The Potential of Latent Class Analysis: the Czech Television Audience Case Study
Pospíšilová, Petra ; Soukup, Petr (advisor) ; Hendl, Jan (referee)
The thesis "The Potential of Latent Class Analysis: the Czech Television Audience Case Study" deals with latent class analysis and it's potential as a segmentation method. Three different approaches are examined - latent class analysis for joint data from six research waves, simultaneous latent class analysis for each wave separately and latent class analysis for joint data transferred into dichotomous form. The results of all three methods are compared through secondary analysis of data from case study focused on audience's perception of the Czech Television; their strong and weak points are described and the most suitable solution is chosen. Based on these findings, four identified segments of the audience are then interpreted from the point of their characteristic features and sociodemographic parameters. This paper is supported by works of classic authors in the area of latent class analysis; the thesis refers to their findings that also served as basis for composition of the research hypotheses.
HDO Raman spectrum
Šubr, Martin ; Štěpánek, Josef (advisor) ; Procházka, Marek (referee)
Title: HDO Raman spectrum Author: Martin Šubr Department: Institute of Physics of Charles University Supervisor: Prof. RNDr. Josef Štěpánek, CSc., Institute of Physics of Charles University Abstract: The main aim of this thesis is to determine the HDO Raman spectrum. This spectrum cannot be measured separately in its liquid form, but it is possible to obtain it by a specific mathematical processing of sets of measured spectra with different H/D ratios. In this work we measured Raman spectra of liquid water with different mole fractions of water and heavy water, which were evaluated by factor analysis. Except for well-known spectra of water and heavy water, spectrum of HDO was determined. For fitting of this spectrum and its analysis, model with equilibrium constant and linear correction of the spectral shape with respect to the relative ratio of D was used. Keywords: Raman scattering, water and heavy water, HDO, factor analysis
Exploring structural changes of employment in rural Czechia: territorial approach
Čapkovičová, Andrea ; Jančák, Vít (advisor) ; Květoň, Viktor (referee) ; Konečný, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis searches for driving forces behind structural changes of rural employment in the example of Czechia subject to changing rural paradigm and the related question of rural economic viability represented by the employment performance. The research elaborates on the territorial approaches which categorises regions according to their degree of rurality. In addition, the detailed classification is made according to the change of non-agricultural employment in the period 2001-2011 in order to identify dynamic regions which showed performance above national average (leading) and those which lacked behind (lagging). The observations prompt the question why is the performance differentiated. Therefore, the regionally differentiated impact of processes such as deagriculturisation, deindustrialisation and tertiarisation in the period 2001-2011 is analysed by the use of analysis of components (namely shift-share analysis) and multivariate analysis (namely factor and cluster analysis). The thesis aims to provide answers in particular by giving a thorough analysis of how the changing rural paradigm (and regional theories in wider context) conceptualise the driving forces behind employment development in rural areas. The added value is in the analysis of interrelations and correlations of chosen...
Drop coating deposition Raman spectroscopy of liposomes with different compositions
Antalík, Andrej ; Kočišová, Eva (advisor) ; Holoubek, Aleš (referee)
Method of drop-coating deposition Raman spectroscopy is a special tech- nique that employs deposition of a small droplet of the sample on a hydro- phobic surface with subsequent solvent removal by evaporation. As a result the concentrated material forms a ring at the edge of the droplet. This techni- que has proven to be efficient for liposome studies at low concentrations. We focused on a study of spectral changes and ring formation in phosphatidylcho- line liposomes due to increasing amount of cholesterol. Higher concentration of cholesterol didn't cause significant changes in membrane structure, such as phase transition, however the ring wasn't formed. Second part of this bache- lor thesis concerns with the search for some alternative surface to previously used SpectRIM TM DCDR plates made by Tienta Sciences, Inc. which are no longer available. The polished calcium fluoride glass (CaF2) seems to be the most suitable for the further use from all tested surfaces. Raman signal at the other surfaces was either weak or spectral bands that don't belong to lipid were observed.

Improved determination of DNA duplex stability by using UV spectroscopy
Víšová, Ivana ; Štěpánek, Josef (advisor) ; Kočišová, Eva (referee)
This work deals with determination of thermodynamic parameters concerning the temperature induced decomposition of DNA duplexes. Precise temperature dependences of solution UV absorption spectra have been measured for several concentrations. Proposals and tests of various data analysis procedures, with aim to find out optimal way how to determine the thermodynamic potentials changes, represent the core of the work. It has been demonstrated that the combination of a factor analysis and a fit of thermodynamic equations to temperature dependences of obtained coefficient values, enables these parameters to be obtained from a measurement performed for only one concentration and with better precision than by using the so far recommended method based on a melting temperature determination for several concentrations.
Volunteering of seniors
Švihová, Jitka ; Frič, Pavol (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (referee)
The thesis examines the volunteer activities of seniors. It focuses on the intensity and nature of senior volunteering. In the theoretical part, it defines related concepts such as formal and informal volunteering, old age, and outlines life course theory. The thesis examines senior volunteering in the context of life course theory. The empirical part works with secondary factor analysis of quantitative data conducted against the background of life course theory. The aim of the thesis is to offer answers to research questions concerning the intensity and nature of senior volunteering and thus provide insights into current senior volunteering in the Czech Republic.
On the diversity of value orientations in actors' life
Shejbal, Antonín ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vinopal, Jiří (referee)
This thesis deals with the topic of value and value orientations in the society. The first part of the thesis is the introduction to the issue of values from sociological perspective, and to issue of empirical measurement of values as well. Subsequently the thesis core is own empirical analysis of the data from Aktér surveys, which were carried out in the Czech Republic in 2005, 2007 and 2012. The research intention was to create typology of respondents on the basis of their various value orientations. For this purpose, a battery of questions was used, which was repeatedly asked in the questionnaires in the Aktér surveys. This set of items measured values and life strategies of respondents on the five-point scales. Multidimensional statistical techniques, such as explorative factor analysis and cluster analysis, were employed to the typology-making process. The outcome of this thesis is the presentation of created respondent types (clusters), their identification on the basis of sociodemographic variables and the indication of the typology transformation in the process of time.
Verification of rhythmic abilities of university students in the field of education and physical education and sport
Kašparová, Alena ; Novotná, Viléma (advisor) ; Pelclová, Jana (referee) ; Kyselovičová, Oľga (referee)
The thesis is focused on creating a test battery for the sense of rhythm assessment for university students in the field of Physical Education and sport. Music-sports practice lacks such tests and so far it is forced to use only tests designed for the music field. The structure of the new tests corresponds to the characteristics of the sense of rhythm from the point of view of music psychology. The tests are divided into three sections, which are Perceptual Skills and Activities (items 1 to 18), Reproductive Skills and Activities (items 19 to 27) and Production Skills and Activities (item 28). The Classical test theory (factor analysis) and Item response theory (two-parametric model) were used for the statistical processing of results. The methods also included the calculation of the reliability and validity of the test. The expected refusal of the proposed hypothesis was confirmed in both the classical test theory and item response theory. The exception was model 4, whose fit indexes, especially TLI = 0.537, showed a lack of evidence for the refusal of the hypothesis rather than for a perfect fit of the model with the data. The aim of the research was to compile and test models whose conformity with the data would be the best. The most favorable conformity was for model No. 1 and No. 5. Model 1...
About identification of motor predispositions in triathlon
Kovářová, Lenka ; Bunc, Václav (advisor) ; Čepička, Ladislav (referee) ; Zháněl, Jiří (referee)
Title: About identification of motor predispositions in triathlon Aims: The aim of our study was to find and verify appropriate indicators predicting the on-coming performance in a short triathlon and determine their level for the junior category. Methods: In our study, we combined quantitative and qualitative approaches with a predominance of quantitative methods. In the first phase of the research, we used quantitative methods, confirmatory factor analysis for verification of models of predispositions and elaboration of performance standards for individual tests by means of T-points. In the second part of the research, we used the qualitative method (casuistic studies) to validate the test battery and its application in practice. Results: We have compiled a structural model of motor predispositions for short triathlon, which explained 91% of all cross-correlations of seventeen used indicators. Predispositions for triathlon were categorized into five separate groups; for swimming, cycling and running (i.e. according to individual disciplines), and functional and psychological predispositions. Finding a lower limit boundary of performance in the completed tests is considered to be the most important issue for the assessment of future performance in triathlon. As a lower limit we have set the zone...
