Specifics of nursing care for a paediatric patient after hip surgery

Background: This bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of nursing care for a child patient after hip joint surgery. Objectives: The aim of the research was to find out the specifics of nursing care for a patient after hip surgery in orthopedic departments or clinics located in Slovakia or Czech Republic. Subsequently the findings were evaluated and compared. Methods: The self-constructed questionnaire prepared for the bachelor's thesis was anonymous and non-standardized. A total of 37 nurses working in orthopedic departments or clinics participated in the research exploration. From a geographical point of view, they were employees of 2 Slovak and 2 Czech hospitals.For statistical analysis, given the stated hypotheses and the nature of the data, we used the test of agreement of two proportions, Chi - square association with Yates correction, Cohran's test of equality of pooled proportions and a series of McNamar's tests with Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons Results: Nurses working in the orthopedic department with children's patients in Slovakia and the Czech Republic prepare their patients for surgery and for what awaits them after it. Mapping the role of the child in generation gap

In my bachelor's thesis entitled Mapping the role of the child in intergenerational relationships using case studies, I focused on the important role of family upbringing in the life of the child and his/her relationship with the grandparents. Through qualitative research I looked for differences in parenting. In my small scale research sample, I met children who showed interest in their grandparents. In my work, I examined both people who are caring or have cared for a loved one and their reasons for doing so, as well as the elderly who are being cared for. I was interested in how satisfied they are with their care, and whether there is a difference between seniors who are intensively cared for by their loved ones or who are dependent on the care of other people in a facility. From the questionnaires I found out that people who care for someone regularly are extremely mentally and physically exhausted, but they do it gladly and with love. Some feel it is an obligation, but if they are able to provide care themselves, they always want to take care of their loved one. Seniors, whether living at home or in a facility, are happy to have someone helping them with their care and they are not alone. Educational material for children before cardiac surgery

Quality education of children before hospitalization is an important factor in reducing their stress from hospitalization and hospital environment. This bachelor thesis on "Educational material for children before cardiac surgery" discusses in more detail about congenital heart defects and the effect of hospitalization on the child in the theoretical part. In the empirical part, the results of quantitative research, their evaluation and graphical processing in Microsoft Excel including statistical hypotheses are written. The research method was a questionnaire survey at the inpatient ward of the Children's Cardiac Centre of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine and Motol University Hospital. The aim of the study was to determine the quality of education of children before hospitalization by parents and on the basis of our own research and the preferences found to create a proposal of educational material for the given age group, which could be used for practice. As a result, the proposal came out in the form of a book with a story. This preferred educational material was chosen by more than half of the parents. The diploma thesis deals with the design of children's bed furniture, specifically a baby bed. The work is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with ergonomics, typology, materials used and, last but not least, safety requirements and standards when designing children's furniture. The second, practical, part focuses on the overall process of designing and manufacturing a baby bed regarding to it‘s functionality, safety and design. In this part is documented the overall process from the initial sketches and visualizations to the selected variant, its drawing documentation and the production process. The output of the work is a functional prototype in M 1:1 together with the calculation of material costs and correction of the technical solution.

The practical part is devoted to the development of the design from the initial sketches, contains visualizations and photos of the final product.

Potential risks of joint custody of pre-school child

The present bachelor's thesis deals with the possible risks of joint custody of preschool children. At the beginning there are some notes on family and the factors which can lead to its break-up. Then the three possible after-divorce arrangements which are allowed by the current legal regulation of the Czech Republic are defined and described. The core of the thesis is the chapter on joint custody, which describes its most frequently cited advantages and shortcomings which also presents previous research into this topic. The next chapter describes selected areas of the preschool period of child development, which are linked to the divorce of the parents, and to the pros and cons of joint custody. Emphasis is placed on the risks of this after-divorce arrangement, which should be taken into account by parents, as well as by courts. The final part of the thesis is the proposal for a research project in this field.

Problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorder

Bachelor thesis focuses on the topic of problem behavior in children with autism spectrum disorders. It defines the term autism spectrum disorders, brief description and the prevalence. It also discusses the problem behavior, the definition and specific examples. Attention is also paid to the causes and role of this behavior for children. It describes the most common problem behaviors and interventions that work with it. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter devoted to applied behavioral analysis, which is working with problem behavior very successful. Briefly outlines the history of this therapeutic approach, its basic principles when working with problem behavior and possible negatives.
