Exposure to alcohol advertising among second grade primary school students in Prague
Baraník, Petr ; Barták, Miroslav (advisor) ; Petruželka, Benjamin (referee)
Background: During adolescence, individuals develop their own lifestyle, experience self- awareness, and shape their identity. Children in this period often experiment, reject advice, and disregard the opinions of adults. Alcohol advertising shapes a positive relationship with alcohol across age groups. Adolescents seek new friendships, good mood, and an escape from stress, anxiety, and obligations. Alcohol advertising specifically offers guidance and recommendations for alcohol consumption. Alcohol advertising fails to highlight the negative consequences of alcohol use and the risks of addiction. Aim: Describe and analyse the relationship between the influence of alcohol advertising, and the views and experiences of primary two pupils on alcohol use. To evaluate the exposure to alcohol advertising among second grade primary school students in Prague. To investigate the impact of alcohol advertising on pupils' attitudes and behaviour. To analyse pupils' awareness of the risks associated with alcohol consumption. Methods: The bachelor's thesis has the character of quantitative research, the research tool is a cross-sectional questionnaire survey. Between May and June 2023, 35 elementary schools in the capital city of Prague were approached, of which 9 elementary schools were willing to participate....
Analysis of the academic performance of pupils with immigrant background in selected European countries
Čakovská, Hana ; Hasman, Jiří (advisor) ; Kostelecká, Yvona (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to quantitatively assess the position of pupils of foreign origin in schools. This is analysed through the magnitude of the differences in learning outcomes between immigrant pupils and native pupils in eight different education systems. The main aim is to capture the heterogeneity between the selected countries, which were chosen because of differences in integration strategies, the amount of funding directed to education and the organisation of education systems. For the purpose of the analysis, the international database of the PISA survey was used with 49 687 respondents. The effect of foreign origin is analysed together with other determinants in order to reveal its relevance in explaining students' performance in school. The author is not aware of any differences in the academic performance of immigrant pupils and native-born pupils have been captured in other similar comparative research. Based on the literature, the factors were grouped into three levels - pupil, school and country levels. For this purpose, a multilevel linear model is used, which is able to purge the effect of school level from the role of individual characteristics. The influence of immigrant background has been demonstrated, but is influenced by other factors such as economic, social and cultural...

How the plants influence our atmosphere - project based education for the basic school
JANEBOVÁ, Klára
The aim of my theses was to create an educational project for students of elementary schools on the topic of how plants affect our atmosphere. The suggested project base on the project teaching comprises of four issues: reducing the heat with vegetation, isopreniods and atmosphere, dust particles and vegetation, and carbon dioxide - vegetation - atmosphere. The project was verified in lessons of three elementary schools in South Bohemia with a hundred students of 9th class within the time period of March and April 2023. Teaching of botany at elementary schools focuses mainly on photosynthesis and morphology of plants; little attention is paid to the relation between plants and the atmosphere. The project is designed to demonstrate some areas of the relation plants-atmosphere, and to reveal the importance of vegetation for human beings. The effectivity of the educational project was verified in didactic survey. A pre-test was conducted before the activity itself and a post-test followed it with a one week delay. Collected data was then processed, evaluated and transformed into tables and charts. The data reveal that the suggested activity resulted in higher success rate in tests and increased the understanding of the effect of vegetation on the atmosphere.
