Corporality is Gods gift
Kubeš, Jiří ; Pařízek, Michal (advisor) ; Jandejsek, Petr (referee)
In the following work I try to grasp the theme of body and corporeality as a gift in Christian conception. Thus, in its first chapter, the work itself will go from the basic presentation of the polarity human body and spirit, the sacrament of the body and its conception as a body created according to the image of God. Thus, the reader will be able to look into the sacramental dual unity in man, the unity of the body and the soul that is desired and desired by God, and who is eternal in God. The second chapter, following the introduction of the body as an inseparable part of man, will elaborate the given theme of creation of the body to a greater depth to the conception of the created body as a gift. Here, the compilation offers the reader even greater insight into the mystery of the body through the Christian perception of the gift. The character and purpose of the gift then eventually distributes the work in its third chapter, existing with the consensus of the previous chapters, by approaching human corporeality and body through one single pattern, which is the body of Christ. On Christ's body, labor shows that, following Christ and the Church, coming out of this body, man in his body is called to the same path, that is, the path corresponding to the path of Jesus Christ. Key words Body,...
Ethics of Philanthropy
Kroupa, Jan ; Sokol, Jan (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Tereza (referee) ; Hyánek, Vladimír (referee)
Charles University Faculty of Humanities Applied Ethics Ethics of Philanthropy Annotation of Doctoral Thesis Mgr. Jan Kroupa Supervised by: prof. PhDr. Jan Sokol, CSc., Ph.D. 2020 ANNOTATION The increase in private wealth in our cultural circuits has been unprecedented which fosters growth in private philanthropy. Charitable giving has been on a rise throughout the western world, including the Czech Republic, where we can document long-term and steady growth in both the number of charitable gifts as well as in the amount donated. In parallel, on the beneficiary side, there is a stabilized sector of well-established civic organizations covering the standard array of charitable topics. We may state that following 1989, the Czech civic sector has been revived, showing - despite all challenges - most signs of healthy maturing. In this paper, we attempted to capture the cultural and social context of philanthropy from the point of view of practical philosophy. We examined the rich roots of philanthropy and described the processes of its institutionalization until now. We paid special attention to describing the current situation of philanthropic giving in the Czech Republic. On basis of the above, we debated some of the dilemmatic questions of today's philanthropy, such as selecting the beneficiary and donor...

A gift - transformations over time
Kunstová, Dorota ; Elischer, David (advisor) ; Frinta, Ondřej (referee)
Dorota Ryčlová A gift - transformations over time Abstract This thesis is focused on a gift as an object of gift-giving and its purpose is to analyse this institute as completely as possible. Both from historical point of view, as well as from the perspective of actual legislation. Not even the perception of a gift by other sciences like psychology, anthropology, economy or diplomacy will be left aside. One of the introductory chapters is concerned with gift transformating in law from the Code of Hammurabi, over the Roman law and the Middle Ages up to the regulation of the Austro- Hungarian Empire, the First Czechoslovak Republic and both civil codes valid and effective in our territory in the second half of the twentieth century. Naturally, the largest extent is devoted to the conception of a gift in current legislation, especially in the Act No. 89/2012 coll. civil code (hereinafter referred to as the New Civil Code - "NCC"). Not only from the point of view of NCC Stat. §§ 2055-2078, which deals with different forms of the gift itself (and gift-giving and contract of donation respectively), but also from the point of view of other NCC provisions explicitly mentioning gift or gratuitously provided performances. For the needs of distinguishing between a gift stricto sensu and any other similar performances,...
A donation for professional caregiver or provider of social service as an ethical dilemma of family relationships
POPELOVÁ, Miroslava
Thesis consists of theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, there is a comprehensive view on the issue of donations in the context of social work. I focused on the characteristics of ethics and morals, on social work with elderly people, their family and the relationship between the worker and the client, as well as on the donations, including the act of receiving the donation, the motivation to donate and evaluation of the donations. In the last chapter I look into the Quality Standards of Social Services and describe here the procedure for receiving donations in several specific facilities. In practical part, my goal is to ascertain the attitude of family members in cases of elderly people wanting to donate to a professional caregiver or directly to a social service provider. In connection with the aim of this thesis, two questions have been defined. The first question is: What are the attitudes of family members who perceive donation as a negative phenomenon (bribe)? The second question is: What concept of life do the family members who perceive the donation to caregiver as neutral or positive adher to? Qualitative research strategy of an in-depth interview technique was chosen to meet the stated research goal. The method of simple deliberate (purposeful) selection was chosen to determine participants. Participants in the research were selected with regard to the family relationship to elderly people who use services of social workers or caregivers. Twelve communication partners attended the research. Data was processed in Atlas.ti 7 program. Data analysis revealed thirteen categories connected with the codes describing the statements of communication partners that expressed positive, neutral or negative attitudes to donations. The results of the research clarify the opinions of family members and thus extend the view on donating to providers of social service.
Back to the future. Etnographic research of Local Exchange Trading System in Toulouse
Lédlová, Eva ; Novák, Arnošt (advisor) ; Kala, Lukáš (referee)
The present diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS). Using the method of ethnographic research, the author sought a holistic description during her six-month participation in a LETS group in Toulouse. Drawing upon theoretical literature, she discusses the local forms of exchange, debt, the relationship to money and to the virtual currency. The findings show that such a system can change the perception of debt and the relation to money. The most common reasons for involvement are the need to establish social contacts, while the most pressing problem appears to be the lack of interest of young people in this phenomenon. Keywords LETS, ethnographic research, exchange, gift, debt, individualization, Toulouse
