copyright work, the rights of photographers or their rights related to the protection of their copyright. The thesis is based primarily on copyright law commentaries, copyright regulation on the Czech, international and European level and on the decisions of both Czech and foreign courts due to rapid development of copyright law in the information society and the inflexibility of the current legislation. Due to the author's interest in photography, the thesis is enriched with personal observations from her own experience with photography. The thesis is divided into seven chapters. Color-to-Grayscale Video Conversions

Color to grayscale conversion is still a relevant topic and finds use in multiple areas, to which belongs artistic photography, but primarily colorless print and for simplifying some processes in picture processing. This Bachelor thesis deals with this conversion - decolorization, with focus on video sequences. The basic principle of representation of digital image is explained here alongside with operations for its processing used in next part of thesis. Thereafter it includes the analysis of types of methods, which are used for the conversion to grayscale and further their properties and success rate are evaluated aswell. In the second part of this thesis, there are three chosen and implemented decolorization methods and summary of their achieved results, which is then accompanied by evaluation of practicability in conversion of colorful video sequences to grayscale ones.

Mobile App for Viewing Internet Pictures

This thesis explains issues concerning the development of mobile applications for Android and describes a complete design and development of mobile application Impres for image viewing. In addition to the mobile application there was also created a server application in PHP providing data from different internet sources. Taken together this service aims to bring to its user an inspiring content consisting of phototography and other visual art. The service will automatically add new content and create user-personalised selection. The work also describes theoretical knowledge and procedures necessary for technical design and development of mobile applications. Conclusion evaluates solution and proposals for possible other features.

Visual presentation of american presidential elections 2016 in Czech online media

The thesis Visual presentation of american presidential elections 2016 in Czech online media focuses on visual presentations of Americal presidential elections in various Czech online media. The first part of the thesis introduces the basic principles of political communication, trends in political marketing and the development of the use of photographs in election campaigns. The following part of the thesis describes the characteristics of online news services with focus on processing accompanying photographs. At the end of the theoretical part, two representatives of online media iDNES.cz and Blesk.cz are shortly characterized. The applied part uses the quantitatively- qualitative content analysis accompanied by in-depth interviews with representatives of Czech media to narrowly research into photographic materials with the topic of Americal presidential elections 2016 used by the news servers. The gathered data are not only compared between the servers but also before and after the revelation of the election results. At the end of the analysis, the overall photographic coverage of the American presidential elections 2016 is compared between the news services.
