Design and preparation of database of chemistry experiments for chemistry education
Vrzáčková, Eva ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Hájková, Zdeňka (referee)
This bachelor thesis involved the design and creation of a Database of chemical experiments, which serves as a source of demonstration experiments. Videos to individual experiments were delivered using external links. These individual experiments were chosen using criteria from teachers obtained via a general survey. The main criteria were time and material factors, availability of chemicals and also clearness of experiments. A template was made for each experiment, including all the information required. Experiments, for which no suitable video was found, were carried out and recorded. The resulting database includes 58 experiments divided into 25 main categories. Some videos are included in more than one category. The database was then placed on the website www.studiumchemie.cz, the web portal of Charles University Faculty of Natural Science for secondary school Chemistry teaching support.
Development of new educational materials for chemistry education in a form of webpage
Kraus, Jiří ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Hájková, Zdeňka (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on design and preparation of a new educational material focused on the theme of chemical bond. The material has been prepared with regard to content and with approaches based on results of analysis of secondary school textbooks and internet sources which deal with chemical bond and current curricular documents valid in the Czech Republic. First part of the thesis deals with specification and determination of necessary terms and arbitrary content of theme of chemical bond based on the content current curricular documents, especially FEP G (Framework educational program for secondary general education), Katalog požadavků ke zkouškám společné části maturitní zkoušky pro rok 2011 a 2012 (Catalog of requirements for the common part of mature examination for yers 2011 and 2012), four selected School educational programs (ŠVP - školní vzdělávací program) and on evaluation and term analysis and didactic content analysis at most common secondary school textbooks and selected internet sources focused on theme of chemical bond. The results of the evaluation and analysis also showed the incompleteness of the analyzed materials with regard to didactic content and/or specialized content. On the basis of results of the analysis and the evaluation, a new educational material in the...
Proposition of implementation of knowledge of interdisciplinary branch of "nanotechnology" into high school curriculum
Hájková, Zdeňka ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Němec, Ivan (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused on possible ways how to implement interesting and important findings from the field called "nanoworld" into the curriculum of science subjects at secon-dary school. For this purpose following materials were prepared: an educational text (also serves as a theoretical base that summarises basic information about nanotechnology and nanoscience), a multimedia PowerPoint presentation, a concept of a project "When you say NANOTECHNOLOGY...", a concept of an excursion, motivational and developing interdis-ciplinary tasks with the theme "nano", two tests aimed at nanotechnology and advanced mi-croscopy techniques (electron microscopy and scanning probe microscopy). The proposed project was tested at two grammar schools in Prague. The excursion was also realized and evaluated. Both, the project as well as the excursion met with an average response from stu-dents. This thesis is accompanied by a CD with the presentation and print versions of the pro-ject, pretest, posttest and worksheets for the excursion, interdisciplinary tasks and test items. In addition, the CD contains photos and students' work from the realization of the project. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Role of Urbach Energy in Photovoltaics
Vlk, Aleš ; Abelová, Lucie ; Hájková, Zdeňka ; Remeš, Zdeněk ; Holovský, Jakub ; Ledinský, Martin
Organic-inorganic halide perovskites provide new opportunities for improvement of optoelectronic device performance, especially the efficiency of solar cells. To evaluate the quality of a new material many parameters has to be taken into account. Here, we discuss one of the often overlooked semiconductor’s parameters, Urbach energy, which is an easily accessible measure of material disorder. Moreover, we present its importance on the example of organic-inorganic halide perovskites.
Nuclear Chemistry and Chemistry of f-Elements in Chemistry Curriculum at Secondary Schools
Distler, Petr ; Teplý, Pavel (advisor) ; Hájková, Zdeňka (referee)
This master's degree thesis, called Nuclear Chemistry and Chemistry of f-Elements in Chemistry Curriculum at Secondary Schools, conducts a research of the most commonly used high school textbooks. Within the textbook research, topics such as atomic nucleus composition, radioactivity, and f-elements were studied in order to evaluate to what extent contemporary textbooks meet to the curriculum requirements. Based on the textbook research, the new teaching texts, materials, and teaching tasks including the uncovered themes were created. Selected teaching tasks were evaluated by high school teachers. Within this pool, the teachers also answered questions concerning teaching topics of radioactivity and chemistry of f-elements at high schools. The same tasks were solved and evaluated by high school students as well. The results of both teacher and student surveys were used for the final modification of the tasks.
Demonstrations as an illustrative tool in chemistry education
Hájková, Zdeňka ; Šmejkal, Petr (advisor) ; Klečková, Marta (referee) ; Nižňanský, Daniel (referee)
Demonstrations are considered an important illustrative tool in chemistry education. Quite often teachers use demonstrations of experiments and multimedia demonstrations. Besides, "non-experimental" demonstrations might also be useful, such as material models and demonstrations based on macroscopic analogy that can be usually carried out only with household items and materials. This dissertation is especially aimed at selecting appropriate demonstrations, at their design, development and use of "non-experimental" demonstrations. Moreover, special attention was paid to the interdisciplinary demonstrations concerning the nanoworld, so called "nanodemonstrations". All "nanodemonstrations" presented are safe, cheap and rather timesaving. Furthermore, they can be carried out in a form of lecture and / or students' demonstration. Newly created as well as adopted (and modified) "nanodemonstrations" were collected into the Czech database of "nanodemonstrations". The database was additionally accompanied with following educational materials concerning "nano": two PowerPoint presentations, worksheets that supplement students' "nanodemonstrations" and worksheets with interdisciplinary tasks. This thesis also deals with the evaluation of "nanodemonstrations" and worksheets in secondary school classes. The...
