The way of consumerism in the interwar Czechoslovakia nn the example of consumption of coffee, cocoa, chocolate and tea.

Dissertation thesis discusses the consumption of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate in the interwar period in the Czechoslovakia. On the basis of statistical data and examination of archival sources comes with the definition of the middle classes of the population, which those commodities consumed. The thesis shows the distribution of consumption of commodities based on the survey in blue-collar and white-collar families. Furthermore provides insight into the lives of families, distribution of their spending and the size of income. It refers to the representation of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate in the consumer basket and shows the elasticity of the mentioned commodities. For the central part of the research of the dissertation thesis chose the Czech territory only, because here were without difficulty accessible data sources. The Dissertation thesis clarifies the causes of consuming cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate and concludes that each was consumed from another purpose, which resulted status of these commodities. Tea consumption has been designed especially for the higher classes of the population, chocolate bought mostly white-collar family, but over twenties speared consumption of chocolate products also among the middle and lower classes into the population. The chocolate products were subject to early 20s of the luxury tax. Cocoa was used in connection with cooking and baking, but families didnt use this product frequently. Coffee drank all layers of the population, but consumption was based on the social status of the consumer. Very frequently families consume rye coffee and chicory coffee. Dissertation thesis also highlights the regional differences between the classes, which were further intensified. Thesis examines in detail the amount of the duties of the commodity, which in the interwar period varied widely, and concludes that the duty to disproportionately increase the price of products and made it impossible for consumers to buy more of cocoa, coffee, tea and chocolate.
System for Recording and Repeating of Events for Sound Systems

This thesis deals with the design and implementation of system for recording and repeating of events for audio systems. The introductory part is devoted to the study of sound systems, their user interfaces and communication protocols that are used by audio systems. Hereafter the description of essential features of Mac OS X, as well as the characteristic of its user interface and principles of development on this platform, are given. The core of the thesis consists of the design of system for recording and repeating of events and the concept of events which specifies the reprezentation of events in the system and their subsequent processing. In~the end of the thesis is presented the implementation of the designed system for Mac OS X with respect to possible extensions of the system and its features.

Fair trade cocoa beans, cocoa and chocolate on the Czech market

The aim of this work is describe the situation of fair trade cocoa and chocolate products on the Czech market, and describe how fair trade works for producers and traders. As part of fair trade is described the Fairtrade certification system, which provides the trademark Fairtrade?. Following the certification process, there are defined production standards for cocoa small producers and traders. The work also focuses on the supply and processing activities in the Czech Republic. The description is followed by an analysis focused on offering fair trade pro-ducts in retail units and consumer´s opinions, choices and behaviour in the field of fair trade cocoa and chocolate products
The issue of teaching sets of points with given properties at elementary school

The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe various methods for examining loci of points of given properties. I have chosen both the classical approach and new technologies such as dynamic geometry software GeoGebra or a programme from CAS (Computer Algebra System). The topic loci of points of given properties is often very difficult for pupils to understand, therefore it is important to look at it from various points of view, to choose interesting application tasks and thus motivate learners in their studies. In this paper I present several suggestions for more attractive and amusing ways of teaching this issue at primary, secondary and university level of education.
The world market of cocoa and chocolate

The thesis depicts the world market of cocoa and chocolate dand current trends influencing the chocolate industry. The aim of this paper is to describe current trends in consumption of chocolate on basis of the analysis of international trade of cocoa and chocolate. I also analyse their impact on consumption of chocolate and chocolate confectionery in Czech Republic. The paper focuses on the history, classification and main producecrs as well as main sellers on the international market of the mainstream products and first class (fine) ones. The paper is devided into three parts. The first part briefly analyses the international trade of cocoa, the second part focuses on the international trade with chocolate and chocolate industry with its current trends, the last part is dedicated to the consumption of chocolate in Czech Republic and its main trends.
The global cocoa market

This bachelor thesis deals with the global cocoa market. The aim of this thesis is to analyse the global cocoa market and indentify the future prospects of this market. The first chapter deals with the general charakteristics of this commodity, i.e. the history of cocoa growing, types of cocoa, cocoa cultivation and cocoa producing areas, and it is processed by using the methods of synthesis and comparison. Another chapter is the analysis of the global cocoa market, which presents the greatest exporting and importing countries, the developement of cocoa price, cocoa processing and chocolate industry. The third part presents the forms of cocoa trading, i.e. cocoa trading on exchanges and the alternative form fair trade. This part also presents the International Cocoa Organization and International Cococa Initiative. The last chapter focuses on the evaluation and perspectives of the global cocoa market in the future by using the method of compilation. The contribution of this thesis is the determination of the cocoa price and possible solution to the growing demand for cocoa in the future.
The concept of fair trade - a path to development as well as an area of justified criticism

This thesis deals with the evaluation of the concept of fair trade, specifically its impact on economic, social and environmental spheres of the life of producers and their communities in developing countries. The theoretical part defines the concept of fair trade, presents the historical development of the concept, discusses its main actors, principles and products; finally, it incorporates the issue into the theory of international trade. The main part of the thesis presents selected case studies that examine the impact of the participation in the fair trade system on producers of coffee, cocoa, bananas and sugar cane, and reveal whether fundamental objectives of the movement have been fulfilled in these cases.
The world market of cocoa and sugar

The thesis analyses the world market of cocoa and sugar. The paper is devided into three parts. The first part briefly describes the botanical characteristic of cocoa beans, sugar beet and sugar cane, the processing of plants and the most important producers. The second part analyses the market of mentioned commodities. It monitors the trend of producers and consumers over the past 70 years. It describes the evolution of commodity prices. The third final section describes the concept of Fair Trade focusing on cocoa and sugar.
Fair Trade and its benefits for African countries

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the functioning of Fair Trade and define the main opportunities which it offers to the producers from Africa. The first chapter contains the typical features of this concept, its definition, essential principles, methods of certification, a brief historical overview and current development. It also introduces some important international organizations involved in Fair Trade. The second chapter focuses on Fair Trade in Africa. It includes the analysis of African market, SWOT analysis and definition of some important Fair Trade organizations in Africa and their main activities. The emphasis is given to Fair Trade in Africa, the utilization and distribution of Fair Trade premium, commodity structure, number of farmers involved in the concept of Fair Trade and some other factors. The last part is devoted to the cocoa industry in Africa and two major cooperatives operating in the Ivory Coast and Ghana.
