The Mission of the Apostle Paul in Corinth in its Historical Context

"The Mission of the Apostle Paul in Corinth and Its Historical Background". This thesis aims to present the figure of the Apostle Paul on the basis of biblical and historical reports are available. It describes his life, conversion and preaching Christianity on his mission trips, especially in Corinth. It deals with the life of people at the time and the arrangement of the ancient society. In particular, attention is focused on the historical aspect but also related missionary activities in Corinth. It pays attention to the context of his relationship to Judaism and other pagan cultures. Also included is a clear theological analysis of his letters to Corinth. The work is complemented by maps, archeological excavations from Corinth, showing the layout of the city and dwelling, where early Christians gathered. Attention is also paid to the Christian community in Corinth and everyday problems solved in the letters of the Apostle Paul.

Conflict of Good and Evil in The Silmarillion from a Biblical Perspective

The theme of the thesis is to look into the conflict of good and evil in the work of Tolkien The Silmarillion from a Biblical perspective. The text of Silmarillion itself is mainly used for identification of themes related to the central one. These themes are further analysed to reveal their origin, namely whether they came from the biblical tradition or some other tradition. The first part is devoted to the Silmarillion itself and provides a brief summary to remind reader of the basic plot line and motifs. The second part addresses the issue of good and evil from a cosmic perspective and its definition. This section also identifies the general principles of this combat taking into account its particular realisations and allows reader to determine the influence of Christianity, Norse mythology, and other sources on Tolkien's work. The third part deals with the conflict between good and evil in relation to particular persons or groups of persons, and describes the way people surrender to the evil and how they can resist it. It makes clear what values Tolkien considered important. In this thesis reader can once again find summarisation of the factors that influenced Tolkien's work.

This thesis presents the basic exegesis of the Old Testament text in the second book of Moses Chapter 20 and in the fifth book Moses chapter 5. It seeks to inclusion in the historical framework with regard to basic theological accents. For the most part is on the historical-critical approach, which revealed the formation of the text in the course of history and its position in the context of the Old Testament canon. Almost certainly it can be said that the final text of the Ten Commandments is set in the deuteronomistic history that was specific to their linguistic terminology and theological accents. It investigates the influence of the Czech legacy of Moravian Brethren in North America and its preserving. Furthermore, it focuses on the educational activities of Bohemian Brethren in the Czech Republic, especially in Mladá Boleslav.

The Diploma thesis "Devotion and iconography of st. Mary Magdalen" - Two biblical characters have been associated with Mary Magdalene since the time of Gregory the Great; the unnamed sinner and Mary of Bethany. According to the Bible Mary Magdalene was one of the women who accompanied Jesus during His ministry. She was the woman from whom Jesus had cast out seven demons. She washed Jesus' feet with her tears and ointment. When Jesus was crucified she was there standing under the cross. She was present at His funeral. On Easter Sunday she went to the grave of the Lord to anoint His body. She discovered the empty tomb and saw the resurrected Jesus, who appeared to her as a gardener and sent her to announce His Resurrection to His disciples. She is considered "the apostle of the Apostles". According to an old French legend she was put in a boat without sails or oars and sailed to Marseilles, where she preached the gospel. Then she retreated to a cavern. There she lived as a recluse for thirty years. Every day she was lifted by angels up to heaven. She was buried in Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baume. Her main cult centers were the places where her relics had been preserved; Vezelay in Burgundy in the Romanesque period , and Saint-Maximin-la-Sainte-Baumesince since the 13th to 18th century. Animals as a Tool Used by Mankind

I've chosen Animals as a tool used by mankind as a topic for my thesis. The reason to choose this topic is my closeness to it because of my education in fields of ecology and ethics. I presume, that it would be interesting to connect gained knowledge from ecology and my current study of bioethics. The aim of my thesis is to find out, discover, explain and prove, whether and to what measure is it justified to use animals in favor of a human. I would like to try to describe most important aspects of this topic in my thesis. I'd try to answer to this aimed goal through collected information from worldwide and local authors. My thesis will be structured in three main parts. First part will be aimed on animal rights, in a second part, there will be desribed in which ways we use animals and in a third part there are stated ethical and theological aspects of this problem.
