Czech Radio's foreign reporters in Brussel and in the Middle East: the comparison of the preparation for the position and conditions for their work

Diploma thesis "Czech Radio's foreign reporters in Brussel and in the Middle East: the comparison of the preparation for the position and conditions for their work" observe the technical aspects of work on above mentioned places. The main goal is to confirm or disprove a hypothesis saying radio reporting from Brussels and from the Middle East has in this case nothing in common besides the institution of the Czech Radio. This hypothesis comes from the apparent difference between Brussels and the Middle East regarding area and political systems which could also lead to the same relation between reporting from these two destinations. The target is then analysing the content of interviews with Czech Radio's foreign correspondents and their predecessors placed in Brussels and in the Middle East by means of qualitative research approach. All interviews were half-standardized. The results will be summarized using the comparative method regarding seven evaluate parameters. These are: preparation for the position, agenda setting, characteristics comparing to other correspondents of the Czech Radio, physical and psychical demands, issues with recording, cooperation and the impact of technological development on the correspondent 's work.
Poland in the news of the Czech News Agency and the Czech Television with the focus on governmental reforms in 2015 - 2018

The diploma thesis analyses news coverage of some of the most important reforms conducted by the Polish conservative government. It focuses on public media services: Czech News Agency and the main news, Události, of the Czech Television, and the time period of years 2015 - 2018. The work consists of two parts. Theoretical part zeroes in on the description of theoretical concepts, general description of mentioned public media services and their foreign news coverage, particular types of agency and TV news. Separate chapter summarizes the differences between the Czech News Agency and the Czech Television, their purpose and news production itself. Another chapter concentrates on Poland - its political system and historical background of the last decades. The current situation in the country since 2015 is also outlined - the results of the last elections, current government and its reforms and intended changes. The reform of justice, reform of media and a plan to almost ban the abortions are described in details. These three reforms are the bases of Author's analysis. The practical part describes in detail results of both quantitative and qualitative methods chosen for this work. The news of Czech news agency from Latin America

The aim of the thesis The news of Czech News Agency from Latin America is to document the form of the Czech News Agency's text news from Latin America, to reveal whether the agency fulfills its obligation to inform about events abroad according to Act No. 517/92 Coll., and also to expand the very limited number of studies related to this topic. This work deals with news agencies and takes into consideration the CTK as a public institution and outlines the characteristics of Latin America and its relations with our country. Using quantitative content analysis, I find out how much space CTK spends on the countries of the North, Central and South America, which countries are re-informing and which countries virtually ignore in its news. I examine what priority messages are usually assigned and which areas of public life are concerned. Last but not least, I compare the monitored reality from the first half of 2016 to the first half of 2006 to reveal how much informing about Latin America has changed over the course of a decade. At thesis I provide a detailed analysis of Czech News Agency's production from Latin American countries, which no one has ever dealt with in the Czech environment so far, and present the results of my analysis in the tables and charts.
Analysis of the Czech and American News Coverage of the 2008 Presidential Elections in the U.S. and American President

The diploma thesis "Analysis of the Czech and American News Coverage of the 2008 Presidential Elections in the U.S. and American President" examined if American press, represented by The New Your Times, is influencing the coverage of presidential candidates in Czech press, which is represented by Mladá fronta DNES and Hospodářské noviny. The examination is based on the example of presidential race in 2008 in USA. The aim of the research is if there are signs of international two-step flow in Czech press. The second part of the research is focused on so called honeymoon effect in Czech press on the example of news Coverage of President Barack Obama in his first term in office. The quantitative content analysis showed that there are similar features in the coverage of presidential race in Czech and American press. The investigation also showed that Czech press is more positive in the coverage of Barrack Obama at the beginning of his first term in office and this positivity declined in the second year.
The manner, form and measure of informing about the news from Czech republic in Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989 until now

This bachelor thesis focuses on the foreign news service and publicism from the Czech Republic in the Polish daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989 until now. It analyses the quantity and the contents of the news from the Czech Republic not only in its paper form, but also on the newspaper's webpage www.wyborcza.pl. The thesis shows the beginnings of the daily newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, the difficulties with the formation of the newspaper during the end of communism in 1989 and, according to the articles and topics published in it, also the way how the Polish public opinion on the Czech Republic was formed. This bachelor thesis works with the internet and book sources and also with the paper archives of Gazeta Wyborcza since 1989. There is also a place for the Czech and Polish reporters who inform about the news and events in the Czech Republic. The thesis collects the most important events from the Czech Republic, starting with the end of communism in 1989. These events and the interest in them are analyzed in this work. Gazeta Wyborcza, the most significant nation-wide newspaper in Poland, shows a sufficient view on the Czech and Polish relations. A media picture of USA by ČTK and its comparison with ČRo reporter's news in the first half of the year 2013

The diploma thesis A Media Picture of USA by ČTK and its Comparison with ČRo Reporter's News in the First Half of the Year 2013 focuses on the comparison of the news and materials released by Czech Press Agency, Czech Radio and its foreign correspondent, about United States. Using qualitative and quantitative methods the paper examines the extent of the space donated to the topics related to USA, which themes were followed and how every of the subjects were informing on them. The quantitative methods are used when analyzing the news releases by Czech Press Agency and coverage of Czech Radio including contributions of foreign correspondent, during the period of the first six months of 2013. The qualitative part analyzes the way in which subjects reported on two selected events in the United States - attacks on the Marathon in Boston and West Fertilizer Company explosion. Other parts of this work are chapters focusing on the theory of foreign news and the position of USA.
Format of news programme Horizont ČT24 and its transformation

The object of this work is to analyze the international agenda Horizont CT24, particularly its new form, in which the program is broadcasted from autumn 2013. In its theoretical part, the text will define the foreign news in the relation with the audiovisual media. The theoretical segment will also include a basic specifics of audiovisual work, which will be also applied in the practical part of this thesis. This bachelors thesis will also implant the foreign news into the context of television broadcasting, it will briefly describe its meaning, origin, and the specifics of its evolution in the broadcasting scheme of the Czech television. The core of this thesis is to analyze the program - the author will focus on how it was created, which technologies were applied, the reporting methods, genres and the content and form. The author will also examine sources of the reports, namely the ones from foreign correspondents from the Czech television and the reporters placed in headquarters in Prague, who use the available foreign news agencies. The aim of this thesis will be, apart from analyzing the agenda, to describe the most important changes which the format has passed in the last year and a half of broadcasting. A media picture of the Russian federation made by ČTK and its comparison with ČT reporter's news in the first half of 2012

Objective of this paper is to analyse the media picture of the Russian Federation as it was presented in the two Czech public media - Czech press agency and Czech television. The notion of media picture is brought into wider perspective of current media theory. The main subjects - the two media and Russia - are presented. Special emphasis is taken while challenging the significance of foreign news as a whole, and in particular, and also describing the specific features of the work of foreign correspondents in Moscow. Analytic part of the work deals with setting a proper research of media content involving Russia. The four stage quantitative content analysis tries to discover the volume of foreign news from Russia presented by the media chosen in the first half of 2012; topical, agentive, tone and source agenda of Czech television and Czech press agency concerning Russia; topical, agentive, tone and source agenda of both the two foreign correspondents seated in Moscow at the time; comparison of the diverse outcome of each medium.
