Zemanová, Aneta ; Šanderová, Jadwiga (advisor) ; Grygar, Jakub (referee)
The diploma thesis called "Ritual elements in the practices of Herbalife Independent Distributors" is focused on the manifestations of Randall Collins' interaction rituals on the example of multi-level marketing company - Herbalife. It tries to answer two questions: answer two questions: What does the Herbalife Independent Distributor community hold together? What motivates them to work, when everything is voluntary at Herbalife and they do not have a competitive driving force there? The connecting mechanism of the multi-level marketing structure and interaction rituals are practices of organizational culture. The most important are the physical meetings of members in which interaction rituals take place. By living interaction rituals, Herbalife members produce emotional energy, by which they empower the symbols of organization and the sense of group solidarity. Positive emotional energy has an impact on the cooperation of distributors with the organization, and it affects also their effort to achieve common goals.

Why is Israel not in the EU?
Houdek, Kryštof ; Bečka, Jan (advisor) ; Weiss, Tomáš (referee)
This bachelor thesis considers Israel's potential membership in the EU. The hypothesis is that the EU and Israel share a common interest in regards to Israeli membership. Yet, national states within the EU would block Israeli requests because of ideological bias. The first part of the thesis describes the attitudes of Israeli politicians and of the public in regard to entry to the EU. Then, I will illustrate the wide economic, security and research cooperation between the EU and Israel. The second part illustrates the attitudes of european politicians of all stripes. Lastly, I will describe the strategic interest of the EU on Israeli membership. The research question asks, simply, why Israel is not in the EU. The answer is divided into two parts. One part analyses legal documentation from the EU in order to prove that, on a legislative level, Israeli membership does not face any significant obstacles. The second part attempts to prove that in terms of national states there is an opposition strong enough to stop such an initiative. The work combines two theoretical approaches: liberalism and neorealism. Liberalism argues in favour of mutual cooperation. Neorealism explains why such cooperation has no chance of fulfilment. The research includes content and discourse analysis of statements made by...
The position of the governments of Gerhard Schröder on Turkey's accession to the European Union
Volfová, Barbora ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Kunštát, Miroslav (referee)
The following thesis deals with the pro-Turkish policy of red-green coalition in Germany during 1998-2005, which represented a turning point in German Turkish policy, because it did not follow the anti-Turkish policy of Helmut Kohl. Also today it represents an unique policy - nor the current Chancellor Angela Merkel initially followed it, whose image of Europe is incompatible with the membership of Turkey in the European Union. Based on an analysis of the most important debates held in the Bundestag under the red- green coalition government, where was discussed the Turkish question, the thesis tries to answer the question why the government of Gerhard Schroeder/Joseph Fischer supported Turkey's accession to the EU. It concludes that in the speech acts of individual government officials and MPs of the governing parties intermingled both strategic arguments and arguments corresponding with the classic postwar milieu shaping strategy that aims to influence the milieu beyond the borders of the national state. Strategic arguments gained in importance due to three international events that shook the world during the governments of Schroeder/Fischer and which tightened the active Turkish policy. It was the conflict in Kosovo, September 11, 2001 and the war in Iraq. However, these international events only...
